Lamar coaches talk about QBs Bevil and Johnson

Recommended Posts

Jeremy Johnson looked typical for an extremely fast running qb.  He has only average passing skill.  Bevil is still Bevil good passer but poor descision maker.  Doubt that it will happen but I would like to see Prewitt just to see what he might bring.  Other than that I am ready for Johnson to start as Bevil is a senior and while he has played good at times it does not seem he can perform consistently against better competition and will be gone after four more games.

Christy why dont you ask some questions about football instead of a soap opera BS? Did you wake up stupid? Coaches are doing the best they can and some idiot writer shows up with igorant questions? Dont quit your daytime job kid.

Be careful, you aren't allowed to promote Prewitt on this website.

I agree with most of your post except for Johnson starting.  We would have to go to a non-throwing offense for him to play.  He cannot throw the football.  Note:  one requirement of the quarterback should be that he can throw the football?  Isn't that the point of a quarterback?  What am I missing here?

Jeremy should start, he is your future.  And can someone please teach the DB's how to catch a football.  Geez..

Good lord.  This is like banging my head against the wall...but oh well.  Jeremy Johnson is not ready to be a college quarterback.  He CANNOT THROW THE FOOTBALL.  How hard is that to see/understand??!!!  UGGGGHHHH!!!

As for Bevil, I have consistently bashed him.  However, his first half play against UCA was spectacular.  Yes, I said it, spectacular.  He made good decisions, was very accurate, and THREW THE BALL ON TIME.  Unbelievable.  He wasn't scrambling around to make plays.  Oh and the play calling was very good as well.  Why we went to Johnson in the second half is beyond me.  I could have understood it if Bevil was Bevil but he wasn't.  He was fantastic.

So, for now, I am prepared to somewhat back off on my Prewitt backing BUT, knowing the history of Bevil, it won't take me long to get on his case.

Between Johnson and Bevil it appears to be a no brainer.  You have to go with Bevil.  Oh, and I see nothing wrong with putting Johnson at tailback for some plays.  Hopefully he can catch because his future is at wide receiver.  If not, he better put on a few lbs and play defense or become a running back.

According to the TV broadcast, Bevil had hurt his left ankle and that's why Johson started the 2nd half. Thank God they got Bevil in to throw that game clinching pick 6.

    • He actually had a pretty solid year for a sophomore starting in that district. I can assure you, it hasn't hurt his recruiting at all and that will only improve with the move back to the Wack.
    • If Crumedy eventually has bigger aspirations than being in Jasper, every aspect of the program will be looked at when someone interviews him for any job. He knows that. The mindset needs to be that any time someone wears a Jasper uniform, that they're doing everything they possibly can to win. It matters.
    • This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up It's a poll but I could definitely see this as realistic.   From the article: Catholics in the United States have swung dramatically against President Biden in recent years, now boasting a significant statistical break towards his GOP challenger. Pew Research released on Apr. 30 a report exploring support for presidential candidates sorted by religious affiliation. The poll found that 55% of Catholics support or lean towards supporting former President Donald Trump in a head-to-head against Biden. Conversely, only 45% of Catholics support Biden in the same one-on-one pairing. The 12% margin of support in favor of Trump marks a significant shift from 2020, when he held an extremely narrow lead — 50% to 49%. Biden currently leads among Hispanic Catholics with a narrow 49%-47% split, but the close contest marks a major shift rightward for the demographic. In 2020, a similar poll from Pew Research found Hispanic Catholics preferred Biden to Trump with a staggering 67%-26% split.
    • You said a lot there. Truthfully, that is the root of the issue. Who cares what a kid thinks about how coaches are running a program? Kids play, coaches coach. For some reason, parents have this backward in a lot of places and its wreaking havoc.
