1. With the talk I've heard lately? K-ville by a lot.
2. I talked to a friend of mine the other day who had talked to one of our main players coming back. He sounded pretty disappointed. I guess if what he was told by the kid was right you can go ahead and put Vidor in the No. 8 spot.  :-[
3. Our O-line will definitely be down from last season, but the real problem is what Soulja1 said: No Pittman, Peevey or Tate. And it is true that our passing is not going to fool anyone, as we only throw once (or less) in a blue moon.  ;D Of course running the bootleg last year with a big line that is not very fast just made me shake my head everytime. Poor kid never really got a chance to throw the ball, unprotected as he was. Same problem with the shotgun in the playoff game. But who knows? If we really do have a smaller, more athletic line maybe we can run the bootleg effectively this year.
4. 1. Central 2. PN-G 3. Nederland Out of LC-M and Ozen, I'll give that edge to LC-M. So... 4. LC-M Just give us a season though, and you might find yourself putting us in that top four again ... about a year from now.  ;)
5.
Vidor goes into the playoffs on a winning note defeating Livingston 7 to 0 in xtra innings!!
Yes! Way to go Pirates!
6. Man, I love reading these prediction threads after the game is over.  ;D
7. Gonzalez really impressed me with his mobility and his arm last season. If LC-M gets the right receivers around him? Look out.
8. Go Jags. Representing 20-4A is now squarely on your shoulders. Take it to 'em!
9.
Its up to Central tomorrow
GO JAGS!!!
10.
Brenham will just purely be out matched here...out of their league.
Well, I guess that the old tired cliche of "any team can win any given night" still rings true, eh?
11.

Vidor won state the year my dad graduated, it was in the 60s. I'm hoping this is a wake-up call to the players that they CAN make the playoffs.  That they do have the talent to WIN.
Vidor lost to San Marcos that year.
Actually, it was a tie. San Marcos got the win on more first downs or something like that. No OT play back then or something. At least that is what I've been told by the people who actually went to the game back then. Congrats to Dayton. And I was proud of our boys. For our defense to hold the Broncos' offense to 21 points? That is pretty darn good. The offense just made too many mistakes to overcome against a team like Dayton. Especially allowing a defensive touchdown after snapping the ball over the QB's head two times in a row! >:( >:( Oh well. Go Jags and Indians!!!
12.
Actually... We could probably pull up our 7th grade Ponies to finish off the game, even then, Vidor still might not be able to score. Pirates being stampeded by Broncos won't be a pretty site.
From what I'm hearing, your varsity isn't as good as it was when you were in the district with us. So, I wouldn't start making junior high references. Not even Faircloth's Indians could keep us out of the endzone all night. And we played lick for lick with Central ... a team bigger than you and just as fast or faster.
13.
You guys haven't beaten a single team with a winning record.
Well ... there is always a first time for everything. And after looking at this season so far, eh...  ;D But hey, like the rest of this season, I'm not predicting a score. I'm just going to predict a very exciting and hopefully injury-free game on both sides. GO PIRATES, JAGS, BULLDOGS, AND INDIANS!!!
14. Wow. Down to the wire. Well, that just proves that this area has more talents than you can shake a stick at. I'm looking forward to all of our teams being dominant in the playoffs! Good luck next week to the Indians, Jaguars, Bulldogs and, who is that other team? Oh yeah, my VIDOR PIRATES!!!!  ;D Time to show everyone in the state who 20-4A is. LET'S ROLL!!!
15. Anyone who knows me knows that I've been critical of our playcalling in the past (which is called criticism and not being a "hater" for those of you out there who don't seem to know the difference  ::) ), but tonight we looked like the team we were at the beginning of the year. Smashmouthing the Livingston D into submission early and grinding the clock while actually throwing from the pocket on offense as well instead of that same ol' darn bootleg. Great win Pirates! Now, I do feel that we still have to get a little creative on offense if we want to throw off the big boys in the playoffs. But if it comes down to grinding out a game to chew up clock for the win? We'll have no problem. The trick will be building a lead early. Time to get to work, boys. I can't wait to see what is cooked up. And if anyone was wondering who that fat guy and his bald daddy were chanting "Playoffs! Playoffs!" at the end of the game? Look no further, baby! This is where I want to see us every freakin' year! And we have the talent. No more excuses. I hope this is the start of something big for years to come. GO PIRATES!!!
16.
Good luck tonight, hope they all stay healthy and the best team wins! BY the way use number 43 more often, that kid is a player and should be thrown to at least 10 times a game!
That's James Laramore, ndn78, and believe me you are preaching to the choir when you say that. There may be others that need to see that point made though. So, please send that same suggestion to: Jeff Mathews c/o Vidor High School 500 Orange St. Vidor, TX 77662 ;D ;D ;D
17. But coaches don't prepare for a game based on how they played someone else. Not unless they are complete morons. They plan their gameplan according to who they play next by watching film (supposedly). So, regardless of how they played against some team that you see as stoppable, it is because that is how they prepared for that team. Unless Central's coaches are idiots, they are basing their gameplan on y'all's films, not on how they played us.  ::) Who you've won or lost to don't mean jack crap if your coaches are worth their salt.
18. Since we are talking about motivation: I don't think my Pirates can do it. They are too soft on defense. Shane and Kevin can't get through that line. We might as well forfit and not even bother turning the lights on. The Lions beat Central so we know that they are better than us. Why bother? Rico, Tinkle and Reynolds can't get behind their line for any sacks. We're sunk. We can't win this game. (Players, feel free to cut out this in parantheses and post the rest of the above post in the locker room. Get everybody mad and fired up!  ;D  GO PIRATES!!!)
19. They haven't seen speed or a defense like the Jags yet. (I say that regretfully, as they should have seen a better defense out of us. Coulda, shoulda, woulda though ... *sigh!*) But anyway, even if PN-G wins I think it will be closer than most people think. Hopefully, Soulja1, y'all put it together at the Babe and make the Injuns have to share the title. Could get interesting.
20. I just hope that the team we are capable of being shows up Friday night. We can play better than we did at Ned. We can't afford to come out soft and flat in this one like we did the previous game's first quarter. After suffering through the 5A years where we were outmanned every single year, I know disappointment first-hand. I really hope we can get something done Friday night. If we want to build a playoff-caliber team year in and year out, then we can't settle for mediocre playing ... that goes for the fans too. We can't keep coddling failure and making excuses. I'm sick of hearing excuses. We gotta pull the trigger right off the bat Friday, early and often. GO PIRATES!!!
21.
If you are going to count the bad snap on the punt then you have to count the band snap of one of our missed FG attempts.  Then we win by 3 instead of 2!!!!
Well, since the bad snap was part of the game, yes, I count that as a factor. It did happen in the game didn't it? I mean, correct me if I'm wrong...  ::) You guys squeak out a win by two points and all of a sudden we are the same old Vidor. Something tells me if we had been the victors by two, then we'd have heard how Nederlan was just having a bad year and we were lucky to squeak by a young team. We would have got no respect in some of your eyes either way. I just think it is funny that y'all are ribbing me over admitting mistakes cost us the game. Did they not happen? Because I sure as heck did not see two perfect teams out there. I would like to visit this alternate dimension that you watch games in.  ;D And baddog, I see your point on intentional grounding. But that happened on 1-10 after the unsportsmanlike call, correct? Maybe I'm wrong about that. That would have only made it 2nd and 25. But even if it was 3rd and 25, yes, I would take that over giving the ball over to you guys to chew up clock. Hard fought game, just wish we could have sealed the deal. Oh well. We'll just have to take it out on the Lions next Friday. GO PIRATES!!!
22. Hit them in the mouth early and then pound the crap out of them. Play that way and we'll win. Start out lacadasical(sp?) like we did in Nederland? It will be a long night. Come on, Pirates. Prove all these haters and critics wrong!!! GO PIRATES!!!
