1.
I only see what is there.
You only beat us by two points, which occured because our center made a bad snap over the punter's head, which we did to ourselves. I only see what is there too.  ;) You were only good enough to match up with us evenly. Even with our mistakes, we battled back most of the time. I'm just saying we should have played harder at the first of the game. Quit getting your tighty-whities in a knot, man. You squeaked out the win. Chill out. By the way you are jumping on me for not giving your team props, you make it sound like y'all lost the game.  :D
2.
So, in essence, the Pirates beat themselves? No mention at all of the Dogs playing a pretty good game with no turnovers?
Wow. You only see what you want to see, don't you? I'm not saying the Bulldogs didn't play good. I'm commenting on our poor defensive play. I didn't know I had to say how well you played in order to post.  ::) Some people. Sheesh...
3.
I was suprised that when Vidor won the coin toss they did not take the ball.  I thought with Vidors offense they would want to send a message from the beginning.  Instead Nederland took the ball and controlled the clock the whole 1st quarter.
ME TOO!!!
4.

Pass of the night had to be Neumann's headset. Nice 30 yarder on a rope after the unsportsmanlike penalty. Great win Dogs!!!!
We were wondering what he was going to toss on the next play, if ref would have called that fumble a forward pass.
Which would have been the correct call, according to the replay on that glorious scoreboard of yours. I got to see a forward pass twice.  8)
5. Well, I decided to apply badndn's 12-hour rule for posting after last night.  ;D I haven't read through every post, so I don't know who has been classless in posting or not. Nor do I really care. The reason we lost is simple: We came out soft. The defense played soft the entire first drive, kind of like someone said "Let's defer until the second half and give them the ball so we can see what they'll do on offense." NO! That is what we supposedly watch film for! We battled back, yes, but we never should of had to. We should have came out early and punched them in the mouth. We didn't. The defense never looked good until the third quarter. Was there some questionable calls? Yes. Even the glorious scoreboard the announcer kept mentioning all night clearly showed that Dozhier's hand was going forward and that was not a fumble. You would have to have zero knowledge about the game to think that was a fumble. But still, Nederland got the ball. But I can't blame the loss on that. Bad calls happen in games. I'm sure that Nederland would like to complain about the bad call of uneccesary roughness in the fourth. That kid couldn't stop and was already too close when the whistle was blown. But bad calls are, unfortunately, part of the game. You have to be able to overcome them. Plain and simple, if we hadn't played so darn soft at the beginning of the game and had not let them score with ease on that first drive, we win the game. But, just like the PN-G game, we waited too long to pull the trigger. I hope that this is classy enough. I don't see anything in here that could be considered classless, especially after the rigamarole that happened after the PN-G game. Boys, you have to wake up. You play like this against Livingston next week, who just happened to beat Central by the way, and we'll be sitting at home again after district. You better get fired up early. Pull the trigger!!
6. Hmmm ... could this be an upset special brewing in the works?  ??? Naw, I doubt it.  ;D But stranger things have happened on Friday nights across this great state. I can't really say much about our game with Ozen because the weather on the night of our game played to our favor. They didn't really run their offense like they would have in good weather I don't believe ... basically their passing game to their speedy receivers was shut down by the rain. PN-G is the full package. Run, pass, fly like Superman ... they seem to do what they want at will. So I'll pick the Indians in this one. But, it will be interesting to see how they look on defense with their corners going up against quicker receivers than they have faced so far in district. But I still think they pull it out of the bag. But I don't know that I'll say the same when they face the Jags...
7. Real quick: How many will we have out with injuries for this game? Dozhier seems to be back to his old self. Did we lose anyone last night against the Bears? I saw #22 (Madden, I think?) get a little shook up but seemed to be okay later in the game. And to Nederland fans: How are your boys looking injury wise? Anybody go out last night or is everyone healthy? Hopefully after next Friday everyone will leave the field without any injuries.
8.
Ned could throw a heck of a kink in the playoff picture with a win here...
So could Ozen.  :D (But I really doubt that.)
9. Well, for sure Nederland is coached well. And it never fails ... they always seem to have a gameplan to spring a few surprises on us. Even when they are picked to lose beacuase they are in a "down year" or something. The Dogs always come to play when they step on the field and they always seem to have a few surprises in those sleeves of theirs. If we stick to the ground and pound playcalling with a few passes sprinkled in? I really like our chances. If we just start running bootlegs trying to pass all night? Well, we could leave Mid-County disappointed like we did on our last trip over there. I'll put it simple: If our O-line plays like it did tonight against LC-M and like we did against Central? No problem. We play like we did against PN-G? Big problems. Like always, I'm not predicting a score. I expect a good game ... and hopefully no injuries on either team. Good luck to everyone next week. GO PIRATES!!!
10.
Now for the Vidor fans sitting on the LCM side ..... not so classy.  Students will stand and they will cheer. If they are in your way I suggest you move.  The district needs to take care of this.  This is a disaster waiting to happen.
I can beat that. I'm a Vidor fan and one of our fans even told me to move because she couldn't see. People like that make me just roll my eyes. Do they really expect us to just sit there? It's a football game ... not a court case. And yes, we really do need more seating. But everytime we try to improve anything in athletics, we seem to get all the cockroaches crawling out of the woodwork to form an opposition. Our last bond we tried to get a gym built for Oak Forest Elememtary and the opposition griped louder than everyone else and even shot that down in the vote. What do they care? Their kids don't go to Vidor schools. But I better not get started on that. I'll just say that I agree with you on the seating.
11. Well, the boys came out for redemption tonight ... and it payed huge dividends. We came out strong with the playcalling being a lot of ground-and-pound EARLY on. And what happened? 49-15, that's what happened. It wasn't broke tonight and we didn't try to "fix" it like last week. And the boys looked good. Mathews even stuck in the second string on offense for most of the fourth (shoot, he knew we had the game won, why not?), about the last 8 minutes of the quarter or so, and let Green and company build up a little more experience. And Rico looked good once again getting a few handoffs. He already looked good on defense on the night. LC-M saw some success through the air, but for the most part fizzled in the red zone. But Gonzales is one heck of a QB and has a good arm. With a better O-line tha guy could scare the living daylights out of a defense. Pretty accurate tonight on a lot of passes, seemed to know right where his receivers were downfield. I can already tell that LC-M looks a whole lot better in the Crouch era than they did mentally in the Moody days. But, back to my Pirates ... great game. Carry this momentum into next week and I really like our chances, even if it is in Mid-County. And to Mathews and his coaching crew ... thanks for pulling the trigger tonight. Keep it up and wear those defenses down. GO PIRATES!!!
12. As usual, I'm not going to predict a score. I'm just hoping for a redemption week. And if the boys are too ... well, let's just say I wouldn't want to be in a green and gold jersey this Friday night. Here's hoping the Pirates I expected to see this past Friday show up this Friday. GO PIRATES!!!
13. Thanks for the nice words back, guys. I feel a lot more optimistic today. From now on, I think I will adopt badndn's 12-hour rule if and when this type thing happens in the future. ;D Good luck to everyone this coming weekend and have a great week.
14. Just to start off, no moderator sent me a message telling me to do this. No other Vidor fan or PN-G fan sent me a message either. I'm doing this on my own account because, well, I'm man enough to admit when my actions are wrong. I apologize for coming across in a bad light on the PN-G/Vidor thread last night. If anyone thinks I hate any of the Vidor coaches, please know that I don't. And no, I'm not a coach. No I do not think I can do a better job. In fact, I know I can't. I'm just a fan .... a very passionate fan. By passionate, I mean that I not only want us to make the playoffs this year. I'd like to see us make the playoffs every year. I want to see a winning tradition in Vidor. We have great kids here that play just as hard as anyone else. And I'm proud of our kids and have shown up to support my team even in the lean years. But last night, I let my passion and zeal get the better of me and I posted without giving myself a chance to calm down. What happens then? Well, we get this thing called foot-in-mouth disease. Yeah, I'm man enough to admit I was wrong. I hate it when I see NFL coaches throw their players under the bus, and, well, last night I threw the Vidor coaching staff under the bus. I acted like the very thing I hate. And for that I apologize to our coaches, our players and to all the Pirates fans. I shouldn't let my passion for our team, and my zeal for Pirates athletics, become an excuse of making an arse of myself on the message boards. If I offended any coaches, coaches' family members, players or players' family members, again ... I apologize. While I did view the playcalling as mediocre last night, I never should have said that the coaches must not have done their job. I'm pretty sure Mathews makes sure his staff watches hours and hours of film. It just seems to me that the playcalling has gone downhill since the Central and Lumberton games. Hopefully every player on our team hates what I said in that earlier post, and will come out next Friday to prove me wrong. Use it on the field so to speak. I want our kids to excel. I don't want us to settle for less, for just getting by. I want to see us become the team that everyone dreads having to play. We have the potential. We need to pull the trigger. And my zeal for these kids gets riled up when I see us not pulling the trigger. But again, my zeal is not an excuse for how I posted last night. I should have used more class. Most of the time, I do. But last night I didn't. I posted in an angry manner. And for that, again, I apologize to the entire team, staff, and Vidor community. And speaking of class, my pal badndn pointed out that I shouldn't judge PN-G coaches based on one game and call them classless. And, he is right. Just because I felt like they were trying to run up the score does not mean that was why they did what they did in the final minute. So, I should not have used my opinion to belittle everyone else. I apologize to the PN-G community, team and coaching staff. I would like to say to Coach Faircloth (if he even ever reads these boards): "Welcome to Southeast Texas. I'm just another passionate football fan for my team and I let my zeal get the best of me. Keep up the good work, you are the coach that PN-G needed." That being said, congratulations to PN-G on last night's contest. You have one heck of a team and I will be an Indian backer in the playoffs as well. Good luck to everyone next week! GO PIRATES!!!
15. Well, I'm off for now. Tell TexAgNDN that I got my pillow, but I won't be doing any singing tonight. ;D Despite the feedback from those who don't know me that well, I have to say I feel like I have exorcised the demons and feel a little better now. Must have worked too. Heck, I'm already looking forward to next week. So, good night and ... GO PIRATES!!!!
16. You know, I still haven't heard anything about Utterback. I asked some people the other day and never got any word back. Man, I sure hope so. As for passing, I agree with you. it is like we only pass if we have to. Which is bad because the opposing defense is expecting it and keys in on pass defense. In the first drive we should throw at least two or three time. Not TD passes necessarily, but just enough to open up the running game that we have built this team around. But it seems like when we throw, it is all passing. When we run, it is all run. But I'm sure you noticed that tonight. Same in Lumberton. Came out throwing, but didn't run like we are capable of doing. Drives me crazy.
17. At last! A good, logical reply. Thank you! I respect that. Man, you just have to pour salt don't you? ;D Still, a FG would have sufficed if that was all it was really about IMO. Thanks. Best of luck to you guys too. Hope everyone stays away from the injury bug for sure.
18. Well, it is usually what they themselves say in the post-game interview... Come on. Do you REALLY believe we played to our full potential and went in prepared for PN-G? Serious question here. Do you really think that?
19. :D :D Thanks for at least being original! Even I have to say that was a good one. Yes, I can laugh at myself. Look, I don't hate anyone ... coaches, teams, etc. If you are reading that into my post, read it again. I hate mediocrity. And tonight we played very mediocre. Again, I see more than one Vidor game a year.
20. I sure hope BmtSoulja1 sees that you called me a hater! He'll laugh his rear-end off about that one with me! :D :D Anyone who knows me knows I call it like I see it and I am one of the most staunch supporters of Vidor athletics that there is. And since you only see Vidor play one game a year, I think I speak a little more in perspective to how the playcalling went tonight. A hater? What a laugh! Thanks man, I needed that! ;D
21. So why not just line up for a field goal? That would have been the 18 needed, as we missed an extra-point earlier, right? That is why I don't believe it was just about the points. Just saying. All in all, your boys played a heck of a game. Hats off to them. Keep it up.
22. Wow. Just wow. Your first post and that is all you got? :D Try at least talking football or something kid. Sheesh!
23. I predict a slaughter by PN-G. They should be 8-0 after next week.
24. Call me classless for an opinion that differs from yours? But I can't call that coaching decision classless? Help! It's the thought police! ;D Come on guys. You wouldn't want it done to you. You really think we'd have used any remaining timeouts to stop a kneel down in the final minute down two scores and a point? Come on. We're all smarter than that.
