There was an even better one ‘09-ish that caught Coldspring in the first round when CS was really good. We lost one of the defensive ends tonight, plus my understanding is that Breeden was a maybe, but suited up…. But not at 100 percent. We weren’t as dominant as we have been-didn’t get a lot of pressure on their qb. I didn’t see spending much time in their backfield at all. Good game, but we left the door open for them to come back and make it a game. To their credit, Nav didn’t give up, even when down by 3 tds in the third. I felt like we got a little conservative in the same stretch, but up by 3tds, you should. Nav just didn’t roll over like they were suooosed to. *im supposed to mention that #68 in blue was a class act after the game. Quote

There wasn’t much impressive happening 2007-2009. 2011-2012 defense may be the one you’re thinking about. That team was as talented as BC has had with Menard, Dishon, Hubbard etc etc. The entire 2007-2015 was robbed by the incompetence at HC. I’m still not sure how Coach Cris Stump was able to finagle sticking around collecting a check for nearly a decade with a grand total of (0!) playoff wins. Left at least a handful of playoff wins out there in the time frame. Complete highway robbery from Coach who was supposed to be an offensive guru yet called plays like he had money on the other team. Anywho, this current BC defense is very very good. They gang tackle, are in the right spot & make you feel it. Coaching staff has been impressive on all sides of the ball. Proof is in the pudding, you need the Johnny’s & the Joes but coaching is king. Keep fighting Cards! TheMissingBand 1 Quote

Our secondary is our weakest spot imo. I knew those Nav receivers were going to give them problems. I'm surprised they didn't come out throwing it more in the second half. I don't remember much of the 2009 season. I do remember the Dishon era and they were great, but I don't think they were as dominant as this defense I'm seeing this year. Someone mentioned it in this thread, gang tackling....there's 2 or 3 guys making tackles almost every play. Keep up the good work Cards! CavemanFootballJunkie 1 Quote
PolkHighLegend Posted Saturday at 07:09 PM Report Posted Saturday at 07:09 PM I can't wait to watch this historically great defense against Kilgore next week! Great job Cardinals! It's been a great run Kilgore but you have now run into the best defense you have ever faced! I'd be surprised if the UIL even makes Bridge City show up to play this one. I mean it's pretty much beneath them at this point. TheMissingBand 1 Quote

Especially coming into these playoffs having to hear oh Chapel Hill gonna put up 56 on BC. Oh they got lucky and Chapel Hill beat themselves, good luck because Navasota is gonna roll yall. Kilgore is gonna be a dog fight. I've been following high school football a long time and I know what kind of team the Cards are about to face. Go Cards! Quote

What I do see is that BC fans are excited about their football team and that hasn’t really been the case in a long while. The season will end at some point no matter what but BC football has come a long way. I don’t have a dog in the fight but definitely rooting for success for all the 409 teams. flytotheball and DLivingston 2 Quote
