  1. Is Gilcrest a "basketball first" or "football first" coach? Is he the guy that English wants as the 1st assistant? Has English been given the opportunity to hire his guy?
  2. The 1st assistant in basketball is like the OC or DC in football. They serve a very important role to the success of the team on Tue/Fri nights as well as the overall development of the program. It's asanine for a 4A/5A school not to have a "basketball first" first assistant for the basketball program. What are the OC/DC's certified to teach? Why aren't those positions limited to science/math certifications? Would Neuman hire a "basketball first" or "baseball first" coach to fill those positions?
  3. Maybe 2 returning players. They will be very young. I believe Sterling will be the guy.
  4. Congrats to Luke. I had the pleasure of coaching him from 7th-9th grade. He is truly a remarkable young man. He epitomizes everything about the Aggie Spirit. Welcome to Aggieland Luke and Gig 'em! Fighting Texas Aggie Class of '01
  5. :-\ WOW Blue, Trying to take credit away from a high school KID? It's not like they draw names out of a hat. The District's coaches voted for him and he deserves to be recognized. You may not like it, you may not agree with it, you may have your opinion....but stay classy. (and that's my opinion  ;))
  6. I thought someone posted earlier that over 40 had applied for the job. Did they trim the fat down to 16, or did only 16 apply.
  7. I agree. Unfortunately, politics will always be a part of the job. This will be a "tough" decision for a new young Superintendent, and it could define his stay in WOCCISD. Most in the community obviously want Cornel, but some of the board members may want to go a different direction. The safe play would be to promote CT, but that may mean the Supe loses board support or factures it more than what it already is. Not promoting CT means upsetting the community but keeping the board happy. It's going to be interesting... On a side note, if CT does not get it, Toby definately won't.
  8. Maybe the administration is ready for a change. I know a few board members that were happy to see Hooks retire and would like to shift the focus of WOS from "football" to "academics". I'm not saying I agree with their sentiment, but there are those that want to fill the power vacuum with someone they have more control over.
  9. I have 3 tickets to the UIL Boys State Tournament. They are for all sessions. The seats are on the 3rd row mid court. It is hard to find any better seats then these! I will sell them for face value, PM me if you are interested.
  10. Any athlete that has ever played knows that the one who retaliates is more likely to get caught. It sounds like he played right into the HF kid's hand. Like I said earlier, he should have smiled and whispered score board in his ear.
  11. Well if he controls his emotion and does not retaliate...no ejection. I know Sutherland does not approve of that type of behavior. You are winning, just smile and look at the scoreboard.
  12. Wish they would have played with that kind of fire last week  :-\
  13. I don't know why Roc would not give up the gym, there would be a higher attendance for high school games  ;D
  14. ::) Yeah if Vidor had only played Silsbee, PA Memorial, West Brook, Galveston Ball, and Yates they would be District Champs!  ::) Good luck Vidor...Keep the Faith! "All for One, One for All"
  15. IMHO, Tournament games- Casual (windsuits, jumpsuits, coaching gear) Non District- Coaching polo and khakis District - Dress up (Slacks, button ups, tie, vest, etc.)
  16. Just got my tickets in the mail. 3rd row, mid court for all 18 games! Hope to be watching some local teams.
  17. Good list. Hard to argue against any of those players. Troop was fun to watch as he pumped in over 30 ppg.
  18. Well don't beat around the bush, just come out and say Vidor. Continue to use this site to bash a Coach and a school. Say what you will about the OCC game, but Vidor played half court man the entire 2nd half of the Kirbyville game with mostly bench players. I highly doubt the coach told his players to foul so they can score 100. I find it amusing and pathetic that you are going to judge the character and integrity of a coach, his players and their school because of one game where you feel the score was run up.
