French tied for the state title in 1984. The 1985 season was their last season. They missed the playoffs that year by losing to WO-S 10-7 in the driving rain. The teams that made the playoffs that year were WO-S (1st) and BCP (2nd). It was the first time BCP had made the playoffs since the merger of Beaumont High and Charlton Pollard.

Well... neither of those plays helped the cause. We really blew that game. I remember Rodney's catch like it was yesterday. The DB tried to make a play on the ball on their sideline, but he missed it and Rodney caught it and was all alone. I was so sure he was going to score that I had turned and raised my helmet to the crowd. I couldn't believe it when I turned around and he had been caught. He was literally all by himself. I still don't know where the kid who caght him came from. I was sent in at guard on the goal line. First play we jump offsides, then do it again on the next play (neither were me :wink: ). After that, it was all over. Another missed opportunity in that game was when Harold Green (the fastest 200 meter hurdle guy in the state), broke down the sideline and pulls a hammy and gets caught from behind. We didn't score that time either.

Coop, take Sports Extra for example. The station doesn't make money off of the players and coaches that are on your program. BUT, they make a ton of money off of local and non local advertisers who pay a ton of money to have their ads played during the broadcast because they know there will be a large local viewing. Of course, this is how the business makes it's money, but they are using local sports because it makes them money. The pay back for the individuals on the program is publicity. I tend to agree with GS, they do not have a monetary responsibility to give back to the schools, but I feel they DO have a moral responsibility to do what they can in certain situations.

kosmosis... by making statements that contain "they are" or "would be" it insinuates that you have arrived at your decision by analyzing some kind of info. I guess the idea that we would be 7-3 just popped into your head and there was no information or games witnessed that would draw you to that conclusion, innate knowledge I think they call it... sorry man. We (as in WO-S fans) are sorry we ruffled your tail feathers. We will be sure as to not respond in any manner other than a positive one about any of your posts in the future. Since you are so objective about how good your team is, I (we) thought you would have the same objectivity towards a rebuttle to one of your posts. :wink:

1983... WO-S vs PNG We had just taken the lead at the end of the third quarter. PNG gets the ball and has one of those long consuming drives down the field (I'm playing DE for WO-S). Anyway, they get down to our 5 w/ about 4 minutes left in the game. They have a 4th and 3 situation. Coach T sends our defensive play in and tells me specifically to watch for the reverse; I can still hear him... "stay at home". Well, they run the toss to the weak side (they had been doing it the whole drive and we couldn't stop it). So... thinking I recognized it prior to the play because I was watching the tailbacks eyes, I get a good jump off the snap and think I have the play stopped. I'll be damned if the tailback doesn't pitch the ball to the receiver coming around the back side and me thinking SON OF A B***H, MOTHER F****R, IT 'S A DA*N REVERSE... I never ran so hard in my life trying to catch that kid, but it was all for not... he scored and we lost.

Well... I can take critiqueing. If you experts say WO-S was a 7-3 team please back that analogy with a reason for your conclusion. If we would have had 3 losses in the regular season, who would they have been to? Keep in mind, you can't figure the games as if we would not have had someone playing QB. If we didn't have Beasley, we would have had someone else back there. Either Earl Thomas or Andre Bevil, who was a much more accomplished passer than Beasley. So let us know which games we would not have won and why. Also, in those games, let us know what Beasley did for us that another person, playing that position, wouldn't. While your at it, go ahead and give us what BC's record would have been without Dishon. We all know what happened the one game they played without him. Please give us some insight on what would have happened in the rest. Not trying to ruffle feathers, but I think Dishon meant waaaaay more to BC's team than Beasley did to WO-S. I truly believe that BC was a 5-5 team without Dishon.

Sell. Kville could be the team with 0 district wins. B or S: OF shocks everyone and nabs one of the 3 playoff spots.

Buy: HJ or HF, one will not win a district game I'm afraid. My personal feeling are that it will be HJ. Never have had a defense and just lost all the offense they had. B or S: Kenneth Beasley will find the starting line up on defense this year and be voted the Big Twelve newcomer of the year.

Buy. B or S: WO-S gets at least as far this year as they did last year.
