Lumberton is not the best measuring stick for Football....

Not sure why this post is necessary. I am wondering why you have made two posts on this thread basically downing both these teams but yet didn't bother to post on your teams (Nederland) scrimmage thread?

Lumberton and Silsbee has always played each other in the regular season up until last year. Village Creek rivalry. They decided to continue playing by scrimmaging each other. It's not so much a "measuring stick". Just a scrimmage.

In comparison to last year's scrimmage, Silsbee definitely has improved.

Lumberton did stay very "vanilla" in their offensive and defensive schemes. Lumberton only passed 13 times out of the 30 offensive plays in comparison to Silsbee throwing it 21 times out of 30 plays. But Lumberton stayed in man coverage on defense, no zone coverage, so the Tigers took what the defense gave them and used their speedy, big athletic receivers to their advantage. It is exactly what they would have done in a game facing that defensive set.

Lumberton is physical and it showed in the trenches in the first 15 plays for both teams. Lumberton moved the ball well in the first 15 but had two turnovers to stop drives. The offensive line opened up holes for their backs to get some good running lanes early on. On defense, the Raider D-line was stopping the run game and getting pressure on Thomas in the first few plays. I would say Lumberton won the battle in the trenches in the first 15 plays.

In the second 15 plays, it was all Silsbee. Tigers made adjustments both on offense and defense and clicked like a well oiled machine. In the 15 offensive plays, Silsbee scored 3 times, covering 210 yards with Thomas going 9-10 passing for 190 yards. Silsbee had positive yardage on every play except the lone incompletion. On defense, Silsbee started matching Lumberton's physicality and shut down the run game. In the 15 plays, Lumberton only crossed the 50 yard line one time, never getting inside Silsbee's 40 yard line. Lumberton was held to just 50 yards in those 15 plays in comparison to the 100 yards they gained in the first 15 plays. Tigers definitely stepped their intensity up on defense. That may of had something to do with a few scuffles that seemed to fire up the Tigers.

It was a good scrimmage for Silsbee. Next week against Ozen will be interesting. Will be good to go against a team that can match Silsbee's speed.

you beat me to it. Lol

beat me too!  Based on last years performance, Babin knows how to lose and switch jobs.

you are correct on the Qb.  I think Lumberington is like PNG only they think their guys are super talented, the Morse kid is good, real good just not REAL D1 talent or he would have had some offers.  Krautz could be another Seay for us.

love Larry, Delbert and the 100 years experience our staff has.  I think it will show against PNG.  PNG could pull it out if our secondary doesn't step it up.

if we win you HAVE to think the PNG peeps will be restless.  Really, the Fairclothe group has not done much -- aside from the 1st team he was handed over by Burnett. What is his record putting aside the 1st year?

Baller93 has no life. I'd would be wise for him to stay in the Big Ned thread and focus on his team.

I have no Life?  How many post do you have on this site? You basically live on this site compared to me........

Silsbee has a strong team! Lowe, Barnes,  Macy, Newton, and Harris at WR are scary. Brooks seems to be a strong running back and Thomas seems to be settling in well at QB. He worked out alot during the off season. We will see how good they are vs a very strong Ozen team next week.

Lumberton played the Reed team in 7v7 and regular season game and I watched all of them. In my opinion,  this team is more of a complete team.

2012, Reed's junior season, Silsbee defeated Lumberton 41-0. Tigers led at the half, 41-0.

Dogs were called off in 2nd half.

2013, Reed's senior season, Silsbee won 49-21, with Lumberton scoring 2 TD's late in game.

BTW, copied this post from you in BC thread:

Aggie, BC has a better chance of beating silsbee this year than beating lumberton. Lumberton will be significantly better on defense. And offensively,  Lumberton will be tough to stop.

Care to recant that statement?

Because of the results of one scrimmage?  I'll stick with what I said. BC doesn't have a passing QB and burners on the outside like Silsbee. And we'll have time to address holes that could only be discovered by facing a live opponent. I heard the Raiders actually did something they haven't done in the last 2 seasons. Watch Film and try to learn from mistakes!   What a great idea!
