The whole issue revolves around a few things other coaches actively recruiting/poaching kids from other programs parents shopping kids trainers/ aau/ 7 on 7 coaches shopping kids Sure everyone wants to win and it’s a lot easier to go to currently successful programs than stick it out in a place that is struggling to win. As Lombardi said. Winning isn’t everything but wanting to is. Sometimes much more is gained by sticking it out and being part of a team that goes from 0-10 to 8-4.

When talking transfer/recruiting snafus don’t leave out San Marcos a few years back. In all honesty most coaches don’t actively look to bring kids in(grow your own and develop them) and some well they will poach anybody’s top end kids to win. Then there are the AAU/trainers/parents who will shop their kids around looking for whatever.

KW high fits that bill

Easy fix go back to the pre 1981 uil rule on transferring. 1 calendar year from enrollment. we want to think of moving for athletic purposes is something new. Ope go back and see what schools/communities out in west Texas were doing. completely understand why guys get frustrated about other schools poaching talent until the uil completely hammers down on it. It will continue to happen history may not repeat but it does rhyme

Shore got worked. 35-10. soundly beat with a couple of questionable decisions that didn’t help the cause -
North Shore (10) vs. Austin Westlake (35)/Final

Why go for it in that situation? checkers or wreckers at the beginning of the 3rd? -
The mega school is real 23-6a could have 4 over 4k enrollment. Numbers matter.
-
Shore unless something screwball happens. Untimely turnovers, penalties, overall bad luck, etc would be the only way NS drops this one
-
Is 6a r3 d2 very good? Seems that year in year out you have more talent in the d1 route.
-
That’s why 23-6a is deepest district in the state.

Some spread football teams finding out that their edge defenders don’t like to take on blocks. Not uncommon Atascocita had the same issues bs Fulshear last week -
What’s the timeline hire before semester end or extend into January? Coaches still in playoffs or go from a pool whose done?

Lamar Fulshear (42) vs Humble Atascocita (47) - FINAL

Fulshear is taking football back to the 50’s and Atascocita is not appreciating it at all -
Katy (28) vs Galena Park North Shore (42) - FINAL

Yep lots of new schools not far from there are thriving.on that note Fulshear is giving Atascocita all it wants and more -
On the defensive note. Giving up 2.3 per over the same 6 games. That is incredible these guys are giving off 83 dangerfield vibes

Since the middle of October Richmond Randle has averaged 68 pts a game. 71 thru two playoff games heading into the Brenham game. That’s pretty wild. basically 10 td’s a game for six consecutive weeks. Pretty salty for 5a ball.

Most times the places with the top end facilities tend to have better than average educational opportunities. There are exceptions just very few
-
Question if I am a parent looking at moving to an area with a couple of places available all things being equal. Do I put my kid in the place with better facilities? Wt room, practice facilities, gyms, stadiums etc? They are Selling points for communities

Coaching pay in suburbs has got to be pretty good. Guys can make mid 80’s pretty quick with enough stipends. Can be hard to leave for assistant job in country for 15k cut not to mention if wife teaches. Subs pay mid 60’s rural not so much.
-
Everyone says this or that offensive system. It’s all philosophy of the head coach that is hired. The bigger thing is players buying into that system.
-
On a positive note they seem pretty patient with coaches. as with everything are they willing to pay? how are the numbers sub varsity wise/ talent? What offensive/ defensive systems are a fit? facilities? Kids/ work ethic/ buy in? as always someone will be real happy when they get that job

Indoors have advantages for most spring sports even center now has upgraded with one and new basketball arena etc. a lot of semi suburban schools are going that way. Celina is now suburban with growth, Melissa the same in district with frisco and surrounding areas. So should our nearly suburban schools look to massively upgrade. Dayton, liberty, even Tarkington as liberty county is set for expansive growth. Bond infrastructure now or play catch up with portables. Just questions looking for opinions. Not trying to be political

Do facilities matter? Seeing 4a ball clubs west of DFW in Stephenville,Godley, and Carthage in east Texas have do facilities matter. Either really nice stadiums, indoors, etc does the arms race matter. Lots of schools have nice stuff relative to size who are some others? Personally I think they do especially money spent towards practice facilities, weightrooms etc.

Most non coaches look strictly at wins and losses however that is not entirely correct. there are many great coaches that are in situations where winning is extremely difficult and there are places where coaches don’t necessarily have to be great coaches but have great talent. To say any coach that is in a place that is struggling and saying they are bad coaches is not accurate. We are banging Cleveland pretty hard but I will bet their issues are more dna than program.
