  1. It is nice. I've been here for 8 years and it has grown a lot. My family and i love the area. The only thing it is missing is pine trees and country roads. I never realized how pretty pine trees were until I moved away from them.
  2. That's awesome for Frisco. Their current facilities at great. They also gave access to Dr.Pepper Park. The Allen facility is great as well. I heard Prosper is considering something like this as well. These facilities are great for the communities because they help sell homes, bring in businesses, create jobs, and help with school taxes. Great job Frisco.
  3. It looks like Lamar may not be going to the MWC afterall. Maybe one day....... the Subelt will offer. [Hidden Content]
  4. Right now I think SHSU gets the nod over Lamar. I am ready for that MWC invite we were told that was going to happen.
  5. The blame lies with nobody. Why does there always have to be someone to blame ? Kelly is young, & the teams they have played are better than they are. This happens to programs, especially in the small schools. Kelly will build and get better. Kelly has been good over the past few years due to the junior high feeder system and Long & Hartsfield are both great coaches. Things are looking up for Kelly.
  6. Based on football this season, I hope we end up in the MWC like unlv, because the Sunbelt schools have been beating the SEC and ACC. Lamar may have to accept "the invite" from the MWC that UNLV talks about.
  7. I agree. I want Lamar to be successful. I don't want them to get blown out each game they play. If this happens, no matter how big the staduim is, nobody will come out and watch them play.
  8. UNLV you live in some kind of fantasyland. If Lamar was a FBS program, I could understand expanding the staduim to 30k (like Texas State did). However Lamar is a startup FCS program. Once they start acing winning seasons and gain support, I would understand expanding the staduim. There is nothing worse as a fan than going to a game and seeing the fans half full (Rice is an example).
  9. Maybe when we get our "MWC or Big 12 invite", we need to expand. I don't see Lamar expanding the staduim to play SFA.
  10. All I know is "that junior high coach" took them to the state game. He was the coach that got the job done. He made tweaks and ran everything accordingly. You can't say the success they had last year was due to someone else. If that was the case Kelly would have at least been going deep in the playoffs for the past few years. Clint is a great coach and person. It's kind of ironic that some of the same people I see on here was not patient with him and criticizing him, however this year is completely different.  Some of these same people that bashed him never apologized for their comments.
  11. Lamar doesn't need to go anywhere until they are contention to win the Southland. I think UTEP makes a lot more sense to join the MWC than Lamar.
  12. Menace, I agree with your post. I even made a similar comment last night on another post. ULL is legit. It has taken them a number of years for them to get where they are right now. In today's sports, everyone has this "win now" mentality, but we often forget that Rome wasn't built in one day. It takes time, patience, and luck for a start up program to start producing. 5 years is a good measuring stick because it will take the first true freshman class to graduate for winning seasons to begin regularly. It is similar to opening a new school. The players have to learn how to win college football games in order to e successful. Give the coaches time. As I stated in my other post, Lamar has to get out of SE Texas and market other cities if they want to win.  Lamar has to overcome the commuter school image and people need to know Lamar has a football team. Again, this will take time.
  13. Give him a little more time. I think this is year 3 with the program starting back up. It's not like he has D1 players knocking down the door to play at Lamar. He is doing things right by going places and trying to get the Lamar football name outside of SE Texas. When people think Lamar they think Basketball or Baseball. Lamars biggest challenge is going to be name recognition with football. They need to advertise in DFW, Houston, San Antonio, New Orleans, and Shreveport. In addition, they need to find ways to get their games televised in these cities as well. It may take 2 more years, before Woodward can truly be evaluated fairly in my opinion. I want Lamar to be successful as well and maybe join the Sunbelt, but the time is not right... yet. Let's not forget, the team they played is more experienced, BFS, and won a bowl game last year.
  14. It will be a while. They just moved up from 4A, and their community is becoming land locked. I personally don't ever see them moving up.
  15. A lot of those teams Allen played had the same amount of players in their programs. The Plano schools probably have more than Allen. What hurt Allen was when the people in Lucas decided they wanted their own school and Lovejoy High School was built. A lot of Allen talent went out there. With Lovejoy now being 4a, we will see what happens now.
  16. I agree. We live on the west side also. I know for a fact one year Allen's Freshman team had 85 players on their A,B, and C teams. I remember counting them when we played them.
  17. Allen passed this bond to pay for these facilities a few years ago. I think it has been great for the city. Home prices have risen, people are actually moving here for this and our school, the school will make money from the home games and playoffs in football, lacrosse, soccer,, and the city will make money from these sporting events. Allen's home games will sell out, and I know of another school that is proposing a similar bond for their November bonds.
  18. Clint Hartsfield. He "was just a junior high coach" when Kelly hired him as the head coach. I think he had a good year.
