It will be a great game as always.  Every once in a while you get a few that step out of line but both of our school administrations address problems quickly and with corrective action to keep things in check.

Great news!  Really happy for you guys.  I know those kids are going to be excited to play their first game on it.

I know this is the high school forum, but since Colton graduated from Nederland I thought I would post it.  Saw on the news that he will be playing overseas for the French team.  Said he is moving the family with him, so cool!  Very happy to see that his career in basketball is continuing.  Wishing him the best of luck!

I think people will stand in line for a better, safer and more up to date NISD.  I didn't ask anyone on there views.  It was a mix crowd old and young.  But that is good.  We will get an answer Saturday night. 

You're right.  Forgive me, the correct term is libel as it is written word  Just because the folks are too goodnatured to be bothered with the litigation doesn't mean that your beloved Mr. Klein has not committed the offense.
I confirmed the report about Ozen was liberlous as I directly contacted then-AD at Barbers Hill Ronnie Gage who assured me had no damage to their visitor locker room, as your beloved Mr. Klein had alleged in an article that I believe you posted here.  In fact, I recall posting Coach Gage's email response in its entirety.  Thus your beloved Mr. Klein published an allegation that was false, which is actionable defamation under tort law.
I confirmed the report was slander with the UIL who new of no investigation as to any athletic program in this area. So his allegations there are equal libel.

So, as to Superintendent Perez:  How exactly do her e-mails violate the above Section?  They merely provide encouragement to vote on the measure, they certainly do not advocate passage or defeat of the measure.  So for Mr. Klein to allege that either the signs he show in his "Top Story" last week or the emails of Ms. Perez were the commission of a felony (which in itself is libel as violation of this provision is a Class A misdemeanor as stated in Sec. 255.003 (c)) does indeed meet the standards of actionable libel.
As to Ms. Bell, I think the story at least acknowledges that she is not an employee of a political subdivision.  For her to use her private e-mail account to send e-mails to teachers of Nederland ISD whose email addresses are available to the viewing public, is not use of government computers and of government databases.
You do not need a JD (which, yes, I do happen to have) to find this information.  In fact, the Texas Ethics Commission has quite a handy pamphlet in circulation which was rather easy to find:

As I stated earlier, due to his constant aversion to the truth, no links to Mr Klein's paper shall be used in this forum.  You have been reminded of that and I will take any posting of links to his paper as you willful intent to ignore the prohibition.

First of all, I am QUITE sure that I had barred any posting of idiot Klein's paper here due to his slanderous articles in the past about local athletic programs (Ozen messing up the locker room after a bi-district game with Barbers Hill and, most recently, the allegations that 3 different athletic programs in the area were being investigated on recruiting allegations).
Second, what laws were broken here?  Superintendent Perez sending voting information for early voting.  Sorry pal, that's legal.  No advocacy for or against the bond so it is allowed under election laws.  As for Ms. Bell, there is no showing that the emails originated from  government computer.  That is like saying that the email questionnaire that I will be sending to Coach Barrow (you know, the coach you love to hate) in a couple of weeks is use of a government computer.  And I found his email address on the Nederland ISD, that is not illegal use of a government database.
It is again Philip Klein doing what he does best, posting slanderous nonsense, half truths and outright lies......much like you have done on this thread.
 

The turf is suppose to be finished by August weather permitting but you know how that goes in Southeast Texas! And yes all the kids are pumped. All Junior High and High School Football games will be played on it including Soccer. Come on Football Season!

I went by and voted YES yesterday and the line was close to going out the door.  After being in line for a little while, I got a strong impression that all those folks were there to vote YES as well. 

Haven’t heard anything but I’d assume at some point they would add parking where all the portable buildings are that are currently housing our 5th graders and Oak Forest Elementary due to Harvey. Our 6th graders are at the Junior High with the 7th and 8th graders.  FEMA funding is tied up in that situation to get a new middle school and a new Oak Forest Elementary. Our schools are just as old as Nederlands so we feel y’all’s pain. It’ll eventually get worked out. Good Luck passing that bond.

I for one want this bond to pass and have been wanting to see new schools and improvements done for years.  Heck, we were already in serious need when I went through school (graduated Nederland '88).  Point being, for everyone wanting to vote YES, minds are made up and all the NO voters complaining are falling upon deaf ears.  I have spoke to a bunch of Nederland residents, and I mean a bunch, and guess what .... voting YES.  Doesn't surprise me at all.  They all know it needs to happen and putting it off will only be more expensive when we are finally forced to do it. Been riding around town and have seen ten times more vote Yes signs in front of houses and businesses then vote No signs...if that is a real reflection of what is going to happen at the poles May 4th then I will be doing the HAPPY DANCE!

I don’t have a problem with them providing food for people that are taking 3+ hours out of their evenings to help better the community.  
The district provides plenty of people food all of the time.  Why should they provide a spread for the media in the press box at football games?  They are getting paid to be there.  Athletes and other extra curricular participants eat on our dime all of the time.  Coaches and refs at tournaments also.  
If we are going to ask people to spend their dinner time touring schools, I don’t have an issue feeding them.  

I'd rather pass the bond now and pay whatever the increase is NOW rather than waiting another 5, 10, 15 years when the price tag is MUCH HIGHER.  Passing the bond now makes a lot more sense to me.  People that want to vote no now will be asking themselves later why didn't we do this earlier when it was at a cheaper rate.
