  1. Aggies' might need to correct me since I was in the service still, but I believe they ran the spread back in the late 90's and were pretty successful with it. I heard they were a little lighter on the bodyweight back then. Silsbee has been on a streak with pretty good size players the last few years and I think that works real well into an I-Formation/Veer running game. Still learning the X's and O's myself, I hope I have learned a bit....
  2. One good way to get a QB hurt if a safety or cornerback figures it out. POW!!!! Highlight reel hit!!!
  3. Hang in there, 2-2. You're skin thickens after a full season in at least one of the sport forums. 8)
  4. I have heard it all now. This thread has a great moral and mature point for most aspects in life, but, sounds to me like someone or someone they know got their feelings hurt. Playing football results in players engaging in situations that result in at least two major components. 1. Intensity 2. Violent Collisions Funny, how in this thread, cursing does not take a back seat to those two results. Personnally, calling someone and idiot, or that they are stupid is just as wrong as putting an adjective in front of it.
  5. For Real? Won't this be an interesting district to watch this year...
  6. Really? What school are you attending or speaking of? Just Curious...
  7. Interesting quote, "Ozen always has the horses to compete"? The real question is do they have the jockey needed to control the horses? 8)
  8. Key word in my statement was "supposedly". If there really is a penalty then it should be called but I rarely see one that is a legitimate one. As for Klein Bearcat's response, it was an excellent addition to the rule explanation. I had totally forgotten about the coach that was hurt and I was not aware that he was suing. I stand corrected.
  9. Oh, Ok. Wasn't around then..
  10. Means well??? I guess we have different ideas about that... Stay gone Balla... Do everyone a favor and stay gone...
  11. Are we really discussing this..... This rule is about not being able to move the chains and set the markers to keep the game moving... not so much about the coach on the field. That is a sportsmanship issue. This rule is about as bad as the block in the back that supposedly happened 50 yards behind the game winning break-away running touchdown.... This is why I do not officiate football. Some rules are just stupid. But it is what it is....
  12. This is the reason I did not vote.... Can't be overrated before the season in my opinion. Need some data to back up the accusation.
  13. WOS92, You're program has my respect. We had some tough games while I was in school and a couple were close heartbreakers. Except for my last, (33-0) Never really got over that beating .... J/K Loved the games and look forward to more... Keep making Southeast Texas proud.
  14. I haven't seen this on our site and I thought some of you guys might want to see this video. Hope this is not against the rules, I am borrowing this link from the sister site in Houston. This kid is unbelievable. [Hidden Content]
  15. "I feel the wave of nausea and the pain in my chest as the flood of memories from last year's game come storming back." Oh, to be great like the 'Stangs.......
  16. Is this based on the pre-season polls and team previews? If not then the replies will be biased. 8)
  17. Complete refersal of the original post. For the record the "so-called blowout" was Lumberton 18 - Silsbee 16. If you guys would quit building shopping centers you might stay 4A. Judging the population boom in Lumberton, you will be in 4A a long time. Silsbee will be back up there eventually and then the rivalry can resume. Until then, can it with the blowout talk until it happens in this millenia. Matter of fact check the stats and see how miserable Lumberton has been. Real Bad. I mean real bad. The Forum is "Southeast Texas All-Time Football Records".
  18. Maybe I was blind during my playing days. I didn't excel in football but I didn't stink either. The main thing I remember about playing football was the intensity of the game itself. Loved how I was in another world when the ball was in my hands, how I seemingly felt nothing until the game was over and the adrenaline tank was empty. I do not remember ever seeing parents at our practices. I know mine weren't there and I played regularly. Football games are won by the players drive, determination and talent to implement the game plan established by the coaches. More often than not the poor execution of designed plays and lack of preparation is the cause of lost opportunities. I personnally think that the coaches need the COMPLETE and FULL attention of their players in order to properly access their skill level, both present and future, in order to develop the TEAM, not the player. Just my honest opinion, whether you agree or not.
  19. I guess I missed this game. Who did this Simien guy play for? I remember that Byrd fella from Splendora who ran all over us, but no Simien comes to mind.
  20. Seems that I remember that two of their players who were on the field when I watched them play BC and Silsbee were Hazelwood and Rhodes, both of them offensive impact players. I did not notice any defensive standouts. If they play as they did last year and get some help on defense then they will do well in the district. But, without a steady defense you will come close to getting beat in 2 or 3 games and losing in the playoffs. Bad as I hate to say it, It happened to the Tigers last year and unless you added more offensive studs you're defense better be a lot better.
  21. Silsbee has been putting some pretty good lines together these past few years. Looks like another group to wear out the D-Line of opposing teams. This works well with the steady running attack. Castle should have a pretty good season at RB with the tall and athletic Johnson behind center.
  22. I was wondering because WO92 isn't usually in that kinda mood. 8)
