1. 42-34. HJ missed a ton of freethrows in this one. HF played tough at home as always.

4. but.... he isn't going to oak hill.... he is staying at silsbee.... the issue is the age gap and whether or not it is appropriate...
5. why on earth would you punish a kid for wanting to play? If he missed the offseason and it affected his progress, then other players will take his playing time anyway...  If he missed the off season , but is still able to contribute, it would seem you would want that player contributing.. These are teens that have alot going on...and arent sure what they want day to day...  To often, blanket rules get put in place... Each situation is different and must be viewed differently.
6.
I have to say...I sure hope Silsbee can go deep in the playoffs this year and maybe even a state run. I also believe they will go undefeated in district. But...I kind of hope HJ pulls off the unimaginable upset. Why? Because never in history will there have been so many people wrong about a game...including me. I bet HJ's coaching staff doesn't even think they will win. Just a small part of me wants to see it. Although I give it the same chance as us having a blizzard drop 10" inches of snow in 24 hours...
I promise you that there is not one coach that doesn't think they can't win..... ;)
7. Thats going to be a problem for them.... trying to hire so late will really limit who can and will apply...
8. Hardin Jefferson Basketball camp will be this Monday, June 17-20, from 9-12. If you have not preregistered, we still have spots available. You can show up and register between 8-9 on Monday morning. All campers will receive a certificate, T-Shirt and a ball as well as contest awards.
9. Plus, those kids don't have to worry about  behaving in class, turning work in, testing, being held accountable for school grades, etc.. This is kind of what I am talking about..... most people assume the homeschool method is used to avoid this..... we are doing it to make it more rigorous...  How many times have you heard about discipline being overloooked so a kid can play in a game...  teachers accepting late work... giving re-tests etc. so kids can be elgible, etc. When my kids are of high school age we will have a tough decision.... keep them home schooled...or put them in high school to let them play sports...  It the option were there to school them, and bring them to athletics... I would be all over that. If you were to meet my kids who would be in the 1st grade and pre-k, it would be hard to argue against the virtues of homeschooling... Now, as far as it being abused.... yes.... AAA academy comes to mind!  I don't have any idea how it could be regulated to ensure a level playing field...however I am looking at it through the lens of parents who are doing it right and for the right reasons...
10. Absolutely! These kids should be allowed to participate.  Sure, there will be a few that homeschool in order to not be accountable for grades, but I believe these will be few and far between.  There are many reasons to homeschool and there are lots of people who think homeschooled kids are anti-social freaks.  I am a public school teacher/coach.  My wife and I have decided to homeschool our kids.  I am sure there are lots of thoughts on this but, it is really hard to read peoples opinions on this who have no idea the reasons parents choose this/ or what actually goes on.
11. Everyone on here is getting out of line...... support the kids at the schools you root for.
12. Congrats to coach DuBois!  Looking forward to him getting started.
13.
It is weaker than in the past.. yes.... but I would say that the HJ team this year would compete pretty darn well with past HJ teams.... As far as Central and Vidor... HJ lost at Vidor the first game of the year by 2, in a game that was decided by ALOT of freethrows... they split with central.. losing at central and beating them by 10+ in the YMBL tourney... to say that HJ couldn't compete is laughable.... If you want to talk about weak districts, look at some of the other 3a districts... It is very plausible that 2 teams from this district could very well be playing in the Regional tournament this year... Bobcat05- the winner would probably play the winner of  yates and either OF or HF in the 3rd round and the runner up would probably play splendora..... you really don't think either would win that ??game?
nailed it...... ;)
14. Way to go Buna..... I said earlier in the year that 2 teams from 21-3A have a great chance to go to the Regional tourney.  One more against Splendora. (who I think buna should handle) and one for HJ against Yates and that will be a reality.... Go get em Lady Cougars!!!
15. Buna will need to play really well to win this one.  Should be a physical... fast game.... Good Luck Lady Cougars
16. Thursday 6pm @Barbers Hill Fieldhouse Good Luck Lady Hawks!!!
