My nephew is one of the star players in the team. Apparently, there were some text messages that were leaked from one of the assistant coaches stating that he coaches in an off-season game for Kelly by a teacher at West Brook. It was sent to TAPPS .
If you didn’t know, there has been beef with West Brook and Kelly. West Brook parents have been saying that Kelly recruited several of their players.
If I'm not mistaking Kelly is allowed to recruit since they're a private school. I always found it odd that schools like Kelly seem to get out recruited by some of these public schools in the UIL

They will move down if they can. No one wants to be the smallest school in the classification
Well I think Newton's case might be a little different. They're probably more concerned with things like travel distance for games rather than being able to compete.

Good win eagles 🦅. We'll take that for now but we really gotta cut all the crap out.
-
Let's just hope the eagles come out fully focused second half so maybe we can pretend the first half didn't happen. On the bright side the defense looks strong. Hope they can keep it up cause we're gonna need it.

I got Woodville 28-21

OF got a chance.
Anahuac definitely has a chance long as they got that big receiver

Beat me to it. They were so bad I forgot Kirbyville was even in this district but they must have fixed whatever was wrong?
They were good a while back and lost a good coach which led to a drop in participation. They had another new coach come in last year and it looks like he has the program up and running

Been watching him closely for the past two years. He will be a 4 or 5 star recruit. Basketball also.
So your just caught up in the hype. No doubt he's a good player and is probably gonna get better but he needs to prove himself at the varsity level before folks start claiming he's the best this and that. WW's predistrict schedule was pretty weak and he's played one district game and didn't have one td in that game. How does that make him the best anything?

Not really any spectacular QBs in the district. But know for certain that Kavian Bryant is the best athlete and will be the best QB for the next 3 years. He is a Freshman and has only played a total of 5 varsity games. He will have a few learning opportunities this year.
And what facts are you basing these opinions on?

Didn't know that but I did know his potential right away... Despite the 3 INTs to me he still is the best QB in the district regardless and I've seen all of the other QBs play and he's above and beyond them so for him to be a freshman teams better lookout.
He's played one district game and didn't score one td in that game but your already saying he's the best qb in the district? LOL

Walsh done for Season, Surgery Tuesday. Bolden no longer on team, again, who knows. Bart getting looked at in the morning BMT B J, hoping just a strain, missed this week to rest - knee.
Man I hate we won't have those 2 on our defense this year. Would make us a little tougher. I saw Barts injury at the end of last weeks game. It looked like it might be bad but I was hoping it wasn't.

Went down to the wire! Good competitive match-up. I expect plenty games like this out of this district.

Great win by Orangefield. They will be district champs again. I see now why they fight so hard to stay in that district they are in. Anahuac will be #2.
I don't know man. Kirbyville might have something to say about all that.

They had 3 INTs from what I saw and 2 of them went to the same person.
Their secondary A1 and they're not bad up front either. Especially that DT

Final,. One was injured
Hey 95, you know when Walsh is coming back or if he's returning at all? Also Bolden. And Barts the one who's injured right?

Who cares about the score. Seems as if Woodville has found a kicker 🤣
Exactly! He was perfect today. That's good stuff

even if so, apparently it doesn't work for them like it does Newton.
5 state titles 30 years since last sub .500 season
Winning culture. I'm surprised their participation isn't way up like Franklin's being they've always been so good historically.

one of the reasons I think Newton has sustained their high level of winning year in and year out. the young freshman come in playing higher level competition each year(level wise that is). the experience they gain each year, helps keep those Eagles flying high.
That's most 3A programs

If so, I am surprised they just dropped out of the Rice Bowl. Seems they would want to play, correct?
In any case I was talking medium to longer term. I have no idea who is coming up in the next 1-3 years for them. Winnie is changing, futbol will benefit. Zero doubt about that.
On a related matter, Chambers Co. just voted to build a massive jail and Justice Center (Courts) in Anahuac. Look for Anahuac's population to further accelerate.
I have no clue about which direction Winnie is going in the long term but I think this thread is probably false news

It was Jv. Our freshmen blue played png and freshmen white had a bye with varsity
Well thats really impressive for Newton being that most of their really talented freshmen and sophomores are on varsity this year I believe
Beaumont Kelly forced to forfeit

Good point but it's still odd how Kelly can't hardly put a good enough team together to be consistently good at whatever level they're playing but other schools that aren't supposed to be putting teams together seem to consistently do it pretty well. LOL Just pointing that out
