I don't think HJ will be overlooking OF this week.  Dubois is too good of a coach for that and I'm sure he has been instilling in his players that starting this week the games really count.  What they've done up to this point in the season is nice but it does not mean anything if they overlook the Bobcats and get beat.  He will keep his players level headed knowing that if they come into this game thinking all they have to do is show up to get the win then it's likely they can lose.  Dubois we have them ready to go come Friday.

As for my Bobcats, they have to try to do what they do best.  Move the ball on offense and try to keep the HJ offense off the field.  They will have to play an almost perfect game this week.  They can not turn the ball over and can not have stupid penalties.  If they play like they did against Newton they can upset the Hawks this week.  Both of these programs are heading in the right direction and it's great for both communities.  I've been pulling of the Hawks all season and after Friday I will be again.  Hoping for a clean injury free game.

Cat22 reacted to OldTimer in How do you fix Lamar?
I do not see the situation at Lamar getting any better any time in the near future.

This is the problem with Lamar - Lamar does not have a lot of students that buy into the school the way other schools do.  When you go to Texas, Texas A&M, Sam Houston State, Stephen F Austin and most other schools you move to or near the campus and participate in the area activities many or most of which directly relate to the school - like the athletic programs.  A lot - and I think most - of the students at Lamar commute from their hometowns to attend - my daughter graduated from Lamar in December of 2013 and lived in Liberty the whole time she attended Lamar - I know many other students that did the same thing from many of the surrounding area towns.  Therefore, they do not become "sold" or "invested" in the school like students at Texas and A&M (and others) do.  I went to the college several times and was surprised  at the number of student vehicles that either did not have a Lamar sticker or had stickers from Texas, Texas A&M and other colleges on their vehicles.  Go to Austin or College Station and look a vehicles on campus and you will see virtually every vehicle will have a sticker for Texas or A&M - this is a loyalty question - loyalty leads to attendance at school functions that includes athletic events.

I went to SFA and we were called a suitcase college as a ton of students left every weekend to go home or to other colleges rather than stay in Nacogdoches, Texas.  Lamar's problem I believe is even deeper as the students never really buy into the school they are there because - in a lot of cases - they have limited other options due to (1) having to work, (2) parents cannot afford to pay rent for them to attend college away from home or (3) Married with children and the close major college is the best answer.

Your misunderstanding the whole concept here. I know Hj is improved and do support the kids and the team. I always have. My comment are towards the few fans that need to realize that respect will come to them in time and not by demanding it on a message board with a basis of 1 successful season since 1998. I do hope HJ makes another good run this year as it will reflect well on our district. Im also pretty sure they are a great team with the recent success they have had but still have a ways to go. If another poster says 9 good things about your team but 1 bad, yall attack and call names and tell them they have no idea what they are talking about. Instead of looking at the good comments made, they go on a tirade and tell us all we have no idea what we are talking about. The difference is we've been here before many many times so we take the negative comments and ignore them. Just keep calm and win a few more games.

    Live quarters

1st Q: Lumberton went three and out on first offensive series. Punt. HJ started from their own 35. Hawks went 15 plays, eating up over 8 minutes of clock, scoring on 3 yard TD run. XP no good. Lumberton started 2nd series with just 2:12 left, picked up 2 first downs but then ran out of time in quarter. Score: HJ 6, Lumberton 0.

2nd Q: Lumberton on offense first, picked up 2 first downs but then forced to punt. BC drove the ball down to Lumberton 15 before settling for 32 yard FG. 3-0 BC. Lumberton got a first down but then was intercepted. BC scored 4 plays later on 38 yard pass. XP good, 10-0 BC. Lumberton went for it on 4th down, failed. BC took over on Lumberton 44 yard line. 7 plays, 2 yard TD run. XP good, 17-0 BC. Quarter ended with Lumberton moving ball pass midfield. Score: BC 17, Lumberton 0.

3rd Q: HJ with ball first, picked up 2 first downs, then got a 40 yard TD run by Logan Thompson. XP good. 7-0 HJ. On 3rd play from  scrimmage, BC threw a pass out in the flat that receiver missed, ball was not blown dead, HJ picked it up and ran back for TD. BC coaches and players thought it was an incomplete pass, HJ played it like a lateral. Very close, could have been forward pass but give credit to HJ for playing until whistle. XP Good, 14-0 HJ. BC picked up a couple of first downs but then was intercepted by Dillon Mayes of HJ. Hawks moved the ball down to BC 5, then let clock run out to end quarter. Score: HJ 14, BC 0

Pleasantly surprised with the Bobcats tonight. Lost a lot of seniors from last year but looked good this early in the season. Took their opening possession on offense and drove right down the field and scored. Defense was all over the field! Even being a scrimmage it's still hard to keep your opponent out of the end zone! Good first step for the Bobcats!

One thing I noticed about Vidor is they do not have much size. They are always bigger than Orangefield, not tonight!

Got a good report today. Dr. said he is stable and the antibiotics are working. May be able to bring him home as early as Friday.... He actually got up and walked down the hallway this morning with his dear ol dad... Thank you all for the well wishes, he is not out of the woods yet but two days of good reports after 5 days of bad news is awesome...

Not sure about LaMarque.  They have dropped off some over the past few years and I might be wrong but I didn't think they had a lot returning this year.  I really don't see anyone beating WOS in Region 3.

Yes sir! It hasnt hit yet but just wait when all the elementry kids get to hs. I would be willing to bet Orangefield will have a thousand plus kids in less than 15 years. Alot of people moving in the district with young kids. Im one of them. It seems realestate wise Orangefield is the place to build. Lots of land and at a premium.
