Newton have athletes no doubt, but saying they have just as many athletes as WOS is being delusional.

Here is a thought (for all schools) why not have players pay for all of their own uniforms, insurance, etc. After all, there are several groups (non athletic of course) that already have to do that. Then we can see who puts their money where their mouth is...EDUCATION FIRST....hence the "STUDENT" athlete. All the savings can go to new computer labs, higher teachers wages, etc.
 
After all, isn't that what most people are complaining about with BISD. They stole from the kids, depriving them of a good education....fire the admin, not the teachers, who provide the kids with an education....

Tatum should be a good game. Newton always adjusting early in the season. Putting players in different positions trying to find that right chemistry. Always looking for the win. WOS is going to be tough. I love my Eagles, but anyone that knows Southeast Texas football and doesn't say WOS has the edge is crazy. Newton will show up unafraid, as in all their games, but I will be the first to say WOS is the big dog on the block. Play the game and move on.

I bought a bird feeder.  I hung it on my back porch and filled it with seed.  What a beauty of a bird feeder it was, as I filled it lovingly with seed.  Within a week, we had hundreds of birds taking advantage of the continuous flow of free and easily accessible food.   But then the birds started building nests in the boards of the patio, above the table and next to the barbeque.  Then came the poop.  It was everywhere:  on the patio tile, the chairs, the table- everywhere.   Then some of the birds turned mean.  They would dive bomb me and try to peck me even though I had fed them out of my own pocket.  And others birds were boisterous and loud.  They sat on the feeder and squawked and screamed at all hours of the day and night and demanded that I fill it when it got low on food.   After a while, I couldn't even sit on my own back porch anymore.  So I took down the bird feeder and in three days, the birds were gone.  I cleaned up their mess and took down the many nests thy had built all over the patio.  Soon, the back yard was like it used to be....quiet, serene... and no one demanding their rights to a free meal.
 
Now, lets see.....  Our government gives out free food, subsidized housing, free medical care and free education, and allows anyone born here to be an automatic citizen.  Then the illegals came by the tens of thousands.  Suddenly our taxes went up to pay  for free servies:  small apartments are housing 5 families; you have to wait 6 hours to be seen by an emergency room doctor; Your childs second grade class is behind other schools because over half the class doesnt speak English.    Corn Flakes now come in a bilingual box;  I have to "press one" to hear my bank talk to me in English, and people are wavings flags other than "ours" are squawking and screaming in the streets, demanding more rights and free liberties.

PNG, do you think if the jury were All White & the Defendant was White, would she get Convicted?? Same question if All were Black would she get Convicted?? I say No to both because we ignore facts in the Racist South(East Texas) When will All Overcome??

Consistently winning is the best way to start traditions. Then everyone buys in. Everyone supports. But to start a winning tradition, it helps if you buy into the coaches program, give him support and a few years. If he has a good program you'll most likely compete. Good programs are square. You develope athletes, a few are born, most or developed, mentored, and are a product of there community and system as it develops it's winning tradition.

I cannot understand this guys logic, or anyone who thinks like him. Irregardless of their skin color. And we have them that think that way, and they come in all colors. What really gets me, is the guy is educated, I'm assuming. Being around people of all different races, you come to realize that it's not the color of your skin, or where your from that matters. This guy will get his, you can bet on that. To many good people in America to let this guy get away with what he has said. The league, his wife, lawsuits, he's going to feel it. Might be to late to change his thought process, but maybe not.

I think it's funny that you are praised as a hero for being gay(Michael Sam) and constantly bashed for being a Christian(Tebow).

My concern is that political correctness, carried to the extreme degree, is going to be our downfall.

If a good coach goes to a school which previously never really had a winning program, he will need support from the entire staff, and the community as well. It's not enough to want to win. You have to do what's necessary. All key leaders in that school as well as parents and fans must buy into the coaches program. Might take a minute to attain results. If he is successful, watch out. He becomes a commodity.
And I agree, this is a step up from Deweyville, strictly by virtue of size of school, and of course. Being in the district with Newton ,you might need Tom Landry's help to overcome that obstacle.

You're being gullible if you think the majority of these student (loosely used) athletes are going to school to learn.

You stated that WOS beats local 3A teams and 4A Bottom feeders, I think PNG, LCM, and Central may not fit in that category, Central is on the right track with Foreman as their coach and the winning tradition that goes along with PNG speaks for itself. Newton will be a great matchup and thats exactly what WOS needs in pre district games. I stated that Newton must be a bottom feeder if thats what you call programs that continue the traditions these 4A schools have that WOS plays. Believe me WOS doesnt look for the easy targets to gauge their talent by. WOS wants to Compete against the best! So Newton feel good that you are in our sights!

this will be a good game for us win/lose or get took to the woodshed does not matter,predistrict games like this is what we have been missing the past few years, both teams will bring it, two well know programs going head to head, yes if we (newton) win this game we will forsure have a awsome year, if WOS wins this game they will have not much more but bragging rights across the state only because of the big school vs small school thing,.........my prediction as of now WOS gets the W and im a big newton eagle fan to the core also just being real, but like i said we will gain a bunch from this game and be in our favor come playoff time 

I don't look at this game as some kind of rivalry and don't want it to become one. I hate to hear fans talking a bunch of smack. I do look at this as a tool to measure how good a team Newton has. WOS should be able to beat Newton and if they beat Newton by 21, that's nothing to be ashamed of. If WOS is a contender for a state Championship and I believe they will be, then they should beat Newton by a considerable margin. If Newton is a top 5 team in the state, and I believe they may well be. Then they should put up a good showing. It will be a great test for Newton because WOS should throw the ball around a bit. Newton struggled in the playoffs last year against and excellent passing team. This should help prepare them for a playoff run. Because most likely they will run up against a good passing team if they are to make a run at state. So I just look at it as a test and and opportunity to get some experience and get better. I believe Newton will give WOS a taste of what it's like to go up against a good running team.
I'm hoping Newton plays mistake free football and keeps it close. Hope they prepare for a good passing, and very athletic team because they're going to get one.

It'll definitely be a test for Newton. If they can play with WOS, they will definitely have a legitimate shot at winning a another state championship. They're legitimate just about every year anyway. I hope they give them a battle and I believe they will represent well.

That's not what I meant. If the kid that has all the natural talent, the track kid. If when he's 10 years old starts to play baseball and that is what he primarily concentrates on he will be a good baseball player, provided he is coached well. And very few has the potential to be a pitcher. Or quarterback for that matter. But good coaching definitely helps. Not saying every kid can be great at every sport. But I don't believe that school A that has never been good at a sport is not because they don't have athletes available. The athletes available are not being coached for the sport they are not good at, or there is no emphasis on that sport. There is no way you can convince me that football athletes only grow in certain neighborhoods. Some years you have more athletes. available than other years. My last post on this.
