If you type into google 'Lumberton UIL enrollment number 2020' a pdf file pops up from the UIL website. It lists every ISD. Scroll thru and you'll see Lumberton at 1222 for 2020.

    Publicschoolreview.com

The only reason why I used them as a source is who would randomly pull out a number like that? There has to be some data backing it.

Anyways I would be shocked if they were in 4A come 2024.

I don’t think lack of hunger or off-season expectations were the issue with LCM. Sometimes, you either have the tools or you don’t. Same goes for Lumberton moving forward. Although, I hope they can keep it up.

Someone else on the team taking snaps and play calls that actually made sense at the time instead of Morris left, Morris right, and Morris up the middle and you'd be correct.

I keep reading where some of you are predicting Lumberton will move back up to 5A next realignment.  That seems silly to me considering that Lumberton's snapshot # decreased over the last 4 years (1222 down to 1215) while the UIL cutoff to move up to 5A consistently goes up each time.  Maybe you guys know something that I don't but it seems pretty clear that Lumberton will still be 4AD1 at the next realignment.  To have an intelligent discussion about this, someone could pull up the last 5 UIL cutoff #s and compare that trend to the less than 2% average annual growth in enrollment at LHS over that same time period.  Maybe you guys are teaching that new Common Core curriculum math in your district but UIL #s and LHS #s seem pretty basic,  You only have to know how to add, subtract and occasionally divide to figure this stuff out.  Use Excel if it gets too difficult.

Not really sure where you're getting your numbers from because the last two enrollments have went up. I account for some of the new folks that have moved to Southern Hardin County and I can guarantee you people are moving into the area escaping BISD. Eighth grade enrollment is through the roof. Barring a larger than nominal increase in the bottom 5A number or some chicanery by the Lumberton School District, they'll move up in '24.

I listened to an episode of the Coaches Lounge from this past summer where Coach Negro, from SJB, and another private school California coach talk about their reach from the greater Los Angeles area.

Ridiculous really.   They have 12,000,000 people to choose their football team from.   No restrictions whatsoever.   All the best kids from that huge area go to 3 or 4 schools.

They are nothing more than the IMG model.

High School football has become a joke.

And that's why comparing them to any of the public school powerhouses is useless. It would be like taking some of the best pieces from all the schools in Houston and putting together a team. No doubt they would play neck and neck with those kids.

And for the record, the Bears are my 4th favorite team in SETX and pull for them in 90% of the games they play.  Also have family that plays for them.  So definitely not a hater.  Some of their fans can be super annoying at times but that’s literally every school (although some have more than others).

My original post was an attempt to cheer up the OP and a little trollish at some of our resident Bears. On a bright note, the Bears should be formidable in the other two big sports.

The Bears made a splash last year when the injury bug kept them from a shot at the semis (same thing happened to WOS)

We were a mobile/consistent passing QB away from a potential repeat of last years success with the Lumberton game being the only game we still struggle in (they are good)

As far as the WOS game need I remind you that the player that single handedly beat us will be dressing out in green and gold next year due to all the issues south of I-10.

With the Chevron project coming in dozens of new families will be moving in and look for quality education and athletic opportunities. Guess where they'll go? 10 sophomores starting with 14 returning overall plus JV talent. If Peevey can take advantage of some of these potential possibilities, they will fill the void on the gridiron where the Silver and Blue once dominated.

And yes it looks to be a stellar year in Basketball and Baseball.

  6. The Gilmer comment was un-called for.

I dont know what the context of the drive/situation was. Did the other team call timeout with little time left on the clock? Was it a pick prior setting them up with this field position?

Even without knowing these facts, throwing the ball in that situation is a bit of dick move regardless of what personnel is in. If they can't stop the run with second and third string guys in, so be it, but run the clock... you're up by four possessions.

Much appreciated. A SC is hard to comprehend, but that would be amazing. But I try to remain skeptical, so my feelings don’t get hurt. 😂😂😂

In all honesty if they take care of business on Friday they're only true obstacle to the state semi-final game will be Tyler Chapel Hill similar to what happened with LCM last year. I don't see anyone coming out of the other Regional bracket that they can't beat. I was not impressed with Kilgore and El Campo is very one-dimensional.

Staying injury free and a little luck and there's no reason why they can't be in the dance.

And what happens if you don’t have that additional leader on your offense? Well, then you play who brought you to the dance. There’s nobody else that could’ve filled those shoes. It’s the O Line that wasn’t cutting it. Can’t blame Morris for that.

The definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over and expect different results. The O-line doing a great job. The defense had the best game of the year. Morris was the best player on the field. They stacked the Box limiting our run ability because they know we couldn't throw the ball hence me questioning why the quarterback was still in the game.

  9. Hats off the defense! They played their hearts out and deserve the credit for keeping us in this game (Held Kilgore to 7 for over 30 minutes). The DC did a fantastic job and had the right formation dialed in for most of the night. Multiple tackles for loss in the back field against a team who's only been bested by some awesome programs. Amir has the potential to be something special.

On the offense side of the ball Morris was Morris and took on the duty of carrying 90 percent of the offense gains. The QB is now going to play baseball.

With more than a dozen starting underclassmen and the self destruction of the other West Orange county team, we should have a great year in 2023 and beyond.

The greatest fault of the '22 season is very similar to what happened in '21. If the leader of the offense ain't cutting it physically or on his performance, you must find someone who will. I hope the coaching staff will stumble upon that realization after the second year in a row its reared its head.

End of the story. You will be missed Class of '22.
