With the HC being an offensive guy he could very likely bring his own OC. I would say that is the norm and not the exception in these situations. Coordinators usually come and go with regime changes.

Understood but I'm hoping this time is the exception at least for now. Just not real comfortable with a 26-51 guy coming in not knowing much about our kids and completely doing his own thing without someone who's been here a while to help him along. And him being an offensive guy makes it even more important that we get a really good DC

I was joking with my "listen to the OC comment". Based off the WV posters in this thread it would seem they think they lost to Gunter because last year's HC didn't listen to the OC and open the offense up. I ain't from WV and do not think they improved their situation with this hire.

This firm hasn't been around long...they did Calallen's search last year and did Livingston this year

He does get to be AD, he was just boys coordinator in Elgin

Well most recently a local 5A school stripped the AD title from a coach and hired someone else… before the hire was made the local news paper said 6A schools and bigger 5A schools in the state are going to this method. I was thinking a multi HS district always has.. not a one town, one HS school district. Then seeing he did not have that AD title just makes me wonder if it’s true and will we now start seeing this more often…

Winning wise it's a big step up.  I've never met a coach who would rather be coaching a middle of the road 6A team opposed to a 3A that could win state.

“Winning wise” it is a step up from Elgin to WV for a single season. It is a massive step down from Aledo.
 

Also, there are many coaches who would rather make 6A money vs 3A money.

You have not met him, talked to him, discussed a scheme, been to an Elgin game, know who he will bring with him.  How do you know so much more than anyone else?  If you know so much put yourself in a position to make a decision.  Board signups start in July.

Note: no rumors of anyone on the current staff leaving Woodville to follow the old Coach.

Not downing him, just being honest. Doesn't look like a great hire based on what I can see so far. He's 26-51 as a head coach. Has 2 rings as an assistant at Aledo but you can only give him so much credit for winning a ring a an assistant. I'd give him more credit for that if he was at least a coordinator. Did seem to show a little improvement as a HC after his couple years at Aledo but there's not enough proof for me to be sure of that. He had winning seasons 2 of 4 years at Elgin. Don't know how much of that was due to coaching or just talent coming and going at Elgin. We'll see how it goes. I'm definitely hoping for the best though

Elgin didn't have a winning season from 2015-2020...Clawson takes over 2021...they bottom out year one 0-10...next year 7-4 in 2022...area playoffs in 2024 gotta give him some credit for turning Elgin around

I noticed that. He had 2 winning seasons durring his 4 year stay. Could be a good sign or it could be him landing there at the right time. Also noticed they gave up 30 plus 7 times last year. 60 plus 4 times. We may have given up 30 plus 7 or 8 times the last 4 or 5 years. Can't remember the last time we gave up 60 and don't want to start that now. That being said I think it would probably be best to leave that DC where he found him. I've looked at some clips from Elgin's offense last year and liked some of the things I saw. I think we could have some success if we could manage to get a good DC

Curious, who did you have in mind to be the new AD/HC out of the applicant list?

If not out of the list, then who were you wanting? Realistically

Didn't really have anybody in particular in mind because I didn't know who was available. Was hoping the people in charge could skim through the list and select a legit candidate. Was made to believe Neece from Anahuac may or may not have been available. I probably would rather have Neece over Clawson but we have what we have now and I'll just hope for the best. Hopefully I'm wrong

Will be interesting to see if WV under the new leadership can win the District. Have not accomplished that very often in school history.
