Only 9 of the guys on that list that you highlighted arr on scholarship. You guys keep proving my point. The rest walked on because they were attending Lamar as a regular student. Go back and check Lamar's signing classes.

Its a reason all the talentes kids are leaving the program. Is it the kids?? I dont think so. Is it the coaches? I think so because there system sure hasnt produce wins on the field.

Someone mentioned theyd love to see the WOS head coach or the PAM head coach apply fot the job after Woodard is let go and i agree im sure those two would run laps around Woodard when it comes to coaching
Can you give me a couple examples of, "all the talented kids leaving the program"?  I'm not aware of any talent leaving the program, except for graduating seniors.  And, where is all of this talent going?
Blake Chavis (A&M signee out of highschool) Greg Odens younger brother I cant think of his name right now, Jeremy Johnson (WVU out of highschool) Depauldrick Garrett left the program because Woodard wouldn't give him a full scholarship, Lamar signed a kid out of juco that had a USC off out of highschool he left the program.  And there are more I could go on and on.

Ok, let me get this straight.  Partial scholarships don't count, only full scholarships will satisfy you.  You listed a few names that left the program.  Where did these guys go after they left?

I know for a fact that Jeremy Johnson left West Virginia because they wanted him to play a different position besides QB.  He came to Lamar, was given an opportunity to play QB, then left when he wasn't the starter.  I think he enrolled at Blinn JC in order to play QB.  So he went from an FBS school, to a FCS school, to a JC.

You said Depauldrick Garrett left becuase he didn't get a full scholarship.  Where did he go after Lamar?

Same question for Blake Chavis.  He signed with Texas A&M, then transfered to Lamar.  Did he leave Lamar and go elsewhere?  If he did, where did he go?  According to the Lamar 2012 roster, Blake Chavis was a senior last season.  Does that mean he graduated from Lamar?

Blake Chavis quit because he wasn't haven his way. Oden left because of grade issues as did the Campbell kid you speak off who had an offer from USC. Garrett didn't leave the program he was on scholarship he just ran out of eligibility wasn't granted the 6th year. Jeremy Johnson another one who left because he wanted the starting QB job handed to him and he didn't want to compete for the job. They offered to let him play receiver and he said No so he goes to Blinn and doesn't get to play QB there either. So please go on

Blake Chavis lefy because he called coach Woodard out on his bs coaching. Its amazing how Oden could pass all his classes at Arkansas but couldn't pass at Lamar. Jeremy Johnson was promised the QB job Woodard didn't keep his promise.  Garrett was not on a full scholarship.

So you are basing your statement of, "all the talented kids are leaving the program"  on the following:
1.  On a person who left Texas A&M, transfered to Lamar and during his senior season called out Coach Woodard on his coaching style.  Why did he leave Texas A&M?  Did he call out Coach Sumlin also?
2.  On a person who passed classes at Arkansas but couldn't pass at Lamar.  Where did this Mr. Oden go to after he left Lamar?
3.  On a QB that was promised the job, but for whatever reason, couldn't keep the starting job.  We all know he left and went JC.
4.  On a student athlete who was not on full scholarship.  Where did Mr. partial scholarship go after Lamar?

Please understand that I DO NOT support Lamar.  I actually root against them from time-to-time.  I'm a Sam Houston State Bearkat!!!  However, I do follow athletes from SETX and your claims are terrible and have no substance.

OK guys, let me settle the Montana issue for you. He wanted to play at one of the schools in Utah for obvious reasons. This limited the number of schools who were asking about him because they felt they were wasting their time and a scholarship on someone who wouldn't accept. He only recently changed his mind about playing for other schools outside of Utah....and it sorta bit him. Now, he is going on his mission and will play at the end of that. This all coming from an extremely reliable source.

This is actually the 2012 Lamar roster.  (I took the seniors off the list, since they will not be playing in 2013, so you will not see them.)  Also each player's classification will be higher for the 2013 season.  In other words if this list says they are a freshman, they will be a sophomore for the 2013 season.  Also, I do not have the new group of players on this list.  However, according to the Lamar football website, there are 20 new players coming in and 3 have SETX ties.

That's 75 players on this list.  Add the 20 new players for the upcoming 2013 season and that makes a total of 95 palyers.

There are 25 players on this list from SETX.  Add the 3 players that are going to be on the team for 2013.  That makes 28 players on the 2013 roster from SETX.

Total players: 95
Players from SETX: 28
29% of the 2013 Lamar roster played high school football in SETX.  That's a little less than 1/3 of the entire roster.

Lamar is recruiting and signing players from SETX.  Some are even walking on and making the team.

So, jkbtjc53, what is your real problem with Lamar, Coach Woodard and the rest of his staff?
Actually, you can take DePauldrick Garrett's name off of that list because he graduated in December and was told that he would not qualify for a medical redshirt because he would be hard-pressed to win a 6th year.  It befuddles me because he was redshirted his first year at Navarro and then had the season-ending shoulder injury two years ago.  Players win those 6th years all of the time.  Of course, he was not even on a full-scholarship until last summer...he was on a partial.  There are some things that are taking place that put a very bad taste in people's mouths.

Instead of sticking with talent and players that had proven themselves in the past and sticking to his word that they would be on full scholarships, he stuck his neck out there and recruited the kids from OSU.  I was not surprised when Sims left the team after his court appearance and disposition.

If Lamar keeps up its current practices, this program will have the same fate as the 1980's program.  I hate to see it because it does provide an arena for kids to continue playing football while earning their degrees.
