Gtj007 got a reaction from NHSDOGS9009 in Nederland is open, Barrow Resigns
It's easy to throw opinions out there about how certain ISDs spend their money and how well they manage it. This is straight from TEA 2022-23 school year.
"The state's school financial accountability rating system, known as the School Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST), ensures that Texas public schools are held accountable for the quality of their financial management practices and that they improve these practices. The system is designed to encourage Texas public schools to better manage their financial resources to provide the maximum allocation possible for direct instructional purposes."

I believe William Delege was the QB in 2001. The year Ned lost to Smithson Valley in the Semi Final.

The idea of creating one HS for the sake of a winning football team is ludicrous!!

Nope. On the botched kickoff, the ball was never recovered and rolled out of the endzone. Ask anyone who was watching on Texan Live.

Maybe the “opt out” culture, that’s been prevalent in college and pro sports this year, has now spread to HS sports. Many college football players have quit on their teams this year. The transfer portal plays a big part in it too.

There have been many examples througout history where well-established technologies were quickly replaced when better technologies became available. The Horse and buggy vs the automobile, outhouse vs indoor plumbing and the typewriter vs the word processor just to name a few. I get that many people are of the mindset that “football is supposed to be played in grass”. Well that’s probably because there was no such thing as field turf when football was created. Technology has definetly had an effect on footbal with reguards to helmet safety. Did the guys who played in leather helmets fight the transition to better made and safer ones? I bet not. Times change, the weather changes and even the game of football has changed.

Gtj007 got a reaction from Proud Dawg in Nederland 35 Beaumont Central 20/Final
Sure, Nederland made adjustments at halftime....Most coaches do. What happened in the second half is Nederland's O-line wore down Central's D-line and imposed their will on them!!
Nederland had two really bad offensive series to start the game, but then got going. Central did not dominate the first half. They had 117 yds to Nederland's 100, one offensive TD and a kickoff returned for a TD. Nederland's D-line was in the backfield ALL night last night. Whaley had 21 carries for 100 yds!!! 2.1 yd. per carry. If you looked at Nederland D-line before the game, they looked outmanned. But then the game started and they dominated. Take away the stupid penalties that kept many of Central's drives alive and it's even worse.
The better football player is the one executes his assignment and has the tools do so. It's not always the one with the the height, weight or speed advantage. If you lined all of Central's and Nederland's players head to head, Central would have Nederland beat at almost every position in those categories I listed above. But Nederland had the better football players out on that field last night!

Why is it that every time Nederland beats Central or Ozen, it's always because Central and Ozen got "out coached"? The reason Nederland won both of those game is because Nederland has better high school FOOTBALL PLAYERS!!! And a better football team!!!! End of story.
