Where are the WAC, Sunbelt, MWC invites ?
As frustrating and desperate I want the invite, an invite today would be a Sunbelt invite. An invite in early half of 2013  could be a MWC invite. Go ahead and laugh. Lamar has already given Woodard a FBS salary.
Nothing wrong with the Sun Belt.  Looking pretty stout this season.
Then why is UNT leaving?  lol

Lamar football is not good and won't be good for a while under a passive Woodard, therefore Lamar needs to consider what is best for MBB...AKA keeping Pat Knight here as long as possible.

SBC football....low ranking
MWC football....low ranking
SBC MBB....low ranking  19th of 30 conferences
MWC MBB...High ranking  8th

Lamar in the MWC would play 3-4 games on national tv every season. SLC and SBC, NONE.
Pat Knight would stay more than 10 years at Lamar in the MWC. In the SBC, maybe 5. SLC, he is gone in 3 years.
Pure speculation on what Pat Knight would do if Lamar was in the MWC or how much Lamar would be on tv.  Also, MWC is ranked 8th now, maybe not in 5 years.

Also, football is driving expansion.  Basketball would be a lot better in the MWC, but Lamar has very little control over that and Lamar has to think how football will be affected if they change conferences.

If Lamar does end up in the MWC, it'll be after all the "name" schools leave and it'll be a shell of it's former self.  I still say Lamar will end up in the Sun Belt within 5 years.
Cola, do some research. The 3 worst MBB, TCU, BSU, and AFA, are leaving, Not a recipe for a conference getting worst in MBB.

Cola you are kookoo if you think ESPN is not going to put on national tv a top 25 UNLV vs a Pat Knight team. And a top 25 UNM vs Pat Knight late night western game.

Yes, football is driving realignment. However MWC football is as bad as SBC. Like Lamar, MWC will be thinking of its prize sport until football catches up....if it ever catches up.

Again, can you imagine Lamar vs UNLV in that new on campus stadium walking distant from LV BLVD. And it would be a winnable game. I can see lots of LU fans making the trip on a $129 Southwest airline special. Unless Lamar to UL-Monroe is more attractive.

More money, more recognizable teams(whats left of them), and a few more centrally located teams in the Western Div. of the conference.

UNLV you live in some kind of fantasyland. If Lamar was a FBS program, I could understand expanding the staduim to 30k (like Texas State did). However Lamar is a startup FCS program. Once they start acing winning seasons and gain support, I would understand expanding the staduim.

There is nothing worse as a fan than going to a game and seeing the fans half full (Rice is an example).

I dunno Wreckem2011.  I know that utsa went from having nothing to building something in just 3-4 years from scratch.  I know they are in San Antonio and don't have to compete with other sports teams with the exception of their NBA team.  They have a dynamite athletic director, hired a "name coach", did a great marketing job to the businesses in San Antonio, and in a short period of time (two years of competition), the roadrunners are a known commodity, headed for CUSA.  Having the Alamodome for a stadium certainly helps.  Personally, I detest utsa for being so successful (so far).  What did they win, 2-3 games last year, and they really haven't really played anyone this year to get that 4-0 record.  that will all change over the course of the season.  Can't see them being any better than 4-8.

Point is, Lamar could have done the same thing.  They could easily get the donations to enlarge PU Stadium.  Heck, just adding seats to the North end zone bowl would be nice and an easy thing to do.
UTSA didn't have to expand a stadium. HUGE difference. Also they have a metro pop of 2 million. They were prime for FBS from the word go!
2 million is not the reason for UTSA picking the right coach and good recruits and smart scheduling.
GSU is in an area of 6 million yet they have a poor record and attendance less than Lamar.

why...even our beloved UNLV stadium opened in 1971 with seating for 15k...didnt expand  on that for 7 years...but..judging from this years attendance (15k avg-4 games), the expansion was not needed

of course..the largest crowd in history isnt the team, but the Grateful Dead...

desert mentality

sure it was.... ::)

so, whats the problem now?..big city....they have "the market" as you love to say...2 million people ..the big time Mountain West ...they draw the same as LU..
We may disagree, but you don't have to call me a liar. The stadium was packed. The Thomas and Mack was packed. I don't know what happened between then and now. Maybe chronic losing, maybe the economy since Vegas is the worse hit city inj all the USA, maybe entertainment competition, I don't know why. However they are trying to fix the problem with a on campus stadium. Not finding a weaker conference to hide away the way Lamar did by rejoining the SLC.

Oh really?  Since you said that you were at UNLV in the mid-90's, I'm assuming you're saying the stadium was packed during Jeff Horton's 13-44 campaign from '94 to '98?  And this time frame includes a 7-5 year.  I'll let you retract that statement if you like before I dig through some archives to further reduce your credibility.

lil sensitive when presented with facts from an ignorant southeast texan

as i have said (ever since you started --first with the WAC-kiness)..if Lu goes FBS, I'm good with it..where I differ...i think LU, if they were to go FBS..should stay east --which would be sunbelt...states where SETEX can identify with and know..not out in the desert where, with a very few exceptions..people could give a squat about college football...I would like us in a conference with UL-L, you--Idaho

if we stay FCS..I'm fine with that also--SLC is a good FCS conference--for what its worth...i think winning the FCS championship is more impressive than winning many of these watered down bowl games.
Idaho is not in the MWC. Ofcourse I would never call you ignorant.

If you like the SLC and SBC, then that is your choice., I like the MWC better than both those conferences.I just have better taste.

Ah, I get it now.  You fback up your claims of the Rebels' ability to pack its stadium based on the opponent's travel-heavy fan base.  So I guess LU should expand their stadium so the fan-loyal Wisconsins of the world will come, much like the series with UNLV.  Yeah.

exactly...they care what their donors think...im an alumnus and attend every game and spend my money at the concessions but im not a big donor...they wont listen to me...maybe everyone should call the alumni that has donated money and have them put pressure on the administration to make changes...
