I personally don't believe that Tylenol causes autism, but could see it being one of a set of factors that may cause it. I think you can make an easy connection between things that a lot of people do (many, many pregnant women take aspirin) to just about anything. I could make a convincing argument that drinking water while you're pregnant increases the chances of having an autistic child, because 100% of the mothers of autistic children drank water while they were pregnant. Having worked with autistic children for the last several years, I tend to think that there are many, many factors that likely lead to a child being born autistic. I 1000% percent agree with AAW that it is much better diagnosed today than it was in the past. Most cases of autism when I was a kid were just kids who were "weird" or "different." I also agree with 5GB that there are more cases today as well. A lot is still not known about what causes autism, but there is one factor that has been definitively proven to increase the odds of having an autistic child, and that is the age of the parents. Older parents are much more likely to give birth to an autistic child. A woman in her 30s is twice as likely to have an autistic child than a woman in her 20s. A woman in her 40s is five times as likely to give birth to an autistic child than a woman in her 20s. Just in the last generation or two there's been a big increase in couples waiting well into their 30s and even 40s to start families. Without a doubt that explains (some) of the increase in autism. And I'm sure there are other environmental and dietary factors as well that are not understood yet.

1000% agree.

My point about Trump is that he wanted (or needed in some way) to point the finger at one particular drug company. It just looks like a witch hunt which I personally believe it is for whatever reason.

I think it's simply another headline grabber moment for Trump. No real substance behind this move.

Who knows? Cancer was around long before we discovered that some tings cause cancer,

Your hatred for Trump really shows. Trump did not come up with this Tylenol theory, there is research and Doctors that support it.

Again I ask - they are not outlawing it, they are suggesting you don't take it while pregnant.....so, just incase it is true, wouldn't you want to be warned?

Some acid reflux meds are linked to increase in dementia.... I'm not taking them JUST. IN. CASE.  i guess if Trump announces it, we will have you and social media taking videos of you ingesting them?

The idiot should have had the sense to say “acetaminophen”.  He is not a leader.

Past posts from an X account associated with the Tylenol brand are going viral, especially one that states, “We don’t recommend using any of our products while pregnant.”  This could be just a general warning and nothing specific.

Don't you wish you were an idiot so you could have his level of success?

It defies logic that an "idiot" could be a successful as Trump has been, don't you think?

Wish my dad had left me $300,000,000. In 1990’s dollars.

From the article:  "The pharmaceutical company behind Tylenol privately acknowledged the likelihood of an association between its drug in pregnancy and neurodevelopmental disorders like autism in children seven years ago, company documents obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation show.  “The weight of the evidence is starting to feel heavy to me,” said Rachel Weinstein, U.S. director of epidemiology for Janssen, the pharmaceutical arm of Johnson & Johnson, in 2018. Johnson & Johnson marketed Tylenol at the time but in 2023 spun off its consumer products division into a separate company called Kenvue.

Leslie Shur, the head of the division of Johnson & Johnson that monitors the side effects of drugs already on the market, received an alert in 2012 about concerns about acetaminophen and autism from a concerned father, with one employee writing “in case this goes to press.”

Concerns about a link between Tylenol and neurological disorders may have reached the C-suite by 2014, according to another email, which references then-Johnson & Johnson CEO Alex Gorski.

The makers of Tylenol have closely tracked a drumbeat of scientific publications finding an association between taking the blockbuster drug in pregnancy and infancy and autism risk, other company documents show.

A 2018 internal presentation the company labeled “privileged and confidential” acknowledges that observational studies show a “somewhat consistent” association between prenatal exposure to Tylenol and neurodevelopmental disorders. Another presentation slide acknowledges that larger meta-analyses — reviews summarizing multiple scientific studies — found an association, but notes weaknesses of these studies like confounding variables and subjectivity in measuring autistic traits."
