  1. We were absolutely NOT ready for the spread offense. We had seen it in games. Practiced against it, but nothing could prepare us for facing a team with the talent Ennis had running the spread to perfection. We have since become much better at defensing it. That was the first time we had actually played anyone who ran it and we experienced the same problems that LaMarque did when they ran into Stephenville. Coach T made adjustments in the second half that helped, but it was to late by that time.
  2. I'm not trying to offend anyone here, but a lot is being said about the Silsbee offense. This is just me, but It seems that the attention needs to be on the defense. Giving up 28 points a game is not going to cut it in the playoffs, D1 or D2. If they could shore up the defense, they could better use that bll control veer offense and not have to score so many points. Also, WO-S will be happy to make the playoffs, D1 or D2, it don't matter to us.
  3. In three games we have 584 rushing yards and 444 passing. I'd say that's pretty balanced.
  4. Andre is fine. He was held out of all practices last week and he says he's ready to go.
  5. Come on dude... a 99 yard screen pass does not a passing game, make.
  6. I see it this way, Silsbee gave up 21 points to Lumberton in a scrim and 27, 32 and 24 in their games. Obviously, the defense can be scored on. OF has a much improved offense and a 3 year starter at QB who can beat you with his arm or his feet. Silsbee has a great running game but the passing game is nonexistent. Blake Morrison is a great coach and was a defensive coordinator. He is going to stack the line and try to force Silsbee to throw. If they are successful, they sneak out with an impressive win, if not, the game will still be close.
  7. Just one correction TVC, WB started 0-3 and lost to TJ in district. They entered the playoffs at 6-4. Please continue...
  8. I don't understand all the Deweyville hatin either. Hey, the kids don't make the schedule, they just play it. They are playing very well too. I think Dwight has done a fantastic job over there and I wish him all the luck.
  9. Is Carter still intimidating people?? What color are they anyway? I thought they were red...
  10. LOL... I was thinking about this very thing the other day. It's going to be awefully hard to be very intimidating when you are sporting the pastel colors. Powder Blue is the color of my daughters bedroom, not the color of an intimidating, hard nosed football team. That's why WO-S went away from the royal blue to the navy blue many years ago.
  11. You should know ALL about that!!
  12. My Step Daughter says it was. She said OF was down 21-6 at one point and it was 27-22 BC with 7:30 left in the 4th when I spoke with her. I think the OF freshman are 3-0. I know for sure they have not lost a game yet, but I could be wrong on the number of wins.
  13. Only the "Ocho" would have a team that was the victim of a 35-0 blowout as their number 1 team. QB or no QB, if this teams success is that dependent on one player, then they are not a number 1 team. I think this poll has some serious issues. Of course, polls don't amount to anything more than material to talk about, but I couldn't resist.
  14. Watching the determination of the BC defense last night, it's hard to believe they got beat that bad in their first 2 games. After seeing the number of turnovers they had in the first 2 games, along with the penalties, they sound like what they are... a young team. BC is not void of talent. They have as much size and speed as they always have and they will keep improving. The injury to Bevil on our first offensive series was huge in this game. He could not throw the ball down field due to the seperated shoulder which allowed BC to load up on the run and force us to throw. They fought hard and wanted to make a statement last night, which I feel they did even though they lost. I'm proud of our boys for gutting this one out. I'm especially proud of Bevil who refused to come out of the game even when he could barely move his throwing arm. Anytime your team is in the hands of a competitor like he is, injured or not, you're in good shape.
  15. That info came from a coach...
  16. WOW!!! I thought this game would be much closer. The JV is 3-0 against some solid opponents and most of the kids are Sophomores. Varsity should be OK next year...
  17. From what I understand, the Bear JV has 17 Juniors. That's quite a lot for a 4A program. Good turn out.
  18. You cannot get it done consistently through the air only, you have to be able to run it a little. If Dayton uses that big line and runs the ball with the QB and Dugat and uses the clock, they win.
