CARL ABSECK NAMED NEW AD/HFC AT BARBERS HILL

WHEW! At least they didn't transfer for athletic purposes!!! LOL -
DCTF 5A preseason rankings

I noticed that too. They do some homework but rely on number of returning starters a bit much. Sometimes it highly correlates, but no guarantee. -

I wish he could have brought his son. That boy was clutch! -
06, My DCTF only shows 1-10. Where do you see 11-25?

Calallen is fine until they get out of the valley. Then in round 3-4 reality sets in. I think there is a significant gap between Argyle and everyone else. I would have Melissa 2 and WLV 3.

Word! Why aren't people scrutinizing BU and PAM etc. about their lack of athletic diversity? Why aren't people scrutinizing the constantly unsuccessful Hispanic HISD teams about their lack of diversity? You never hear any of that. I don't know why EVERYTHING has to be about race, but if it really, really does, lets take a hard look: 6A-I: Westlake 52 (almost all white) Southlake Carroll 34 (almost all white) 6A-II Katy 51 (mostly white but call it Mixed) Cedar Hill 14 (all black) 5A-I Denton Ryan 59 (mostly black) Cedar Park (mostly white) 14 5A-II Aledo 56 (almost all white) Crosby 21 (mixed) 4A-I Argyle 49 (all white?) Lindale 21 (mixed) 4A-II Carthage 70 (mixed) Gilmer 14 (mixed) On top of that, the two 3A Champs, Jim Ned and Canadian were all white So your 8 winners in the 4 largest classifications are White or mostly white - 5 teams Mixed - 2 teams Black - 1 team Bottom line is, white teams did very well in 2020-21 but almost anyone can win in any year. So, why are people sooo compelled to pick apart the "white teams" but stay stone cold silent on all black and all hispanic teams that don't win big? Lets put race aside. Let BH be BH, let BU be BU, and let everyone else just be who they are without racial judgment. Lets put race aside just enjoy the games! -

There will be an adjustment period. It will take until mid district for sure. Glancing at the schedule, I would not be surprised to see an 0-3 start for BH before things start to come together. District is all that matters though. -

How far away is BH and Crosby from the cutoff? Anyone in the district likely to move down? -

Clearly 14.2 is rattled by the Abseck hire. Easy to see that. -

Nothing to expand on, really. The hire looks clinically perfect, BH perhaps found the best candidate, period. Love the outsider element of it. Seems nothing influenced any decision except for the inherent merits of the candidate. Sorry, I didn't mean to imply anything or make waves, that was not my intent. Just impressed with the hire, thats all. Good luck BH! -

The more I look at Abseck, the more impressed I am. Also want to say great job by BH for reaching to the outside to find a great candidate, and not making a good old boy, nepotism type hire. With all the growth in place, I think the Eagles can do very well in the years ahead. -

No, I am not going to write anything down. There are numerous examples of State Champs who probably thought they would never win it. Besides that, why discourage anyone? What do you get out of doing that? -

I think so. BH is probably not going to win State this year, regardless who comes when. Having a somewhat late hire "might" cost a team game or two during the season (or not), but the most important thing is getting the right candidate for long term success. Right candidates are really hard to come by, so any temporary inconvenience for this season is worth it. Hire the right guy when you can, whenever it might be. -

"Plus"? Thats totally a one up. You want facts? Barbers Hill's Dual State Championships were not even 12 hrs old and you are on a SETX baseball forum talking Aledo football. With a "smirk face". -

Dang. BH fans can’t even celebrate a huge accomplishment for 24 hrs before someone comes on here trying to “one up” them. -

That is it exactly. We had a long discussion and that’s what I said. BH runner plated LONG before Hallsville threw the ball to 2nd. The run had scored, then well after that the 3rd out was called. There was no force, 1st base was empty. The Upm team did get it right. I am glad they talked it out. -

Lots of 5A and 6A programs with turf fields and other amenities not wining State this year or anytime soon. Pretty much common now. -

A fan is tracking it. She tells me he is at 74. 110 is the UIL limit.
