  1. Man, wish I could have gone. Oh well... Well, moving on. Let the Lumberton crowd start tearing this big statement by the Pirates down. You know, since we are just "all talk" and all that... ;D
  2. Alright! Gives me a good breath of fresh air for next year. Nice to hear this.
  3. How is WO-S with their speed this year? IMO, that is one thing Vidor always has problems with. For example: The same plays in district that we run for touchdowns against teams like Lumberton or PN-G, teams like Central and Ozen can usually run us down from behind. How is y'all's speed this year and how did that factor into this scrimmage?
  4. I wish him a quick recovery. Hopefully that will be the worst extent of injuries tonight for the 'Stangs.
  5. Well, we know no one "wins or loses" a scrimmage, but three touchdowns against WO-S in a first half? That is pretty darn good and I'll take that any day of the week. Especially since we need tough competition early on. So, "win or lose" , I like our chances this year, since this is the team everyone says we should play in pre-district. Of course now we'll probably hear that it was all third string on the field, or that only injured kids were playing ;D (not from WO-S fans but probably from some fans of other teams in our district) but we're used to it. :D Keep me updated guys. Had to work a little too late to make this one tonight.
  6. I remember a few years back when Orangefield played PNG for the first time I believe and should have beat them. It was a great game and we lost in the last minutes of the game. My point is we scrimmaged Vidor last year at their place. They returned the favor and played at our place. It was a good learning experience for both teams. Buy the way you had two misspelled words. I had none. ;D ;D It is more of the "Vidor plays a weak schedule" rigamarole, bleed orange. We know, we know, we know. I just find it funny that a PN-G fan is pointing this out. We scrimmaged the same teams last year, didn't we? Yes, I believe so. We played the same pre-district schedule didn't we? Yes. Now, did we beat PN-G? I'll let some of the PN-G proud bring their excuses, er, I mean respond to that. Believe me bleed orange, they pose these kind of questions to just try to touch on items of which whole threads are already dedicated. They don't respect Vidor. They probably don't respect tOrangefield that much either. Maybe I'm wrong, but I doubt it. Good luck on the season. I'll be keeping an eye on you guys and that new coach.
  7. Man how did you get so tuff sitting behind that computer LOL! Good one!
  8. Aug. 21 Port Arthur, 7:00 p.m. (Scrimage) Who gives a crap? It's a scrimmage for God's sake! Why is this even on here? Aug. 28 Barbers Hill, 7:30 p.m. Win Sept. 4 Crosby, 7:30 p.m. Loss Sept. 11 Texas City, 7:30 p.m. Loss Sept. 18 OPEN Sept. 25 Little Cypress-Mauriceville*, 7;30 p.m. Win Oct. 2 Nederland*, 7:30 p.m. Loss Oct. 9 @ Livingston*, 7:30 p.m. Loss Oct. 16 Vidor*, 7:30 p.m. Loss (Although this game will be at the Reservation with purple and white striped shirts on the field, so you may have been right about that one ... C'mon laugh, it's a joke! ) Oct. 23 @ Lumberton*, 7:30 p.m. Win (I'll even pull for the Indians in this one.) Oct. 30 Beaumont Ozen*, 7:30 p.m. Win Nov. 6 @ Beaumont Central*, 7:30 p.m. Loss 4-6. Unless that new coach is really the next Messiah or something.
  9. Man! We already got Lumberton scared into talking hyped-up trash! :D This is great!
  10. In the "spirit" : of Luv Ya Blue, I gotta say: Go Hamshire Fannett.
  11. I'll say PN-G and LC-M. It will be interesting to see how they both do this year with new coaches.
  12. Last time I watched, bad calls were a part of the NFL too ... and they have instant replay! LOL!
  13. If I remember correctly, this will be the third or fourth year we've scrimmaged the Mustangs. Anybody know how many exactly? I don't always make the scrimmages but try to read about them later...
  14. Last I knew, the coach don't take any snaps. I believe they still have the same smash-mouth defense playing style that they have always had. Correct me if I'm wrong someone, but didn't they just promote a new HC from within? Something tells me we'll be seeing more of the same that we have the past few years ... that should be enough to keep the Lions and everyone else on their toes.
  15. I'll agree with that. The change from Moody's way of doing things is bound to lead to a positive change for the Bears.
  16. The Jags are a solid team year in and year out that I just find it hard to pick against. Since JC left, Memorial doesn't seem to have that much to be happy about. So... Central-21 Memorial-7
  17. Exactly. You hit the nail on the head, Spoon.
  18. I talked with a referee crew once at a Vidor game about two or three years ago. I was told that they would love to be able to have one more crew member to sit in the press box to catch things that they miss on the field. But so far, the UIL won't go for that for some reason. Cost I suppose. But with as many bad calls that can go either way in high school football every Friday night, I would think that school districts would welcome paying a few extra hundred bucks, or so, to get a properly called game.
  19. I'm just looking for a good game. I was ready for football to start, oh, about a week ago. ;D
  20. Chill out 2010. Obviously you are full of zeal and gutso and are ready for the season. Good. Keep up that intensity. I don't know how often you frequent these boards, but I'm about one of the biggest Vidor supporters that there is on here, and I defend our players to the letter. Feel free to look up any of my past posts. But if I see a dead horse, well, I'm gonna call it a dead horse. Plain and simple. Ever since the days of Jeff having us play Gulf Shores I've hated his pre-district mentality. And don't tell me that playing Gulf Shores all those years prepared us for teams like Nederland and Central. That will get you laughed right off this board. Why do we play these schools twice as small as us for pre-district? Is Jeff afraid of getting injuries before district? Hate to break this to you, but you can suffer an injury in a scrub scrimmage. We could play Hardin and the QB could get hit just right to end his season. Anything can happen. So, it has to be for some other reason than that. Think what you want, but, in a perfect world, we wouldn't play pre-district games lower than 4A teams. Period.
  21. I know this is just a long shot as long as Mathews is coach, but I would like to see some tougher competiton close to home. That way it wouldn't hurt gas budgets for away games. I hate to think of the drive to get to the St. Thomas game on a Friday. (My poor wallet ... Have I mentioned I'm poor? LOL!) Anyway, I'd like to see us play: West Brook Memorial -- these two would make for good pre-district rivalries each year as they are both right down the road from the swamp. We could never get WO-S for a third team as they always seem to be booked up. Maybe somone like Jasper? They have their down years like everyone else but usually are pretty tough most years. We used to play them when they were in 4A and this would bring back one of those old match-ups. But as long as Jeff calls the shots I'm afraid we'll have to deal with this topic every year.
  22. Dorr was hired by Nederland CARE to oppose the bond in a word-of-mouth, mail-out campaign.
  23. Yep. dawgnut is right. If someone wanted to go through it all, legal could ask SETXsports for smitty's IP address. Or any of our IP addresses for that matter if they thought we were libeling someone for instance. Just because you post anonymously, does not mean you are totally anonymous. [Hidden Content] Aw, Smitty. Tsk, tsk, tsk. Did you not read the link? Since you poted what you did, I guess you didn't even bother to skim the article. And you are the informed one? :D I was agreeing that what dawgnut said IS correct -- if someone wants to find out who you are, who I am, etc... they can. But of course you didn't read the link and just spouted off without anything to back up what you say. You never did get back to me on the rise of prices due to inflation several pages ago. I take then that you agree a bond will cost more for the taxpayers when the economy picks back up. And yet you still think they should wait... Amazing.
