Polls are fine, but I think you have to wait until the 4th or 5th game of district to really get a feel of where these teams are in relation to a playoff run......imo.
Obviously. If polls were always correct we wouldn't need to play the games. They sure make for interesting conversation though and that is all they are good for. For that, they are excellent.

Proof! President Obama Will Win 2012

I didn't know about their strategy but I figured it out. All along I believed that Obama and the Dems idea with health care was to get everyone forced to be on it and once we are all on it, we can't go back. The Cloward-Piven strategy is based roughly on the same thing. Get everyone stuck on the government dime and then no one can get off of it. Of course it will eventually collapse when no one wants to be the provider when everyone is treated the same. It takes the free enterprise system out of it. -
There you go. In one post you say they could have done it and in the next, you explain why they couldn't do it.
I see that you missed it so I will try again. The Democrats led by Obama would love to tax everyone at a higher rate and restrict gun ownership. The Republicans and a few conservative leaning Democrats stand in the way. In truth, a couple of western state Democrats stand between gun control and the right to bear arms. The voting records stand for themselves. It would be easy to ignore their intent under the premise that they will lose but that is to be ready for defeat when it is a couple of votes from disaster. -

How about this one TB, the Democrats had a super majority for two years. There is nothing that the Republicans could do to stop anything that the Democrats wanted to do. What do we have to show for it? They could have pushed tax increases, tax cuts or whatever else they wanted. They did not even want to submit a budget so the public would not see the tiger in its true stripes.
Could have, but didn't. so why do Republicans still cry and fret over guns, taxes etc? Glen Beck has you guys scared of your own shadow.
I don't watch Glen Beck so you will have to tell me what he is saying. Way before Glen Beck came along, Obama and others of his ilk have wanted to ban firearms and in particular handguns. They have also wanted to raise taxes. The only thing standing in the way is almost every Republican and a few conservative leaning Democrats. Let's not forget Obama saying that if he lived out in the country he could understand owning a gun but needed "common sense" for city dwellers. Obama backed Chicago and their gun ban that flew in the face of the Second Amendment. Let's not forget that only 12 Democrat senators voted for the Bush tax cuts in 2001 and 4 Democrats voted for the 2003 tax cuts. The idea that the Dems are pro tax cuts and pro Second Amendment is laughable. They are brought kicking and screaming but then want to claim support once it passes. The votes don't back up that claimed support. -

South Texas Enjoys Major Boom From Oil Fracking. No solid estimate of likely production has been made, but the American Petroleum Institute said the field should yield billions of barrels of oil. The project already supports 12,600 fulltime jobs, and by 2020 could account for $11.6 billion and nearly 68,000 jobs in a 24-county area, according to study in February by the University of Texas' Center for Community and Business Research. Thing are getting better, To bad, no gloom and doom
It's always good when someone is hiring but there has always been someone hiring, even in the worst of times. The problem is losing more jobs than those starting. If we create 20,000 jobs this week but lose 50,000 then we are minus 30,000 jobs for the week. According to government figures, last week alone saw 428,000 new jobless claims and up since the week before which had 417,000 new claims. So in the last two week almost one million people have filed new claims for unemployment. You post information that shows (even if correct) that south Texas is going to create up to 68,000 job BY 2020. The last time I looked, that is 8+ years from now. I am not sure how that is going to help Obama's election chances in 13 months. -

DEER IN SOUTHEAST TEXAS 13 INCH OR GREATER SPREAD
rip, don't get him started! ;D I'll just add that big bucks in Texas are nothing new...folks been killing them here long before the 13" rule! OK, I'm done!
Too late. Yes, I have seen some huge bucks killed in east Texas every year. With the habitat you would think that it would lead the state in trophies but killing a good deer on one lease is not indicative of the area in general. Management is the key but the truth is that a majority in this area are more worried about pulling the trigger than quality. ;D -
DEER IN SOUTHEAST TEXAS 13 INCH OR GREATER SPREAD
tvc184 replied to GET a HIT #24's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
It works, period. It is not perfect and a good management plan would be better but most of these leases could have gotten a management plan years ago but would rather go by the east Texas, if it's brown, it's down rule. Soon people in east Texas will start taking some nice (not necessarily trophy) deer with some trophies scattered in with them. It beats taking spikes and basket 4 or 6 pointers. -
went out tonight, and it wasn't that great. we probably caught close to 100 specks, but only 4 keepers, although one was a really nice 23 1/2 incher.
Although I haven't been lately, a couple of guys at work have fished around the channel at night and none have caught a keeper. Plenty of fish but nothing of legal size.

More HuffPo nonsense. Most firefighting is local or volunteer and does not come from the state. The new Texas cuts in the budget have only been in effect for one week as the new budget goes into effect. Any prior lack of equipment as mentioned in the article have nothing to do with this year's budget cuts. I know that our city budget goes into effect October 1st and we will order new vehicles but they will not be delivered until some time next year like in January. Even if our budget is cut, it will not show up for several months because that is the way capital purchases are made. So this year's budget had nothing to do with equipment at the scene or resources. The local fire chief that is complaining about the lack of a budget needs to complain to his city council or county commissioner's court. The political spin doesn't hold up very well to the facts. -

My completely uneducated (well not completely) opinion is that as long as the high pressure area that had had us in a gorilla grip for months stays in place, we won't see much of anything. Even Lee wanted to come toward Texas and got completely turned away. I have seen from some local to national weather people claiming that the dominating high over Texas was due to move as soon as two weeks ago. It just hasn't happened. The EURO had a low south of Sabine Pass a few days ago and Lee heading maybe into central or south Texas. It didn't happen and we are still holding on to the drought.
The last time that the Republicans had control of Congress and the presidency was in 2006. When the Republicans lost control of Congress in December 2006, the unemployment was 4.4% and was still at 4.6% when the Democrats won the House. That was after the Clinton recession that Bush took over and almost immediately into 9-11. Within 18 months of 9-11 and the unemployment topped out at 6.2% and then started falling and continued to fall until the Republicans lost control of Congress. Just to make sure that you didn't miss it, the Republican controlled congress has not passed any laws since 2006. -
