The Orangefield Lady Bobcats went 3-0 on the day, sweeping West Orange-Stark 25-11, 25-12, Hamshire Fannett 25-21, 25-16, and West Brook 25-22 and 25-18.

I would just like to point out that PN-G packed the Dell Diamond for the state championship in baseball in 2017. Grapevine appeared visibly rattled by the size and rowdiness of the PN-G crowd. Attending that was one of my proudest moments as a PN-G Indian.

On the one hand I see this as a great CYA move by the Board.  On the other hand, no doubt TD has inside scoop on many good Coaches in Texas.  I hope it’s not just CYA, but that Dodge will pick a great Coach to return PNG to statewide prominence.  Only time will tell.

The names will come out. I usually file a request once the job closes or 10-15 days after the job is posted. They have ten days to respond with the request. Districts are known to drag this out longer than ten days though. About to send off Jasper and will file for PNG Friday.

I just talked to PN-G ISD superintendent Mike Gonzales, who says the district has hired legendary high school and college football coach Todd Dodge as a consultant to help PN-G in its search for a new football coach. Dr. Gonzales says, once a new coach is selected, Dodge has agreed to stay on as a mentor for one year to the new PN-G coach. Dodge, 58, is a Port Arthur native, who played quarterback for the University of Texas in Austin. He is currently the head coach at Westlake High School in Austin, he will retire from there at the end of the month. Gonzales says PN-G ISD could not hire Dodge as coach since he has decided to retire, but Gonzales says "We were able to hire the best to help us find the best." Gonzales says up until this point, there have been 36 applicants for the top coaching job, he says applications will be accepted through Thursday afternoon.

This shakes up seeding for the playoffs now. Silsbee should get the outright district title. LCM has lost 3 games, and now LUMBERTON will have 3 losses after tonight.

There's no more money in Carthage than there is in PNG. I would say PNG is actually more well-to-do than Carthage. The difference is the Carthage community/administration chooses to pay Surratt much. So you're right, they could if they "wanted" to. The supervisor running the garage at the local refinery shouldn't be making more than the guy running your school's athletic program IMO. I think it's more of a "We used to pay this guy X amount and win, we don't need those high priced mercenaries" type situation.  

Peevy would be a fool if he applied. I don't think he's a fool.
