NHSBulldogFan got a reaction from Rez Ipsa in Since 1975, PNG Has Made 5 Trips to the State Championship, Won 2 -- Nederland Has 0 Trips and Consequently 0 State Titles!
Two of those years (1999, and 2000) we played the best team in the state and still to this day two of the best defenses I've seen in Texas City (1999) and Bay City 2000 both those teams were big physical fast and well coached...the 2001 team was not near as talented but played with a ton of heart and once again ran into a team that was more physical than us (Smithson Valley) looking back on it now our best shot at state was really the 1998 team but we fell apart in the 2nd half vs. Bay City that year...fact is Larry Neumann changed the mentality of Nederland when he came in 1993 that mentality has now reverted back to the Pre-Neumann era and I don't see things getting better anytime soon with the current system in place

There is no comparison between PN-G and Nederland when it comes to strength and conditioning...one of these is not like the other😄

I've got alot of thoughts on this
There's not a drastic difference at QB, RB, or WR between the two schools IMO here's where the difference is...
PN-Gs offensive line this past year was the biggest I have ever seen at PN-G they are big and they can MOVE there is no comparison when you compare the offensive line of PN-G to Nederland PN-Gs offensive line can move mountains Nederland's offensive line could get blown over by a small win
PN-G-both offensive and defensive coordinators as well as the offensive line coach won state BEFORE arriving at PN-G
Nederland-not a single coach had ever won state
PN-G is making the run that it is because of coaching the greater emphasis on defense and technique and the size of the offensive line all of those things Nederland has none of.
I also don't think it's a facility issue nor is it a community support issue
I'll close with this when Brandon Faircloth left PN-G the schoolboard made a decision we're going to go out and get the best coaches we can and it has paid off in spades...Nederland schoolboard doesn't care about being the best instead the priority is on what your last name is and if you're a good ol' boy or not...it's actually reached the point of complacency and contentment with 4 win seasons or less which after Larry Neumann had coached us I thought we would never get back to but here we are

Alright, I think that's enough. Rule 15 of the SETXSports rules prohibits the posting of unsubstantiated rumors. The original subject of this thread is completely unsubstantiated and, based on my own research, verifiably false. The speculation about the future of Nederland's runningback is also unsubstantiated. This thread will be locked.
I look forward to what Jeff Joseph will do with the Port Neches-Groves Indians in 2024 and beyond.

Did anyone else see SOC defenders all wear purple gloves so they can blend in with our jerseys so they could get away with holding. Especially #2 with the purple sleeves. They had light blue gloves last week against Emerson. But we're being called cheaters and have an asterisk because the refs gave us the title

Indeed. And the athletes won by 2, due to a failed PAT and two red zone turnovers. Not because they were more athletic.

Yes, and posting in SETX is sufficient "action to be taken". He will learn his lesson now.

I don't see it that way I've seen SOC several times this year...its going to be the strength of the PN-G offensive line vs the speed of SOC...SOC isn't very big on the defensive line they make up for that with speed...on the defensive side this is easily the biggest team PN-G has played this year SOC offensive line averages above 280 this year
