kirkwood29 Posted 18 hours ago Report Posted 18 hours ago Does the historical season continue or come to an end? I don't know much about Yoakum but it seems like the Hornets had all they wanted from Hitchcock and escaped defeat. What does this game look like on paper and who comes out ahead? Quote
89Falcon Posted 17 hours ago Report Posted 17 hours ago Hardin definitely has a chance to win but Yoakum is tough. They beat West Columbia and Hitchcock earlier in the year and only lost close games to Cuero and Columbus. Obviously, they beat a previously undefeated Fairfield team last week. Yoakum is the favorite but not so much that Hardin cant slip up on them. Quote
setxnative453 Posted 17 hours ago Report Posted 17 hours ago Hardin learns from there mistakes, what Hardin has to understand is that they will be facing premium football programs going forward that will have an answer for the double tight wing t. keep your identity mix and master outside runs , be pass ready to make them respect you and back a couple guys off of you, and they will be hard to stop. Because the moment one isn’t prepared the Hardin line will devour any of these defensive fronts. I think the game against Hitchcock prepared them to dominate Yoakum. I think they are a reflection of each others. With a better running game but obviously from the close call earlier in the season they aren’t much better on paper. I think Hardin improves as the clock ticks. 30-22Hardin Quote

Not saying Hitchcock did , I’m saying the atmosphere the grit the effort, they had to dig deep and that alone in itself shows them that difficulties and regrouping day in and day out are ahead, Yoakum is not much better than Hitchcock on paper. Beat Hitchcock by 4 points Hitchcock was up 14-10 at half and 20-16 going into the 4th. Yoakum pulled away in the 4th out scoring them 14-6. halletsville 35-7 Hitchcock 49-27 Yoakum Losses Columbus 26-7 Hitchcock 28-10 Yoakum Wins Hempstead 35-0 Hitchcock 48-13 Yoakum Point differential Hitchcock +103-63 = 40 Yoakum +137-94= 43 Pretty close Texasdude281 1 Quote

Vini vidi Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago No bad teams left. now it’s about how you match up, playing sound o/d, not getting beat by alignment, making plays in critical situations, and getting lucky breaks. would love to see hardin play December football Quote
2wedge Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago My biggest question mark on Hardin going into the playoff is whether the bigger stages would cause them to get sh*t in their necks and fold. Last week, at a premier stadium, against a team full of great athletes, in a closely contested game, Hardin answered those questions for me. Now, the stadium gets bigger, the athletes get better, and the stage lights get brighter. Playing after Thanksgiving for the first time in maybe ever, they will get a chance to prove it again. The old adage goes, "There ain't any turkeys left after Thanksgiving", and Hardin has proven they ain't no turkey. Quote
1970 Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago Yoakum seems to always be tough in football. I haven't looked for data, but I am somewhat, actually more than a little, surprised that Hardin and Yoakum are in the same classification; Yoakum being quite a bit larger area and enrollment. Obviously they are, of course, but I've been through Yoakum and it's a fair sized town, compared to Hardin. Anyway, I guess all of this is meaningless on the football field, and I'm going with Hardin. This team will take it to anybody. Quote
