Usually live shrimp is good no matter what else is happening if you can get them but certainly not a necessity. I catch a lot of fish every year and rarely use any live shrimp unless I just get lucky and catch a few in a cast net while going for shad. What are you fishing for though?

But I made it today. I only fished about 2.5 hours and had to leave. We had 5 in the boat by then but Trece and his buddy are still out there. We had four specks (20, 18, 18, 15.5) and one redfish (27.5). Trece had two specks and the red and I got two specks.
Can you duck hunt on Lake Conroe??
I thought that it was legal but you have to comply with all other laws like your shot can't cross a property line without prior written consent, etc.

I know the correct way to pronounce Atchafalaya, that's about it.

I think that people probably want to know: 1. Acres? 2. Number of members? 3. Family lease? 4. Past history? 5. Lease rules such as deer per membership? 6. Full access for the year or just during hunting season? 7. Family plot being leased out or a lease like from a lumber company? 8. Anyone else have access to the property? 9. Bottoms, creeks, trees?

TVC got one?
Not yet. I used to have a Galil machine gun that I carried for a few years and that was fun but alas, it is gone also.
What all is needed to have a an automatic gun? Isn't their some extra hooplah you have to do in order to legally own one? Just curious. I've wanted to get one for awhile.
Machine guns are lawful to own. The deal is that you have to pay for a federal tax stamp. The stamp is only $200 and a one time deal. You apply for it and clear a background check and if everything checks out okay, you get the stamp.... if you can get a police chief in your city or the sheriff in your county to sign off on it. If not, you can incorporate and get the stamp by forming a corporation and going around the signature requirement. Forming a corporation though might run a person $2,000 or so. I haven't checked into it lately. Once you get the stamp, you can go buy a machine gun from another person that lawfully has one with a stamp. The problem there is that privately owned machine guns had to be manufactured before May 1986 (I think). After that, all machine guns have to go to law enforcement or the military. With the 1986 cut off date, there is a finite number of machine guns for sale. That means big bucks. It is like any other rare item like a rare coin. So you might get lucky and pass the background check and pay the $200 stamp and go out and buy that machine gun. The problem is that the machine gun will likely go for $3,000 or more simply because they haven't been made for public ownership in almost 20 years. So if you have to incorporate then the entire cost might be $5,000 or more. It is not hard therefore to get a machine gun and there is nothing illegal about it. Most people simply don't want to spend the money that it will cost. At $3,000 for a best case scenario and $5,000 or more for the worst case scenario, it just isn't that appealing. By the way, you can also have a short barrel rifle or shotgun (lawful sawed off shotgun or short barrel rifle like an AR-15 with an 11 inch barrel) or silencer by the same means. Those items are still being manufactured though so it isn't nearly so expensive as the $3,000 machine gun. All you have to do is get the stamp at $200 (plus more if needed to incorporate). A short barrel for an AR-15 might run about $200 so if you can get a law enforcement signature, for a total cost of $400 you can have a shorty AR-15 and a dreaded "assault rifle". -
Pretty Much, we were hunting the Reservoirs down 563, and a bunch of ducks were going down in that area. We were trying to figure out where it was and the best explination was Mac. Then my friend said he didn't think you could hunt it because something to do with lake Charlotte but i dont think he realized that it was on completely different sides of the "split" in the river. And i also had a question about navigable waterway but you cleared that up, so thanks!
This article from the Texas Parks and Wildlife website explains some of the navigable waterway rules/laws in Texas. It is really about the stream bottoms (recreational vehicle use on dry stream beds) but talks about the laws on navigable waterways under Texas law. The second paragraph down talks about public access. One of the main keys is that the water has to be accessed from a public location like a bayou, river, etc. If you have to cross private land to get to it, then it is not public. From the maps, Mac Lake has direct access to the bayou and then Trinity Bay. The federal law also deals with navigable waterways but theirs has to do with any waterway that is effected by the tide. I think the bayou leading up to Mac Lake from Trinity Bay is in the tidal basin and is also under federal laws for navigable waterways. [Hidden Content] I would still make a call to Parks and Wildlife and they are glad to help with the laws.

I've never been there but it looks like a navigable waterway. Looking at it on the map, it is likely a navigable waterway. If so, you can likely hunt there. If it a question like pops up from time to time that someone owns the bank and doesn't want people hunting in "their lake"? I big case came up in Texas a few years back in the Big Hill Bayou and Keith Lake area. A long time hunting club claimed sole use of a lot of the water as they owned the bank and all land surrounding a lot of the waterways. The ruling then is should be the same as now and that is that the water is open to the public. The land may not be but a person cannot stop access to a navigable waterway and it is a crime to do so. I haven't duck hunted in a long time but if it is still legal to hunt from a boat not under power, then you should be able to legally hunt Mac Lake. For clarification I would call a game warden with the TPWD and get a final judgment on it. I made such a call last year over a piece of water that had a sign saying no entry allowed. I called TPWD from my cell phone while in the boat and the warden said that the sign was meaningless. The land was restricted but not the water. Is that what you had in mind or something else?
There is one in PA on highway 69. I called about it a while back and think it is $250 for the whole year for your family.
I was on that one for a couple of years. It was a great place to fish but I haven't been back in about 4 years. I used it for a flyfishing location since I could walk around the bank without the need for a boat. I almost always brought in fish to eat for dinner.

SETX POSTERS FISHING TOURNAMENT

If UBL has been dead for several years and the "raid" was a staged event for reelection purposes, why not spring it around August 2012 right before the election and not almost two years out. This raid is a done deal and yesterday's news as far as the polls. The latest Gallup shows (at the moment) Obama over an unknown Republican 43%-40%. If all this was done for a bump in the election it needed to be done a lot later in the process. Doing this for poll purposes makes no sense. Having the SEALS go in instead of just sending in a rocket makes it look like a poll to claim that we can confirm his demise but hiding the body for 10 years and springing the news now doesn't make any sense.

Yep. If I just want to go fishing and bet $25, I can get one of my friends and bet on who catches the most bass in Taylor's Bayou or the most specks on the dock across the street from where I work. It will save a lot of time and money for the same results.
