  1. I ha e to admit...

Mainly six posters pushing this thread.

    Impressive.

I'm gonna have a tough time calling this one this week.  These heavy run teams make my skin crawl as they move down into the red zone.

    So tough to stop.

Then the emotional roller coaster of a big play..

    Then the run game again.

Tough sledding.  But great for me as two 12-0 teams match up.  Too bad Carthage and PG are playing or we would have center stage.

well here ya go here is fact for you.

    2022  -5 rushing 31 receiving 0 tds

    2023   66 rushing 54 receiving 0 tds

the two years against the DAWGS  that I saw personally combined totals 61 rushing and 84 receiving with 0 tds is at best average stats.

    @Silsbee92

Yep. I can't argue with those numbers so I won't even try.  That would be idiotic.

Both games were really tough defensively.

Defensive mindset will be a difference from here on out.  Bend don't break against those power run games.

Jasper will always be a tough draw for Silsbee, both physically and mentally.

Its like execution goes out the window for some reason and all emotion replaces it.

Silsbee is more than Miller, though the confidence of Silsbee is in no small part a reason for being 25-1 last two years.

It allows other players to shine and become more than what they were two years ago.

    Cartwright, Kibbles, Baltrip, etc.

It's called a team for a reason and I'm glad Miller is a part of our family.

wrong site to be a moderator then.

    Possibly...

But what the heck, Ill provide some substance.

You are correct, mostly, on Miller not visually standing out EVERY PLAY of the game.

This is what makes him a great player and teammate.  Also, why Silsbee is a balanced offensive team.

He will rarely catch 10+ receptions, have 200+ receiving yards, multiple TDs, etc.

His Junior year will probably be his best statistical year, for obvious reasons.

Its no coincidence that Silsbee had 3000+ YDs rushing AND 2800+ Passing YDs as a TEAM.

Biggest indicator of his ability to control & change the game is TDs. He makes the play when its in his hands to do so.

Silsbee Tigers scored 80+ TDs last year...  Dre'Lon Miller had 30% of those TDs.

Execution of his ability is why he is the best player on the field and few people see the effectiveness because it is rarely accompanied by bright lights.

I've moved over to the Bellville/Madisonville thread to quit polluting this one.  Only gonna talk about the future and present in that one ;)

I rarely see Bullets this fired up outside a basketball forum.  Lol.

Must be the weather or it could be just a really solid HF football squad is rolling coming into these playoffs.

Cuero is a tough draw, no doubt.

It's obvious with your last couple of posts that you are playing the "reverse psychology" gig here.

    It's not becoming of you.

But, if not and you really believe Gatesville will beat Silsbee, I'm willing to make a wager.

What is going on here lately with all these "sensationalized" posts?

Totally agree.  Sensationalized is a great word.  Never would have used that one.  Showing that wisdom you have earned.

  7. This was a defensive game that really hampered the RedZone offense of the Tigers.  Do Not Forget that Silsbee actually kept Smith from doing any permanent damage on the scoreboard but the real damage was done in that Silsbee did not have the ball in 2nd Half.  A real clock eating ground game.

Jasper's T. Smith reminded me, painfully, of how Jordan Whittington took over the game in the State Semi Final.

Hats off to that performance. Amazing.  But if I'm being honest that Oline was the real ticket to that performance.  The lead blocking that was being applied downhill was dominant and allowed a talented athlete to show out.

Here are the final stats and keep in mind that T. Smith had almost all these rushing yards and the 4th down conversion rate was insane.

    Silsbee

    Total Yards - 337 / First Downs - 16

    Passing - 194 / Rushing - 143

    3rd Dn Eff - 1-8 (13%) / 4th Dn 2-4 (50%)

    TOs - 2 / Pen - 6 for 37 Yds

    Jasper

    Total Yards - 295 Yds / First Downs - 15

    Passing - 58 Yds / Rushing - 237 Yds

    3rd Dn 1-13 (8%) / 4th Dn 5-6 (83%)

    TOs - 2 / Pen - 6 for 51 Yds

  8. Rough Stats
