  3. Well, I want Miami to lose, but I thought that was a TD….control and two feet down. To me, the play is over.
  4. Bi-district playoffs offer multitude of fan options By Tom Halliburton Playoff matchups of all varieties begin this Thursday and Friday for Golden Triangle-area high school football squads. Unlike most recent years, the great portion of the area district’s playoff seeds actually were determined before the final regular-season Friday night. By virtue of its head-to-head victory over Port Arthur Memorial, La Porte assured itself of the top spot in 9-5A Division I. Port Neches-Groves accomplished the same commanding position in 10-5A Division II by reaching the final regular game with wins over its three nearest challengers. The 3A Division I league completed its regular games on Thursday night as Orangefield wrapped up an undefeated 10-3A-I schedule. Orangefield’s neighbors at West Orange-Stark entered the final night with the No. 1 seed secure due to its 38-30 victory over nearest challenger Silsbee three weeks ago. One other area championship was settled Thursday night in the Pineland area as West Sabine nipped Colmesneil 26-24 to determine the highest seed in 12-2A-II. Therefore only two No. 1 seeds remained undetermined on the final night. Little Cypress-Mauriceville and Newton had to capture wins Friday and they did. The Battlin’ Bears shared the 9-4A-I lead with Vidor but LC-M owned a 41-7 over the Pirates on the opening week of district play. Newton needed to defeat Woodville to keep the top spot in 12-3A-II. The Eagles claimed the tiebreaker advantage over Hardin and New Waverly as each of the three teams had one district loss. Eagles senior running back K.J. Porter surpassed Anthony Byerly's school career rushing record during Newton's victory Based on overall season records, two of the marquee matchups for nearby teams involve East Chambers vs. Fairfield (both 8-2) in 3A-I and Hamshire-Fannett vs. Athens in 4A-II. Here’s how the seeding positions resulted for the area’s playoff qualifiers and the bi-district matchups: District 9-5A-I 1. 11. On one hand, I hope the Dawgs do what it takes to win, and stop there. Same time, I know the staff will want to continue improving, and not let there get to be any complaceny since a second round match against either opponent will be tough, and they will not let the young men lose focus and repeat last year's disaster. If I remember right, Northbrook was able to make this great, first time achievement because of a forfeit by Westbury. Westbury had a player pass in a tragedy a couple days before a game, and decided to forfeit the contest out of respect to the young man, and provide time for the school & community to remember & give solace to each other. Found it. I thought I remembered something about this. Pretty sad deal. Young man was shot almost right on campus. [Hidden Content]
  12. I need the cameras to find Michael Irvin on the sidelines.
  13. Win out and LU should not only get a home game they will likely have a 1st round bye. Just knocked off the #2 team in the country and all playoff projections already had them with a home 1st round game with a seeding around 10-13 with one having them already with a bye at 8. Also #10, Illinois State lost tonight. LU should make a decent jump in the polls and still some big games for higher ranked teams to possibly take losses in the next few weeks. Montana State is OT right now. That would be a huge shake up if they fall. 11,000 plus tonight was quality. Hope you get your desire for a bigger crowd in the playoffs.
  14. All the high ranked games tonight are turning into blowouts
  15. 3A D2 Region III Hardin vs. Teague Friday, November 13 7pm Dragon Stadium, Nacogdoches

  17. Lamar played great! Stands was rocking! Tailgating was great! What a fun great day at Lamar. Honestly top 3 best game days at Lamar… what a great day! I think we may get a home playoff game… please SETX come out and support a great program in Lamar!
  18. The fact that there’s even a pole…. This will be a wrap halfway though the first quarter…
  19. ND beating Miami 17-3 halftime.
  20. This is basically a bye week for all of district 9-5a
  21. 1A D1 Union Hill vs. Abbott Friday, November 13 7pm Eustace ISD Stadium
  22. Your schools fans' were into it. I imagine a home in Nac is quite fun. LU is still a process in the making from that standpoint. More spectators than true fans, if that makes sense. Old man and I enjoyed the day!
  23. Best win Lamar has had in many years. Way to go!
  24. I thought it was a weird call too. I also learned that there has to be control when the hand is coming forward. It was a judgement call and the ones complaining would be silent had Missouri recovered it.
