chukslegacy
Is 2014 the year for the Mustangs to bring home that State title? Great program, tons of talent, new district! Divison II ! What are your thoughts?
griff
Without anyone on the team named Hryorchuk (sp?), I don't think we have a chance. :D The region also includes LaMarque, Coldspring, Gilmer, and Tatum. WO-S definitely has a shot, but keep an eye on those teams, as well. chukslegacy

GUNHO
They will have the talent that's for sure.Have a better chance to get out of the region than in recent years.Have to wait and see about that state thing though.Going to have to play better in big games. LB76
It will really surprise me if they DON'T win it all this year.....Should be there time, I would like to here what BG has to say on this.. Mr. Buddy Garrity
chukslegacy
Griff, you are too kind! I do have another son who will be a junior next year who was the center on JV and was moved up to Varsity during playoffs. He opted out of Baseball to focus this offseason on football. badndn
2014 brings very, very, very high expectations for the Stangs. A lot of great talent on this team. WOS always has great talent, but I think this group probably has more per capita than any in recent memory. griff
tennisbc
How many returning starters on offense and defense?
One4All
I honestly believe that it doesn't matter how many starter coming back Offense/ defense.....because this years team went just as far as last year's team..only to have a team of one year Variety starters.. chukslegacy
chukslegacy
Great point one4all. It doesn't seem to matter much about starters. Coaches seem to be able to motivate and prepare the kids to step up and fill. I think a lot of people(Dave Campbell and media) underestimated this past years team with very few staters returning. This all just reflects the type of program Coach T has in place marshman
chukslegacy
Griff, I give you an A for spelling, if you want an A+ you need to find a place to put another H in there. Just sayin! Lol
griff
VNUPE, I was looking at a prospective list of district alignments that came out before the official UIL release this month. That list had WO-S in the same region with all the other teams I listed. Sorry for that. On paper, LaMarque is the biggest concern from our region. Even with that said, I never want to be overconfident because as the season progresses so many things can change - injuries, flunking grades, game killing turnovers, opponents becoming better than expected, etc. There is always a couple of teams that nobody expected to be strong who develop into good teams and then you have to face them come playoff time. I refute the "we're a shoe in to win state" mindset. Always respect your opponent, factor in the unexpected, and remember these are 15, 16, and 17 year old kids. Chuck, where did I miss the "H"? 77, marshman and VNUPE

AggiesAreWe
Mark it down, WO-S WILL be the Region III DII Champs. I believe they make the state title game and depending on opponent, will determine if I think they win it all. SteelerCzy

biaplayer
The Stangs have my vote of confidence. Dont see them losing a district game, very good chance to make a deep playoff run barring no key injuries, poor grades. Talent is always there along with great coaching year in year out. It has always amazed me that with on average 28 kids on sidelines that they are as tough as they are.
