TheMissingBand Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago It’s comical to me when places recruit a super team then feel pride despite the fact that they couldn’t win with the talent they had on hand. Especially when you think what would happen if schools like PNG were willing to ignore the rules with all of the resources at their disposal. I’d rather lose with our kids that grew up here than win with some kids who stopped here for part of a season. jayhawk, CCRed, southoakcliffintellectual and 2 others 4 1 Quote

I can only think of one starter at SOC who transferred in this year...a WR from Skyline and I think Morton moved in 2.5 yrs ago....vast majority of those kids have been at SOC since their freshman year to my knowledge Boyz N Da Hood, Mr. Buddy Garrity and KF89 3 Quote

When you become a prestige program I dont think they have to "recruit" oer say all that much and people want to move there to play. Quote

South Oak Cliff shares a 20 mile radius with Duncanville, Desoto, Waxahachie, Carter, Kimball, Roosevelt, Sunset, Adamson, Wilmer Hutchins, Lancaster and Red Oak: 6 playoff teams and 3 national contenders. So that whole "super team" thing sounds like tears. Sure, a program's success can serve as a recruitment tool, but anyone in the know will tell you SOC lends out more talent than they get. Duncanville's last 5 star lived in SOC's community. As well as a ton of Desoto's starters. SOC sent more players to the NFL than any other high school long before they sniffed a State Title appearance. The community has ALWAYS been overflowing with talent. SOC's problem has always been inadequate coaching and facilities. Now that they've caught up in those areas, folk are whining about the talent that has always been there. PNG does well to compete wuth the like of SOC, just like any community. Be humble and enjoy the experience Boyz N Da Hood and Mr. Buddy Garrity 2 Quote

I'm sure they learned their lesson since then. The lesson of how not to get caught. Are we speaking on one grade from one student over 20 years ago, that ultimately came down to one assignment? all of this from some overzealous teacher that ended up writing a book...? go with the sensationalism if that makes you feel better. the only thing sordid here is the behavior and lack of class from your community. Win or lose, you're not doing your boys any favors Quote

jayhawk Posted 6 hours ago Report Posted 6 hours ago I didn’t realize there were so many SOC apologists on this fourm so in that light I got one thing to say and I quote -----'----------" GO PNG"----' #COUGAR08 1 Quote
TheMissingBand Posted 5 hours ago Report Posted 5 hours ago Any team pulling from a population zone whose size matched the zone that SOC pulls from would be equally stout, if not more so. It’s the reason that Newton can’t compete with Allen. When you have 300 kids to pick from, you get a certain level of talent… if you’ve got 15,000 kids to pick from, you’re going to end up with a team that wears out teams who have 2200 kids to pick from. That’s not coaching, that’s not talent… they’re not breaking the rules, it’s just not something to be proud of. Quote
Reagan Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago The way I see it: Last year SOC had the revenge factor in their corner. This year they may a little over confident. On the other side, I'm thinking PNG may have a little surprise in store. We shall see! Quote
