So what do y’all do on election night?

I spend them in my Son-in-laws garage.   He has a big screen out there.  We (usually 3-5 guys) get in lawn chairs and drink a few cold beers and have a ball.   Cuss when the Dems do good, cheer when they do bad,  We toast when the Reps do good, and chugalug when they do bad.

So anyone else got a traditional election night?

I sit around with my family (most the kids are grown and gone) and watch the results. I may stay up til the next day like last year. Usually the results are apparent by Wednesday and I take everyone out to eat to celebrate our right to vote and our democracy. If my candidate wins, it’s usually a better night than if not. But win or lose, we go out to celebrate the fortune we have in living in a free country with a right to vote. My Mom started this tradition when Reagan won the first time, so I also do it in her honor.

That sounds like a good time. I do something similar on the back porch. My son does some kind of magic to get a TV running back there and we sit out by the fire till they call it.

That's an awesome tradition.

    • Tim Erickson from Orangefield….
    • Lucky for Orangefield there’s only 3 games max to play.    Someone said they had a pitcher or 2 throw 90’s but I don’t know that for a fact.  Rumors.   it appears that Orangefield will see some faster pitchers this round. Generally speaking I haven’t been too impressed with Orangefield opponents pitching. Only pitcher so far that was fast (92 mph) was vs Woodville in first game & Orangefield got several runs off of him.    Looking for a good series with no injuries for both teams.
    • Apologies if this is a stupid question, but why would they just not renew his contract for the 24/25 school year if he had multiple write-ups? I know teachers and paraprofessionals don't get their contract renewed if their performance is bad enough - are coaches' contract situations different?

    • It’s very difficult to fire an educator.  It’s not difficult to reassign them and put them in a situation where they’re likely to leave on their own.  I’m not sure of the legality of exposing an employee’s work records, but it seems likely it’s not allowed if nothing criminal took place.
