WO-S will have some size this year as well. Jon sturlese has gone from 230 to about 280. Tim Matherne is about 260. We will have size. The skill people, well, they are typical WO-S skill people. 8)

Wells is a good player, but Earl is definitely the best corner in this area, maybe in the state. He will not play offense nearly as much as defense. He will play some offense, but will not come off the field on defense. He is a true "lock down" corner. Teams will not make a living throwing his way. We haven't had many as good as Earl. He reminds me a lot of Jermaine Hope, just bigger.

I've been told the same thing coming from the UT camp. They've also thrown around the idea of putting him back there. I doubt it will happen, but it's a testament to his ability.

French tied for the state title in 1984. The 1985 season was their last season. They missed the playoffs that year by losing to WO-S 10-7 in the driving rain. The teams that made the playoffs that year were WO-S (1st) and BCP (2nd). It was the first time BCP had made the playoffs since the merger of Beaumont High and Charlton Pollard.

Well... neither of those plays helped the cause. We really blew that game. I remember Rodney's catch like it was yesterday. The DB tried to make a play on the ball on their sideline, but he missed it and Rodney caught it and was all alone. I was so sure he was going to score that I had turned and raised my helmet to the crowd. I couldn't believe it when I turned around and he had been caught. He was literally all by himself. I still don't know where the kid who caght him came from. I was sent in at guard on the goal line. First play we jump offsides, then do it again on the next play (neither were me :wink: ). After that, it was all over. Another missed opportunity in that game was when Harold Green (the fastest 200 meter hurdle guy in the state), broke down the sideline and pulls a hammy and gets caught from behind. We didn't score that time either.

Coop, take Sports Extra for example. The station doesn't make money off of the players and coaches that are on your program. BUT, they make a ton of money off of local and non local advertisers who pay a ton of money to have their ads played during the broadcast because they know there will be a large local viewing. Of course, this is how the business makes it's money, but they are using local sports because it makes them money. The pay back for the individuals on the program is publicity. I tend to agree with GS, they do not have a monetary responsibility to give back to the schools, but I feel they DO have a moral responsibility to do what they can in certain situations.

kosmosis... by making statements that contain "they are" or "would be" it insinuates that you have arrived at your decision by analyzing some kind of info. I guess the idea that we would be 7-3 just popped into your head and there was no information or games witnessed that would draw you to that conclusion, innate knowledge I think they call it... sorry man. We (as in WO-S fans) are sorry we ruffled your tail feathers. We will be sure as to not respond in any manner other than a positive one about any of your posts in the future. Since you are so objective about how good your team is, I (we) thought you would have the same objectivity towards a rebuttle to one of your posts. :wink:
