Exactly, I pointed this out EARLY this year and was told the last team like this won the district championship.

As an observer of all but one game this year, I can say that Vidor football is not in good shape.  The team is undisciplined and lacking want and desire to win.  There is more of a ME mentality than a WE mentality.  Personal fouls, standing off to the side by yourself, talking to parents, girlfriends, friends in the bleachers while the game is going on, mental errors like fumbling or trying to go for a big hit instead of wrapping up.... that is all look at ME stuff.  Are the coaches to blame... yes and no.  You can coach and motivate all you want but eventually the players have to buy in and right now the players have not bought in... well not all of them.
This post is not me thinking that Vidor should be undefeated or #1 in state.  This is an observation post.

If DuBois runs the offense like he did when he was OC, it will be somewhat of improvement. Week to week the scheme was different with him as OC. The last several years we seem stuck on one page of the playbook.

It's funny how in this world, you really can't have a opinion. Matthews did a hell of a job, and changed many kids lives for the better. In the eyes of every fans you are judged on the what have you done lately rule. Let's be honest with coaches from High School to Pros, you must win, you are judged by that. I feel if Matthews schemed a passing game into his playbook, his teams would have been difficult to beat over the years. However my hat is off to this guy on a great job. I enjoyed the games my sons played against him. Wish you much success coach.

Throwing my hat in the ring, I want to be the next head ball coach at Vidor. We will be running the Spread T, maybe I can get MTM to be my offensive coordinator and MTC to be my defensive coordinator.
No but in all seriousness, I hate to see Coach MTW go but I’m sure he’s had enough and ready to move on to another chapter. Wish him the best at BSN, that’s a sports apparel and equipment company correct?

If you have physical speed you should be in every ballgame, ask @BMTSoulja1

Physical talent you say... this made me think of the Physical Speed that the Vidor Pirates have been utilizing under Mathews.
I think the new coach will have success in the first few seasons if he keeps running the same type of offense. I wouldn't mind seeing a change to something with more multiple formations but the Pirates will have a fully stocked backfield for the next few years. Only question I have is who will emerge as the starting QB but they should have plenty of good options to tote the rock at the RB position.

There are always and will always be exceptions to the rule.  Especially when a school gets a run of D1 commits through the program.  Either way.. it's documented that household income, school tax base, and poverty correlate to success in athletics.  To ignore that is just naïve.  You should take a field trip to other areas of the state and look at what poor schools are competing with.  State of art facilities, immaculate neighborhoods, brand new businesses, etc.  Player A (6'4 220) has two working parents, attends summer camps/workouts around the country, has a dietician, has a personal trainer, has a private tutor, has 24hr access to the nicest facilities money can buy, has 3+ of the most nutritious meals imaginable that are specifically designed for health/performance, and has a team full of friends/teammates with the same exact life.  Player B (6'4 220) has to work summers/weekends to help around the house, can't afford sports camp, eats whatever happens to be in the house, lifts/trains alone in a 30 year old weight room when he can find a ride, has zero teammates willing to put in extra work with him.
Who has the head start, Player A or Player B?  If you don't think that and similar scenarios play out across the state... you're either ignorant or stubborn.

You mean to tell that BC brought in a coach from a storied program (I have NO clue who the coach is… don’t care) and didn’t start winning right away?!?! He didn’t bring over the winning formula to make a state run?!?! What tha what?!?!
“Community support” dear lord man stop drinking that BC water!
2 best things about BC is the corn dog at Walmart and seeing BC in your rear view mirrors

Thanks buddy, he did his thing. Now currently doing his thing at the Vidor Walmart lol. Idk how someone deserves 15 dollars an hour starting out and all you have to do is shop for people when they put an order in but once again… what do I know.
Go Stros 5-0 again, when you miss that big fish and get a second chance you can’t let him off the hook again.

I wanted my son to learn how to be a long snapper, that’s where the money is at when you can’t run a 4.5 or benchpress a Cadillac. Could have had a 25 year career in football but what does the old man know about anything ever…
