UIL only allows a certain amount of games played outside of tournaments. I believe if a team plays just 2 tournaments then they can play 21 games but those also include district games. So if you have 12 district games, then you are allowed to schedule 9 non district games. If you play 3 tournaments then you can play 19. That would allow 7 games. In some cases, districts play as many as 14 games so that cuts down on how many non district games that are allowed to be played. Coaches make schedules out prior to the seasons including getting in tournaments of their choosing. I think trying to keep open a weekend during the season would be a logistical nightmare and I bet the vast majority of coaches would not care to do that during the season. The TABC summer thing is great and very happy that they have this for the teams. But this is not about the fans. It's about allowing teams to play during the summer. I simply can't see your scenario happening.

Somebody come visit Leggett so we can return to old days

If we were to split it in half. I'm pretty sure both halves would still be bigger than both of you. -

After seeing the excitement surrounding the TABC tournament, do you guys ever think there could be a midseason showcase around Thanksgiving or Christmas? You could have the same 3 game format and have a better look at teams to compare and create some bigtime matchups. You could pair up top 10 matchups that could lead to rematches in the state finals. Imagine if we would have gotten Westbrook vs Birdville last year or BU vs Duncanville or Onalaska vs Paradise. Is this even possible?

Orangefield went 2-1... only loss was to a very good ponder team. Onward and upward. Best is yet to come.

We have it so good here. Some people take it for granted. I love it here and always have.

Silsbee really needed this. But you can see whats there" they will get things together. And they will be just fine. I" see them getting better with every game they play. Going to be a fun year this year just seeing what they will do. But like Aggie said after this year Silsbee will be something special to see.

Oh for sure I think Brenham will be better than Crawford. I plan on catching a couple Brenham games this year
-
Will be another "down" year for Silsbee this coming season. Meaning they will contend for a district title but likely will finish 2nd or 3rd and then out in 2nd round, maybe 3rd. Just too young at this point in time. But after this season, the Tigers will be back on top again and be back to making deep runs in the playoffs.

Those other levels can go get their talent while most high schools have to play with the talent (or lack thereof) that lives within the district. I think a coach should have the option to play the style that benefits his/her team the most for success. If it's a deliberate style (not holding the ball in a huddle like what Lumberton tried to do with no real intent on running an offense) then so be it. If it takes a minute to a minute and a half to run your offense aka Argyle, Kingwood, Central Heights, etc., then what's the harm? I want diversity in the game. I like seeing different styles being played. Shot clock basically makes everyone play the same. Most coaches and teams that want a shot clock already put the ball up within 45 seconds of the possession. Doesn't help them offensively. They just don't want to have to defend that long. The shot clock is just not needed at the high school level. -

I’m more worried about Brenham. Last year they were excellent. Adding back Jacoby Dixon is going to take them up a level. I saw him when he was only a freshman against png in 2023 and he was already a grown man.

For clarification: schools run a background check from the DPS database. If that comes back "clear", the school check references. Former employers are only technically allowed to provide 1. dates of employment 2. eligible for rehire yes/no 3. they may also provide safety info for DOT sensitive positions. Anything beyond the above listed information can expose the former employer to legal trouble. If they reveal unsubstantiated or unverified rumor type information that prevents a former employee from being hired, they can be subject to lawsuits.

What did you guys see in the Silsbee Tigers this weekend. They went 0-3 but look VERY YOUNG. Looks like they had about 4 incoming freshmen on the trip. I did like what I saw in the 2030 incoming freshman Brewer. Looked fundamentally sound and very defensive minded picking up 84-94 feet on many possessions. They seemed to struggle rebounding and matching up in transition defense but I'm sure with their coach can correct that with the speed they have.

Beaumont West Brook went 2-1 at TABC. What are you guys thoughts. They looked very long on the clips I saw. Stewart 6'7, Moten 6'7 and Callahan 6'8 Didnt seem to dominate the paint area with any blocks or rebounds as I expected from that size but all three seemed to have the ability to really score it. Who will be the 3pt threats to stretch the floor, or will they be more old school with back to the basket scoring?
-
I was able to see some of BU games on a few Lives. Looks like they were missing 2 starters in King Campbell and Ontario Williams 6'8. Combine that with the loss of Jones and Moore moving to Prep schools and losing SRs in Tillman and McCreary they look better than expected. The struggled shooting the 3 but looked composed and fast. They had 3 incoming freshman 2030 make the trip in Cayan, "Scrap" Smith and Jonah. How did they look? This district is going to be very deep this season.

Are these the same advisors who listened to the Gulf States, and other world leaders (who haven't been directly threatened with 'Death to America' chants for the last 47 years) that warned of a global recession because their countries/States were in a crunch and don't know the full capabilities of America's military? Or, were they the political advisors that warned him about losing an election--and going through another ridiculous and wasteful impeachment process--because of high gas prices, and an unpopular war that he didn't get full buy-in from the public before beginning? I'm not a war hawk in general. But, I am as it concerns the Iranian regime. If it was important enough to go in, it's important enough to finish. Just because you eliminate some senior leadership of a group that has never honored an agreement in their history doesn't mean their acolytes will honor an agreement any differently. That's a fool's errand. Sorry. I've always been hopeful this current blockade method along with military action would work. But, I just don't see it. Many others with direct experience share my view. I daresay, it's about 50/50, with more of the former military and intel personnel with experience agreeing with me. The politicos probably do not agree as they're concerned about different things. Without regime change, you'll never confirm there's no nuclear threat as you'll never receive total access, and THAT was the primary driver.

Every other level of basketball has one, what would it hurt. No one wants to evolve with the times . Not all change is bad !!!!

The writing was on the wall when the LLCA group in Woodville ran off the coach who took them to the state title game because he 'didn't use his athletes" like they wanted.

Any update from the Hardin folks about where Trevor Jones is going to play college football? I heard he was taking some visits to D3 schools and I'd like to keep up with him as he works through the college ranks.

It's a bit unfair to scrutinize Toby about this hire and not do the same to each of the other HC/AD who have hired him over the past several years while these same issues were present. Bass hired him a year ago at HJ, and several other districts in the years before. Clearly, it's a systemic problem that has permeated all of these districts in the area so trying to paint Foreman as the primary bad guy just because of the most recent issue seems a bit like recency bias. If social media is to be believed, the issue with Peveto and the young girl was a pretty well-known secret around HJ and Peveto's wife was the athletic secretary and Bass was in charge.

Well I am positive that Trump did not end the Ukraine War within 24 hours of being sworn in. Here we are a year and half later and it’s still going on. Nothing negative about living in reality.
