Southeast Texas Coaches Association selected Robert Hollyfield 2015-16 Girls Basketball Coach of the Year. Hollyfield led his Evadale Lady Rebels Team to a 31-6 record. Last season Evadale lost to LaPoyner in the Regional Semi Final 55-53 in double overtime.

Hollyfield is in his 20th season as the Head Coach in Evadale and his teams could eclipse the 500 win total next season.

Coach Michelle Trotter of Crosby High School also received the honor of Girls Basketball Coach of the Year. She led the Lady Cougars to a 31-7 record, the District 21-5A Championship, and a berth in the State Semi-Finals in the Alamodome, where they lost to eventual State Champ Canyon. She is in her fourth year as Crosby's head coach.
