North Texas @ Texas - Game Thread.
Green Menace replied to whatnamecanipick's topic in College Sports Forum
I was at the game. In no way did I think North Texas could win, but I sure didn't expect them to look so bad offensively. A really sad showing by our offense regardless of who we were playing. Texas? I think they'll get pasted by BYU. -

Strong's Ex Horns on the move to possibly Lamar

Transfers like this are a crapshoot. Sometimes they can screw up other players. But they are worth a shot. -

How did Baylor lose to UCF in that BCS bowl game? -
Yep. And Dan McCarney has suspended them from the team. Will probably kick them off the team, as well he should.

2015 TXST Bobcat Recruiting Thread
Green Menace replied to BobcatDis's topic in College Sports Forum
30,500. The end zone wing really helps hold in the crown noise. Makes it sound like a much larger stadium. It really is nice stadium, and state of the art. Wired for TV broadcast and the works.- 141 replies

All Major FBS Schedules and Predictions
Green Menace replied to eagleswoodville#1's topic in College Sports Forum
Where are the predictions for UTSA, Texas State, and North Texas? If you are going to predict "all" Texas, major FBS schedules, then predict all of them. -

Lamar needs to push for the Sun Belt. A tough conference, with all the changes taking place, I see the Sun Belt equal to the new CUSA.
-
ODU and UNC-Charlotte are moving to CUSA. Many feel these additions were made to appease East Carolina Univ, who subsequently decided to move to the Big East along with Tulane. Thanks guys! Neither of those additions would have been my first choices. CUSA should have gone after Georgia Southern. Good FCS program with history.
Don't understand the comment. Ark State, WKU, or ULL in reference to what???
Ha! a first class brain fart! I had another thread in my head! If I were the Sun Belt Commissioner, I'd add Appl. State and Georgia Southern. Good programs.

Whoa, hold your horses for LU to the SBC.

"Yeah, ark st and ULL will join Tulsa and go MWC. Hahahaha. oh my i'm dying. " That's only half of it. Some are talking about Arkansas State and the Big 12 in the same sentence, as in moving to the B12 conference. Now "that" is hilarious! -
I agree another startup is a gamble, but travel to Idaho is not appealing to anyone currently in the SBC I don't care how long they been playin' football up there.
Very true. Have you ever seen the barn Idaho plays in? -

Green Menace replied to UNLV's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
The only fly in the ointment for Lamar is whether the Sun Belt is will to extend an invitation to another startup program. Especially when they can easily call on New Mexico State and Idaho, two programs without a home. And they are well-established at the FBS level. -

Money to join the Sun Belt. Plus stadium expansion. Ideally, FBS programs have stadiums seating a minimum of 30,000. Some stadiums are <30k. WKU, Akron, and a few other MAC schools come to mind. -

That's not all folks. Florida Atlantic has accepted an invite to CUSA. Make that CUSA III. -

Don't underestimate the Sun belt. It's a good FBS league. Should get 5-6 teams in bowls this year. Of course, nowadays, bowls are like the "everybody gets a trophy" mantra. -

Hope Lamar gets the Sun Belt invite. But gawed, the pounding you guys would take for a while against the likes of Arkansas State, Middle Tenn, Western Ky. And you've met ULL. Wow. -
Lamar opens season tonight at Kansas St.
Green Menace replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Hang in there Lamar fans, you now face a North Texas team that lost to DII Alabama-Huntsville last night. You will face our pre-season All-American, Tony Mitchell, who played uninspired basketball in the loss. I guess he's concentrating on how high of a lottery pick he be during the NBA drafts. Last night was a total embarrassment. Oh, and if you have any player that can shoot from the 3-point range, have at it. Your guys will shoot uncontested from the arc. Ala-Huntsville had a field day last night. -
Lamar mentioned as Sunbelt canidate
Green Menace replied to UNLV's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
The people on the Sun Belt board are just pumping their chests. SBC is having a decent year in football and they want to show "lowly" Lamar (not my words, but their thinking) they are big time FBS and Lamar is not worthy. Fact is, the big time is now the five major conferences, and it doesn't include the Big East. -
As frustrating and desperate I want the invite, an invite today would be a Sunbelt invite. An invite in early half of 2013 could be a MWC invite. Go ahead and laugh. Lamar has already given Woodard a FBS salary.
Nothing wrong with the Sun Belt. Looking pretty stout this season.
Then why is UNT leaving? lol Lamar football is not good and won't be good for a while under a passive Woodard, therefore Lamar needs to consider what is best for MBB...AKA keeping Pat Knight here as long as possible. SBC football....low ranking MWC football....low ranking SBC MBB....low ranking 19th of 30 conferences MWC MBB...High ranking 8th Lamar in the MWC would play 3-4 games on national tv every season. SLC and SBC, NONE. Pat Knight would stay more than 10 years at Lamar in the MWC. In the SBC, maybe 5. SLC, he is gone in 3 years.
More money, more recognizable teams(whats left of them), and a few more centrally located teams in the Western Div. of the conference.
