We have the freedom to exercise religion guaranteed in the first amendment. People like to say “we’re a Christian Nation” and they’re wrong. We’re a nation where we’re free to be a Christian. Or not. You can be Athiest, Hindu, or even one of those Muslims if you want. We haven’t ever been a nation where Catholics and Protestants bombed each other. And I hope it stays that way. Both political parties recognize that tribalism is the best way to get people to vote.
