  1. Not big on speed and such in high school. ANY pitcher with command can control a high school baseball game. Add speed and he most surely can dominate it. However, a wise old coach once told a hard throwing high school pitcher and college bound athlete this: " Everyone can hit a fastball in college kid. " Have always been and will always be a fan of the change-up. Master this pitch along with command of a high 80's fastball and you will do well. Just my two cents...
  2. Can you spell more injuries... Not a big fan of turf. :-\
  3. Every player that comes out of WOS is playing under someones shadow... It is called reloading...
  4. I have no idea who you are talking about..... ;) ;)
  5. I was at this game. HF had plenty of opportunities. Couldn't capitalize. Silsbee should have lost this game. Worst game of the year for Silsbee except for the letdown in the playoff game against Columbia.
  6. You obviously haven't watched too many games by Silsbee. They have very few errors. As a matter of fact, when they beat BC and Jasper the first time the other teams lost their games because Silsbee hit with them and then the other team made errors.
  7. BC still a force to reckon with. Glad Silsbee has the attention and all but let them fellas take care of this district first and then run the table through those rankings.
  8. Where did you get you're information?
  9. Excellent reply, MIF04. Everything said was right on Par and I stand corrected. I am a stats guy and when the players back those up with their performance thenI would have to agree onyour ranking. Thanks Again.
  10. Dishon is a great player. tremendous bat, great speed and toughness (Football), rifle for an arm and good defense. Will fit in nicely in any outfield. I will have to reserve my likeness to Delome though until he performs at the Collegiate level that Delome has since joining Lamar. From what I remember though, Dishon is having a similar career at the High School Level. This is nothing against Delome because as far as making the transition to college ball it is my opinion that some school missed out on a HUGE player that made this jump look tremendously easy. I wish the best to Dishon and hope his career continues to prosper at LSU. Tough conference to play in (SEC). Good Luck.
  11. HJ playing tough ball and could sneak up on soemone if they slip up (Hint, Hint) 8)
  12. I think the Red Sox made it famous... Very few people talked about until then. Never was a Red Sox fan. 8)
  13. gotta give this thread its dues. Weekly summaries are extremely helpful for those of us just geting back into the local action. Thanks Again'
  14. To say Calhoun is an understatement. Is there another centerfielder who has started all 4 years in the pie and does not have one error? If there is I haven't heard about them. No errors in 4 years. Incredible doesn't begin to describe the discipline it takes to make the right decisions that avoid fielding and throwing errors. Calhoun hands down.
  15. Dang It!! Lost another Karma point. Hate it when that happens... :-\
  16. You might wan to copy and paste a genreic statement like that every week. Seems like you are having do explain every time a new ranking poll comes out. Rankings, smankings. Some are ranked at the beginning of the season and some are not ranked at all. Maybe we should have a 162 game season. ??? Play ball gentlemen. Let the poll be what it is. A gathering of great minds who gather evidence and opinions to create a general consensus ranking of the data. Also, how many districts, areas or even a regions for that matter even have a ranking??? I for one am glad we have this site. Keep up the good work fellas. I think you guys are dead on for each week. Who knows, it may even make these young men play better!! Sorry, had to get it off my chest. No I have to go after the umpire bashers.. ;D
  17. Spunds like a humbled and politically correct response. But I like humble.
  18. Even though Joel Schooling pitched a great game against got the win you can never ignore a No -No. Another day for Joel but today it goes to Shawn Flores for Pitcher of the Week. Great job to get a no hitter no matter the team or the district. Not real sure of the player of the week as so many had similiar peformances but B. Armstrong's 6 -6, 2 triples and a homer is a heck of a night at the plate. Leaning that way until more data surfaces.
  19. Man, relax. Just having fun. I expected a good game between two good teams. people are way to tense.
  20. True you beat them once, but you can't get one back and you must win both against Jasper to get the lead back in the district as it stands. Looks like playing Silsbee teice before Jasper might just put a damper on the district title.
  21. Bridge City can relax the game has been cancelled.
  22. Even if the plate is blocked the runner must slide or try and avoid the tag. If you initiate contact with the sole purpose of dislodging the ball, and there really is no other reason, then you will be called out, because it is malicious and can cause serious injuries. By the way, if anyone here thinks that if a player tries to run someone over that he is not trying to hit them hard enough to take his mind off holding on to the ball then you are seriously confused. With that intent in mind it is malicious. Period. Yes, it is a judgement call, but it can be defensive as well as offensive.
  23. Thanks Guys. Appreciate the help.
