  1. Because that is the only way to measure whether or not the players you have in place were successful. You have to have a measure, scores and stats are that measure. THAT is why they DO mean something even if they don't count. There is a BIG difference between not counting and not meaning anything. Anyway, I think this subject is played out. Good luck to everyone this weekend. Whether they mean anything or not... sorry, couldn't resist.
  2. Jerry, this is the first time I read this thread. I'm sooooo glad your boy is OK. God is good! Now, sit back, breathe a BIG sigh of relief and go play some golf and enjoy the football season. Hope to see you soon! Brent
  3. We know the game doesn't count toward your record. That really goes without saying. If you think that a coach doesn't care if his team performs poorly OR doesn't want to win the scrimmage, you are sorely mistaken.
  4. Usually the folks whose teams either tied or got beat say they don't mean anything and those whose teams performed well think they do. Reality is somewhere in the middle.
  5. I expect OF to be twice the team than that BH team I saw last night was.
  6. Where is it? I've been looking for a button or something, but can't find it anywhere.
  7. Someone in chat said that PNG lost 28-7. Are you sure on that score?
  8. In a controlled scrim, if you are closer to the opposing teams 30 and have a turnover you just turn around and start again from that 30. It is not an indication of a score.
  9. It looks great, even with the subliminal Newton "plug" on top...
  10. OK first of all it's the "Chain Gang" not the "Wrecking Crew", you just showed us how much you know about our team. I realize that's your opinion and I respect that. It's true, we have not been the same defensive power we were from the mid 80's through the 2000 season, a time which the only team in 4A that could even think of matching our defensive prowess was LaMarque. From 2001 to 2005 we were not the same team. We think it will be back though, there are still many athletes in WO-S and size was never a key ingredient to our success. This may be the year and it may not, but the "Chain Gang" will rise again. 8)
  11. I knew God was a WO-S fan... thanks for confirming that. 8)
  12. I always played defense more than offense, but I always had an offensive mind. Meaning, when I wasn't in the game on offense, I would always study the defense and try to figure out which plays would work.
  13. I think it's probably accurate. From what I hear the Tatum kid is really as good as the hype. Tatum has generated some big time athletes in the past. You've gotta love the name too. Classic East Texas. I think he ranks #1 for RB names with Noel Devine a close second. 8)
  14. ahhh... but those teams won with defense, not offense.
  15. I'm not basing my opinion by what some publication, who probably never saw the kid play, says they are ranked. I base it off of what I've seen with my own 2 eyes. Earl plays for a 3A school and goes both ways. He did not play defense full time last year as did Wells. He was not able to pad his stats. I did see both play this summer and Earl by far out shined Wells. Wells got roasted by a 3A team. Earl played nothing but 5A and NEVER got beat. Earl plays like he's pissed all the time. You can't teach that. Wells has all the tools and is an OUTSTANDING DB. I just do not feel he has the same tenacious mentality that Earl does. This is MY OPINION ONLY.
  16. It'll be interesting to see who the "odd man out" will be in this district.
  17. God bless this child. Under God, we are all one community.
  18. Tatum is in East Texas and they dropped to 2A.
