  1. Sorry guys, had to leave a little early. :-\ IF they played a live quarter I was not there, but it looked like the controlled scrimmage consisted of two offensive possessions (20 Plays), then a switch to defense for the same. This was done consectively. I left after the 2 offensive session of Nederland ended with an INT. The JV did not run a live quarter so hopefully I didn't miss the Varsity run one.
  2. If there is anyone on this board who can give me some names to go along with the jersey numbers I have I would appreciate it. JV/VAR #18, #11, #86, #26
  3. I was watching the Nederland- Silsbee scrimmage's. As for the Varsity teams, here is my opinion. Love them or hate them. Nederland Defense: That Johnson fella has earned a nickname as far as I am concerned. The Nederland faithful should call this guy "The Cleaner" because he was definitely cleaning up for the rest of the team. The guy flattened a couple of Silsbee athletes who had beaten a couple of tacklers and thought they were home free. He played some offense, but did not touch the ball. They used him as a downfield blocker and this could give the team fits later if opposing teams figure out how to exploit a big hitter like that. There was another but I do not know his name but he was #2. Definitely a playmaker too. The veer has its faults, but the one thing you can not do is have poor tackling and there was way too much of that going on for the 'Dogs. Nederland Offense: The spread is definitely hard to defend and Silsbee will have to make some small adjustments to keep teams from blowing the game open. The Qb #15 for Nederland is a "hoss". Tough runner with a lot of heart so far. Took some big hits and shed them for a touchdown early. Other than that series though, the offense needs some work because though they caught a lot of passes for short gains, two series' were ended with interceptions underneath. They seem to have another healthy Rb in #11, Not game breaker speed but seems to have good downfield vision and uses his blockers well. Good luck Nederland. Will post my opinions of Silsbee later as to keep it short. 8)
  4. Not me. They are just as shocked as we are about Jasper last season. They find it hard to believe that they will be down again. Think the district was tough last year?? Throw in a good Jasper team last year and voila..... madness I tell you, pure madness. 8) Good luck to Jasper and congrats on the poll confidence.
  5. Except for all the other good teams they have to play in the district. :
  6. glad to hear it. I was under the impression he had a pretty serious head injury and was probably going to sit the season out and just run track and play BB. Thanks for the update Aggies. Been working alot lately. 16 or 17 in a row now I believe. Money, Money, Money...... MONEY!
  7. I plead the fifth on the grounds that I may incriminate myself of any involvement with the situation stated above...... J/K Since I spend most of my time working over here in Orange, and I have to feel the vibrations daily from the chest thumpers of WOS, I will have to roll with them Stangs'. Doesn't hurt that they win alot either. 8)
  8. Spread offense against Silsbee D??? Could very well be some quick scoring strikes. Veer offense against Nederland D??? Could very well put D. Johnson in the mood for some football when it is all said and done. Will be there to check this out. Silsbee is young in the skill positions after losing Harris for the season. Young but definitely talented.
  9. Did I miss something.... I do not remember a whole lot of trash talk that was generated by Silsbee fans. They might have responded to yours but other than that.. Now if I missed something please let me know..
  10. Come on people, I know it says "favorite football movie", but this is High School Football. Varsit Blues Win Everytime. Where else is there so much passion and pain involved in sports. Every walk of life in Texas is affected by Friday Night Football. Towns stop functioning when it is time to play football in Texas. The scene after an all nighter in the "Club", with the hot school teacher (Which by the way I do not condone.. :), the rain, the mud, the pain and of course the "thunder" (Soundtrack for those of you who do not know..) is timeless. I get lost in those few minutes of tremendous slow motion big hits... Sorry I got a little involved there... Varsity Blues. Hands down, the best High School Football Movie. Long Live "Tweeter"... 8)
  11. Let's take a more in depth look at why the pre-season picks are what they are: Keep an open mind now 'Balla..... Kirbyville Wildcats Aug. 31 @ Cleveland Sept. 7 Carthage Sept. 14 OPEN Sept. 21 @ Liberty Sept. 28 @ Jasper* Oct. 5 West Orange-Stark* Oct. 12 Orangefield* Oct. 19 @ Hardin-Jefferson* Oct. 26 Bridge City* Nov. 2 @ Silsbee* Nov. 9 Hamshire-Fannett* All things are considered last years record, points for, points against and even home field advantage. The wild card for Kirbyville this year is your defense... What has changed? The coach. That is it. Your offense was not the problem last year. You scored well in most of your games, including Silsbee and Jasper. But they gave up alot of points in almost every game that mattered. Fix the defense and you will probably take second in the district. You have homefield advantage when the 'Stangs come up there so win. If you lose @ Jasper and then to WOS in your own house back to back then suffice to say you will most likely be playing for third. Home field advantage does not swing well for you this year. You got away games against 2 of the 3 teams that you need to beat. Like the write-up says. Pay attention to your time and where it is being spent. Spending it online jawing back and forth will not get K-Ville ready. Hopefully none of the players are getting sucked into the void of trash talking. You know where it got you last year. Just My Opinion,.... Again.
  12. Can't wait till tomorrow to see these guys start getting some hits in. I look forward to the next few years. Time to catch up on some wins and close the gap between them Stangs' and history.
  13. ST4, don't give in to this jabber. Believe in the team based on ability and talent not the rambling idiocracy of K-Ville.
  14. Can't say that I really liked the video. Kinda disappointing, but I do feel sorry for Kirbyville.
  15. Getting beat is tough to swallow, but getting clobbered or embarrassed is a whole other story. Would not want to see my team get clobbered in the playoffs, ever.
  16. Not real sure you're response had any numbers involved.... except for #24. 8)
  17. That was just wrong..... so very, very, wrong... 8)
  18. Ouch Admin... :-[ Cut me deep there. Real deep....
  19. Not me. I would rather play in a competitive district all the time. Sometimes you win sometimes you lose... :-\ I beleive that a tough district builds character and mental toughness which you will need to become a champion. I for one don't know how them Stangs' can stand themselves... winning all them games like that. Must be tough when they lose one.. : ;D ;D
