Good win for Coach Hoyt & the boys, HJ squeaks by Brookeland & loses to Vidor. I feel like this is not real life for HJ hoops. -

This should not be allowed to happen from either school, terrible look for the first game of a new coaching regime. Dumb by High Island to agree to it. There a plenty of schools in the east/southeast houston area that had to be looking for games. Heck even just intrasquad would be better than that. -

I can guarantee you that Coach Tigee and Coach Kennebrew would have never scheduled High Island when they were coaching at Hamshire-Fannett. -

Correct. There are several 1A teams that only have one team. Only varsity. From what I know, HI has 1 senior, 1 junior, 2 soph. and 4 fresh. that make up their entire basketball program. They only have about 60 kids total in HS -

So they don’t field sub varsity basketball teams. Their entire varsity team is a combination of would be freshmen and JV players… -

Not really. HI couldn't even field a 6 man football team this season. HI only has 8 players in the basketball program, 4 are freshmen. -

Hamshire-Fannett should never play High Island. Jasper and WO-S should never play Goodrich. -

It would have still objectively been a bad call and it's a bad call because you took the certain points off the board. Not sure where you come from but where i come from we were always taught a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. If he had originally decided to go for 2 to win it (Like Friendswood did) and lost then that fine, but when you have a tie game you cannot untie the game to try and go for two everything about the decision was nonsense, if he had succeeded we would of course be happy with a second round game, but it would have still been the objectively incorrect decision. I asked a buddy who does some stats work for Northwestern what the data says and his exact words were nothing is more statistically valuable then guaranteed points. So under no old coach model (traditional) or stats model (modern) is this the correct call to make. Also, grandpa knew better and he never coached a day in his life but had more life experience than any of these coaches dreamed of having.
