  1. I think this will be a very tough game. Much tougher than it was last year. If anyone happened to make the WO-S vs LCM JV game last year. I expect this game to be very similar. Hopefully, with the same result... ;D
  2. Livingston returns 8 on offense and 7 on defense from that team last year. Some of which include some mammoth lineman (6'8" 300lbs). Should be interesting. I just can't imagine Livingston beating Jasper 2 years in a row though.
  3. The Wing-T is no so much about "trickery" as it is misdirection. The offense is based on setting up a certain play then running misdirection so to catch you over pursuing. The Wing-T run the right way with the right kind of O-line is very difficult to stop. Again, as always, it's success is based on matchups and discipline. It can be very effective against speed defenses (like WO-S) because they tend to over pursue at times. When they do, it results in big plays for the offense. I think that it is a good offense to fit the personnel at Vidor. I thought they did a very good job against our D and I also think it was a very good learning experience for our young defense as we will see, at least, 2 more Wing-T offenses during the season.
  4. I'm hearing today that WO-S IS having one. To answer your question, the principle at the school has some sort of personal vendetta toward pep rallies. I guess he has a problem with school spirit and supporting your athletic programs... >
  5. I think we will. The positive though is that we have scrimmaged 2 teams who are traditionally running teams and have only given up 1 TD. That's encouraging.
  6. I thought the Vidor O-line and running backs played well. The should have a stout rushing attack this year.
  7. I'm not real sure who he was, but a media guy I spoke with at the half said it is probably a season ending injury. I really hate that for the kid. Hopefully, he isn't a senior. What a horrible way to end your senior year.
  8. You've GOT to be kidding... explaining the game now, are we? Aren't you the same person who said that the BH defensive line (who's 1st team gave up 5 yards a carry) and offensive line (who's 1st team could not get past the 50 and ran 6 total plays in the 12 minute quarter) "dominated" the line of scrimmage? :D In your own words... YAWN
  9. I would love to see it to, but I'm not going to miss the Stangs! ;D ;D ;D
  10. Is this Fri or Sat?
  11. Is Artis Rubin, the transfer from WOS, playing? If so, how is he doing? That kid has all the potential in the world.
  12. You know, after I saw BH in the WO-S game scrimmage last year I thought the same thing. In fact, I thought they would be a 3 win team at best. They proved me wrong. Every week they would win again and I would think, "how the heck"??? This year, I'm thinking the same thing. So maybe history will repeat itself and you WILL get to go 0-2.
  13. It's called trying to make chicken salad out of chicken crap. Those two are experts at it.
  14. I also think he's delirious, because there is no doubt, both the plays he referred to occured in the JV scrimmage. The "70 yard bomb" was from the QB #28 to #36. Both of whom were on the JV and never saw any playing time in the varsity scrimmage. Also, the running back who broke and got caught from behind was #35, a back up running back on the JV. BHFAN should quit worrying so much about ruffling our feathers and start worrying more about the fact that the entire Barbers Hill football program was shut out yesterday... Three squads, with about 80 players each, could not muster a single TD. Not good... :
  15. Dude... are you sure you didn't watch the JV scrimmage and leave and completely miss the varisty? The only reason I'm saying this is because the JV tailback was the one who got caught from behind during the JV scrimmage. Also, the 70 yard pass was on the second to last play of the JV scrimmage.
  16. If you didn't see BH get dominated last night then you were asleep in the corner. In the controlled scrimmage WO-S marched up and down the field. BH crossed the 50 once in the game situation and the controlled portions combined (and they were starting on the 30). If you consider keeping us to 3 TD's "holding your own" then I'll give it to you, but please be realistic. I will admit, I had my doubts going into this season and the games against Dayton and Bay City. After last night I do feel a little better.
  17. Geez, after an hour of reading this entire thread (which I now wish I could have back), I have one question... What is the difference between "dry hatin" and just plain old "hatin"????
  18. There is no doubt these kids have a good work ethic. One of the coaches told me at the beginning of two-a-days that they had the best summer work out participation ever. Like you, I was very impressed with what I saw yesterday. With a young team like this, you really don't know what to expect and they looked really good. One thing you must remember though is that BH is young too, even younger than we are, so you really don't know exactly how good they are. But, you can only play (or scrimmage) who is on your schedule and it was definitely a dominant performance. The things that impressed me the most are: 1.) How in shape we were; 2.) Our defense and their speed; 3.) Our new QB's throwing, he was probably 8-14 passing, I knew he could run, but he really threw it well too.
  19. Does anyone know if this will be a controlled scrimmage or a full game srcimmage?
  20. ??? ??? :P :P ;D ;D ;D
  21. Oh, I don't think we're being underestimated bro... and I don't think we're being dissed. Someone will always be picked to win and someone will be picked to lose. Most people pick Dayton because they won the 4A district last year and they have Green and the younger Dugat back to go along with a winning tradition. I'm not saying that is wrong or right, everyone has an opinion. I'm just saying we have done well in this situation in the past.
  22. Personally, i'm glad were not "supposed" to win this game. I think our coaching staff and our players have always excelled as the underdog. I seem to remember quite a bit of the same type of talk last year before this game. I cannot and will not make a prediction because I think it's to close to call. One thing I CAN guarantee is that WO-S will be in shape, they will be prepared, they will play 4 quarters and they WILL bring the hat.
  23. I don't care what anyone says, they are rivals. They are what you call "heated" rivals...
  24. I've heard the depth thing about WO-S for longer than I can remember. As long as Cornel Thompson is there, fatigue will not be an issue. Last year, one of the main reasons Dayton lost to WO-S was because WO-S was in better shape. Yes, I was at the game. We won the game in the 4th quarter because the Dayton defense was out of gas. You could see it happening about mid way through the 3rd. If we lose this year it will not be because of depth, it will be because we got beat by a better team that night. Diamond J, you must be a player... my advice to you would be to be very careful what you ask for.
  25. No one is underestimating anything. The fact is that they are only returning 4. When you are young, you are subject to mistakes. Especially in the first game. Most people are predicting a Dayton win just based on that, because WO-S will be young on both sides. It does not mean you are void of talent. Both teams will have good athletes.
