Just thought some of you Indian faithful might be interested. Stories I've heard makes me believe he was quite a fan.

The funeral went well. Indian Ken's pastor delivered the eulogy, after which, we (the band) played Cherokee as the body was loaded into the hurse. His body was then brought to Oak Bluff cemetery, where he was given full military honors for his service in the Air Force. The band kids in attendance then thanked Ms. Young for allowing us to participate in the service and one of our members told her that it meant as much to us as it did to her. She thanked us for our participation, and we dispersed. It was very honorable, as all parties involved (SETX Veterans, the band, several of the students in other extra-curricular activities, the pastor, the fans, etc.) were able to express their gratitude for his unwavering support of their respective groups.

It was a very nice service. I'd also like to say that the school district needs to be commended for jumping through all those hoops (The state health department, TEA, Jefferson County Sherriff's Department, etc.) to get permission for the service to be held in the auditorium in such a timely manner.

We played the long version twice. We were unfortunately not in uniform, but with good reason. Many alumni came back and played Cherokee, and they only had their purple pride shirts, so the decision was made that we would wear the same thing.

If you live within the broadcasting range of KFDM or KBMT, you might be able to get a glimpse of the funeral processions. Both stations had camera crews on site.
