24-4A Baseball Final Run

I am seeing this wrong or is that clinch statement premature?

If Silsbee loses to hj and wos they are 7-5

If BC loses to OF and HF they are 7-5

If wos loses to lcm and beats Silsbee they are 7-5

If lcm beat wos and loses to OF they are 7-5

If HJ beats Silsbee they are 7-5

so actually  could there not be FIVE 7-5 teams?????

Yes, then what happens? Should have used

X-Silsbee

X-BC

E-HF

E-OF

x clinched play in game

e eliminated

First thing that probably needs to happen is we need to take those X- clinched playoff spot markers down off the board.  Those kids could get their feelings hurt if they get moved from the clinched column all the way down to the staying home column.

Then there would be a Saturday, Monday, (maybe even Tuesday) tournament to decide the four spots.  Although unlikely, that would be the first five team tie we have ever had in sports in this area. It is almost guaranteed that there be a tie for one or more of those spots and some Saturday games taking place next weekend.

That doesn't make since. If silsbee and HJ tied at 7-5, then why wouldn't it go to head to head?

Yes it would go to head to head if it's just a two team tie.

In that scenario, HJ would get playoff spot after sweeping Silsbee in district.

But, since both LC-M and WO-S are 6-4, one of those teams will be 6-5 after Tuesday. If that 6-5 team wins their final game, then you would have a 3 way tie at 7-5. If that team were to lose their final game, then likely eliminated and HJ and Silsbee would qualify.

Still too many scenarios.

if Silsbee is 7-5
and hj 7-5
and lc 7-5

then head to head is out

three team playoff for third and fourth

one of the three would be in by winning the coin flip for the bye

then the loser of game one would be out
loser game two would be fourth

Silsbee sweep of LC-M has no effect on this three way to tie?

if Silsbee is 7-5

and hj 7-5

and lc 7-5

the team with the most wins in the games between those three would get the  bye.

if tied coin flip for bye (and coin flip winner is in)

loser game one out

loser game two fourth

Well in that scenario, all three teams would finish with 2 wins apiece. Silsbee swept LC-M, LC-M swept HJ and HJ would have swept Silsbee.

To many scenarios to be putting letters in front of teams, even with two games left. This is one of the most intense district races that I have ever seen with this many teams. No team can rest easy, to many top teams playing each other in the final games. Which ever teams do make the playoffs will be battle tested. 24-4A great finish coming up, don't blink!!!

You may want to do a little research before you post next time when talking about numbers, you may be surprised.

On a side note....
I would not hesitate to throw either Anderson in any situation.

Was referring to WOS win streak, not individual pitching stats. Ive said it before, rarely does box score reflect game played in high school.

But thank you for setting me straight.

I agree, I took one of those posts to mean we had clinched a playoff spot. I was just showing there was a scenario where that wasn't true or at least I didn't think it was.

    • Starting pitching has been shaky the last few weeks due to some injuries outside of Hagen Smith.  He goes tomorrow, so y’all should be fine
    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
    • See why I don't trust my Hogs?
    • Come on dude, don’t take anything away from the kids on the field. If you want to talk uncharacteristic, we made what 3 or 4 errors in game one. Y’all had 2 EARNED runs.  Defense is normally our strong suit. Your ace didn’t strike out a single one of our kids. Like I said also, you did not out hit us in game 1. Hell you barley out hit us in game 2. We had all the uncharacteristic walks. Josh pitched a hell of a game is what made that game what it was.
