This was done close to  the end of Bobby August's tenure in 1991.  Nederland went from a black helmet with Steeler gold NB on it to the current helmet and uniforms.  Nuemann came on in 1993.

I knew it was around that time, I was C/O 93, but could not remember the exact time of the change.  Those were rough times for football, I do remember that!

I believe Nederland started playing football officially in 1927. A couple of years later PN started playing and then a few more years and they became PNG and thus the start of MCM.

This has always been a point of confusion. I always hear Nederland folks saying they started playing football in 1927. PN-G's records indicate that the then-Port Neches Indians started playing football in 1925 and played Nederland four times altogether in 1925 and 1926 (Nederland won the first game in 1925 and then Port Neches won the next three). I also know from reading Dr. Ford's book that the student body picked the school colors and the team name in 1925.

Anyone with a little more information have an explanation?

When your teams suck all you got to talk about is who stole who's colors and uniforms.  I'll tell all three teams this, you can have these urgly ars BH uniforms right now.  ;)

I was class of '92, so it was my senior year.  I  don't remember the uniforms exactly so I am not sure.  I do remember the pep rally when we unveiled the new look.  Lots of excitement then!!  Too bad August couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag.
