Texas Pauses Data Center Projects Until Further Audits

Don’t feel bad. I’m invested in the technology, and am engineering by background. So, I’m fairly up on most of the tech dealing with nukes. Plus, my son was the lead nuke man onboard the USS Ronald Reagan for 13 years. So, we have a pretty good idea of things. But, I’d never heard of the water purification aspect. It’s very similar to the multiple uses you get from cogeneration units. You’d think the Corpus area would be drooling to entice a small nuclear module inside the new refinery, and use the water purification aspect for the refinery water to help with their water shortage. Plus, right there on the Gulf with ready access for desalination. -

I would say similar. But, influenced by outsiders as well. Not to say there aren’t some valid concerns, and some regulations are needed. But, not overbearing as government tends to do. -

If any student athlete participating in competition would be ineligible by current rules. Then the team is only qualified for select playoffs. "Open" is too vague and like u say includes too many small schools. For example last year Louisiana 5A had 36 select (Edna Carr 14-0) and 41 non (Quachita Parish 11-4) Would more coaches check a box and DEC do their job? I think if they would. Especially if they know they dont have to face Carthage or DeSotOakinVille in December -

I have not heard of this technology. Sounds like it would cover a multitude of problematic issues. I am a rock ribbed environmentalist, but a pragmatist as well. Any significant reduction in C02 emissions will have to depend on expansion of nuclear power. Cleaning toxic water would be a super side benefit. The U. S. must lead in all advanced technology. -

That and the fact that Houston didn't score a run when the game was tied 3-3 in bottom of 7th and Astros had runners at 2nd and 3rd with no outs. Another good pitching game gone to waste.

I don't think he go his foot on the bag until after the tag. Even the great ones make mistakes and him not sliding was simply very bad baseball. Tough loss to take today. Real tough loss! -

I thought this was very cool. Pasted from the Tribune link in my previous post above. And the excess heat from power generation can drive thermal desalination systems. In the Permian Basin, where oil and gas operations produce vast quantities of contaminated water known as produced water, that means a single reactor could simultaneously generate clean electricity and treat water that would otherwise be a waste stream. The heat from the reactor could vaporize the water, leaving salts and other contaminants behind for disposal, before condensing the vapor into clean water, said Douglass Robinson, Natura’s founder and CEO. “While we’re producing the electricity, the waste heat off of that electrical generation is the heat we could utilize for the desal,” Robison said. “So we do both at the same time.” -

You do know that parents change residences for a large number of reasons, right? Job, cheaper housing, better neighborhood, different school district for their kids, etc. Nobody can stop people from moving. If they actually move, and can prove the change of address.... how is that the kid's fault? Why would a kid be punished by sitting a year if his/her parents made the decision to relocate? You can't prove why the move happened. And honestly.. it's nobody's business. I could sell my house this afternoon if I wanted to... for whatever reason I wanted to.. for however much I wanted to.. and move to wherever I wanted to. And if I still had kids at home, they'd go with me. And there's nothing nobody could do about it. They shouldn't be punished if I as there parent makes a decision to relocate. As long as none of us openly advertised that we were moving so my kids could get an athletic scholarship or play for a potential state champion, then who's to say it was for athletic purposes? There's no question that it has and does happen that kids/parent change schools to potentially be in a better position athletically, but it's not difficult to justify the move for legitimate reasons. Apartment complexes make it easy in metro areas like DFW, Houston, Austin, etc.. -

How is he eligible? If he broke a rule? How was he approved by the DEC? I suspect every school in the district submitted PAPFs for transfers. Do you any info on the transfers to the other schools in the district? Or just the teams that are good? -

How hard would UIL fight this? They don't want to lose any money, I'm sure. If a school opted out for one sport, would they have to for every UIL event? -
