Not yet (they haven't played anyone capable of exposing their weaknesses) but after Friday it will be Vidor! They will finish district play with very few wins Simply because they weren't properly prepped for
A game as tough as a district game can be. I'm trying to not take anything away from their kids, they may actually have some talent but without true pre-season preparation they will be half way through district before they are beginning to come around. The players will be playing catch up to the teams who played a real schedule. JMO

I disagree Two Dogs. I think there is something to be said for building your kids' confidence. Those kids at Vidor are believing they can compete with any team in the district right now. They are off to the best start in school history and while you are right that Friday night will show just how good they really are, you can bet they believe they can win. And that kind of heart and attitude is exactly what that team needed. I think it will be a great game with Vidor having an excelllent shot at pulling off the upset at home. They already played Nederland tough in a scrimmage setting earlier this year. Those kids are ready to run through a brick wall. Gonna be a great game.

Tinytorpedo I agree about building confidence. That can be done by playing a few "gimme" games in the pre-season not the entire schedule though. I think today's kids are smart enough to realize they haven't played any competition so I'm not sure how much confidence those vidor boys may have right now. I say this with experience as I am a PNG fan. For the last several years we have played a pre-season schedule similar to the one vidor has set up this year. What I saw those years once we reached district play was a group of kids that were totally unprepared to play against the sharper players who had been forced to actually compete in the pre-season. BTW we may have swung a bit too far the other way this year especially with the late arrivals of our football players but only time will tell. I hope I am wrong about vidor but my brain just keeps reminding me that you gotta play "up"
Don't think PN-G is a good example. They could play a tough pre-season schedule and it would not make a difference ;)

Hey Big Ford,
Will Vidor "loose" or will they "lose"?  ::)

Before talking too much smack, get to your English tutorials.

How can Vidor be the most over-rated?? Haven't seen or read anything giving them a good review.. If anything I would vote Vidor under-rated... Good athletes around a great scorer in Williamson, makes for a team that is able to pull off some upsets this. And I EXPECT them to.

Agreed. Nobody is on here beating their chests saying Vidor will win district. Nobody from Vidor is talking smack. They are not ranked or getting any POSITIVE publicity. To be overrated, you would first have to be rated. Vidor is QUIETLY winning games, gaining confidence, learning to win and growing as a team. It is a shame that so many haters have come out.

Vidor is ranked #10 in the SETXsports.com poll. Maybe that is what folks are referring to.

ya exactly..10th... Wow...w three district teams ahead of them... Cant say that is a great rating..
i'd say it's pretty generous considering they're 12 games into the season without playing a team above 3A, or a quality opponent, for that matter.

The KIDS don't make the schedule and the KIDS won all the games they were supposed to win... Seems that people are bitter that they haven't loss.. Vidor has lost to some of these teams in recent years.. I'm not saying they will win state, or district for that matter but no need to discredit what the kids have done so far because the COACH put together a weak schedule. At least wait for them to get blown out to rip them apart, and tell them how over-rated they are. Then I'd be right with you guys.. As I am just as against THAT weak of a schedule.

    • We'll see. I don't trust us.
    • Starting pitching has been shaky the last few weeks due to some injuries outside of Hagen Smith.  He goes tomorrow, so y’all should be fine
    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
