  1. Yup......everyone has a line drawn in the sand of what they believe. If taking down a flag in a few cities make some people feel better, then I guess that is great. This will fade away very quickly.......or may backfire and more private memorials will be built......then people will see 13 of them as they enter your city.
  2. Because Republicans opinions are divided. They have several choices.......not a bad thing for us.......
  3. I explained about how the North was over taxing the South. I personally don't believe the war was about Slavery. It goes back to 3% of the population was the only ones who cared or could afford slaves. So, my view is they stood up for States Rights. So did they turn their back or did they fight for something that is very popular today.......States Rights.....although the Supreme Courts ruling on Gay Marriage was a slap in the face to States Rights..... and for the record PamFam, I like debating with you and I think Slavery and treating anyone with disrespect is a horrible thing.
  4. A person commits treason when they take up arms against their own state, not when they take up arms to defend their State from the Federal Government. Just as a citizen has a right to renounce their citizenship, so does a state have a right to renounce their ties to the union. After a state secedes the citizens of that state are no longer citizens of the United States. Because they are not US citizens they cannot be traitors. By renouncing their ties to the United States, they had effectively renounced their US citizenship.
  5. I have to jump in...... What Evadale is to me is a school with a long loyal history that will not be taken from them easily. One small enough it can teach character to each student...... Story: My Son was on the Basketball team and at one of their games, because of the score, they let their weakest player play almost the last half of the game. This kid had never scored the entire year. He was fouled and had 2 free throws.....He made one......the entire team ran and picked him up and celebrated......The Evadale side of the stands all stood up and cheered. After the game, my Son looked at me and asked if I thought the celebration was cool. I agreed and he said that would have never happened at his old School........and he was probably right. They also say prayers.....
  6. That is not going to happen..... They made a stand. Letting my Son attend that school was one of the best choices I have made!
  7. Exactly, that was my point. The flag is not the problem.....
  8. That was in 1925
  9. thank you.... The problem is no matter what point I bring up or link I post......if it does not say Slavery was the main cause of the Civil War, it won't be correct.
  10. Funny how everyone has a different version of History.....
  11. I have never said Slavery was not one of the reasons of the Civil War. It became an issue a couple years into it. The way the North was taxing the South played a huge roll in the war. Take that along with only 3% of the white population owning slaves.....think about it....Blacks now are 13% of the population and are considered a minority.....What would 3% be back then? Plus they didn't have Facebook.....How could 3% make that much noise??
  12. Maybe you should start a petition to re-write history books.
  13. I agree, many people think that......but it's not exactly true The Congress at that time favored the industrialized northern states to the point of demanding that the South sell is cotton and other raw materials only to the factories in the north, rather than to other countries. The Congress also taxed the finished materials that the northern industries produced heavily, making finished products that the South wanted, unaffordable. If the NorthernStates and their representatives in Congress had only listened to the problems of the South, and stopped these practices that were almost like the taxation without representation of Great Britain, then the Southern states would not have seceded and the war would not have occurred.
  14. Last year my Son ASKED to go to Evadale, as it is limited open enrollment. I was a little hesitant at first because I did not know much about the school. Honestly, the only thing that crossed my mind was the smell...... My son absolutely loved it. A small school has an advantage of not letting things slip through the cracks. Everyone knows everyone and they are treated with respect. The entire school is well disciplined and they make sure parents are notified immediately if there is an issue. I am very excited for him to be entering 9th grade there this year. I am entertaining moving to the big city of Evadale if I can find something I like.
  15. That can be said for both sides....... I have not seen much sympathy from those wanting the flag removed....
  16. So, the founders of our country were not Rebels?
  17. We agree on this one......lol
  18. With Obamacare, Everyone has insurance right? oh wait.....
  19. He has, but so has many. I usually don't have a problem with changing a stance if you can explain it and can convince me it is not for political gain. I think he knows he would hurt the Republican party if he did that, so I'm sure he wouldn't.
  20. Apparently to you nothing.......
  21. You know, when I hear the left making comments that Trump is helping them, it tells me they are scared. My opinion, Trump has too many Skeletons in his closet to have a real chance. What he will do however, on both sides, is force them to debate and answer EXTREMELY difficult questions. He is not dancing around subjects, which means you have to be either for or against whatever he is running on......... That is going to make it very interesting for both sides........ I'm glad he is running and think he will have a huge impact on the election and what is talked about.
  22. It amazes me that it is 2015 and everyone continues to make reference to the Confederate Battle Flag being hung from the Capital Building. That flag was removed from the Capital building in 2000 (15 YEARS ago)......it was moved to a WAR MEMORIAL on the same property. I imagine it was a slap in the face to those who's ancestors fought for States Rights.....
  23. Another refreshing comment...... He liked all black candidates that supported his party. That goes to support Race is not an issue. I have said from the beginning I disagree with almost all of Obama's policies......I never voted for him and could never get behind his ideas..... However, I would purchase a $2000 ticket to hang out with him and drink a beer. I bet personally he is a cool dude......and I bet he has some interesting stories.....
  24. If we are going to blame, let's blame the Republican party for loosing their backbone and not calling him out on it. Let's also blame the right for not aggressively going after the media for their slanted agenda. We need more people like Trump who is not afraid to speak his mind.
